ALL ABOUT INCLUSION: Jannesy DeLeon chose her daughter and son to be the protagonists in her series of children's books about including those with disabilities.

I wanted to play too, but I have
cerebral pausy and can't speak. People
with different abilities, they sometimes
feel invisible. I needed a way to tell
Nikki I wanted to join them. My goal is
to normalize a main character with
multiple disabilities because they
deserve the spotlight, too.
>> You ready for your latest book?
>> Hi, my name is Janice Deleion and I'm
from the Poconos, East Straburg,
Pennsylvania. I'm the proud mom of
Gabriella and Nicholas. Nikki puffed up
his chest. Yep, that's my sister. In
just in our experiences, they were
always overlooked. Being their mom has
taught me so much to be more kind, to be
more empathetic, to be more patient,
which I think is why I kind of steered
myself into wanting to write a book. I
swivel lunched and tagged her. Uh my
first book is Tag Your It, a story on
inclusion with Gabby and Nikki. And the
next one is Not a Shot. My most recent
book is Here Comes Sam, a story of
rescue puppy love with Gabby and Nikki.
My brother Nikki and I were finally
getting a pet.
We read it to them all the time. We have
all the books all around Gabriella's
room. So, she knows that she is the star
of the series. She was exactly where she
belonged, right by my side.
So, I read to them all the time. And
today, we're at Sultane Cafe here in
Phoenixville.
and they employ um individuals with
different abilities.
>> So, it's a perfect place to sit down,
relax, and read to my kids.
>> Cheers. Cheers to inclusion.
>> Anybody that comes here, any children
that come here, they can grab my books
and take it off the shelf and and read
it. The most important thing for me is
that children become comfortable seeing
a person with a disability and feel
comfortable going up to a child and
including them because it's really about
inclusion.
In addition to finding it here at
Sultane Cafe, you can find my books on
my website. It's janice.com.
I looked at mom and winked.
The end. Good job.
