On New Year’s Eve morning, we hiked up Camlough Mountain before sunrise in minus three degrees (Noodle was not impressed 🥶). With tea in hand and Madge trailing behind, we chased the light, reflected on a big year — and got surprised by one of the most insane cloud inversions we’ve ever seen.
This isn’t our usual classroom content, but after 14 straight weeks of uploads, this felt like a chance to slow down and connect. Half way through our hike, I share some thoughts on project-based learning, moving back to Ireland, and what’s coming next for the channel in 2026.

Here
[music]
we are, folks. 7:30 a.m. New Year's Eve.
We're at the base of Camela Mountain in
Nuri.
It is a cold and frosty day. I think
it's about - 3°, but the skies are very
clear. You can already see light coming
through even though it's sunrise isn't
for another hour. We're going to try and
hike to the summit or at least the mast
to see sunrise. Oh, look, there's
sunrise already. We're at the base of
the mountain. Hooray.
We're about 5 minutes into the walk
here. We can see the sunrise is already
occurring.
Maja is determined to miss the sunrise.
Keeping a solid 40 m behind us at all
times, right? Let's try and get up here
before before we get a full sunrise. But
already pretty nice looking.
Here she comes.
>> Oh yeah, she's in a rush, guys.
>> [music]
>> There's a flash, boys. [music]
>> We're not going to make it to the summit
for sunrise, but there is
[sighs]
a radio mast. Don't know what it is. A
mast up here.
So, we're going to go up there, have a
cup of tea, watch sunrise, and then
maybe we'll continue to the summit.
Come on, guys.
[music]
Unreal, lads.
And [snorts] there's a perfect little
[music] spot.
Sit.
Take that all in.
[music]
>> [music]
>> and a half back.
>> All right, about that.
>> Cheers.
>> Cheers.
>> Oh, glad to have that cup of tea.
>> Ready for reset.
>> Do you want up? Come on up. Ready? One,
two, three. Oh, we got we got
>> Right. So, that's the end of 2025.
Pretty happy we got through the Egypt,
ancient Egypt series. The whole idea
behind that is to make it make the
learning more meaningful where the
children are actually seeing that well,
we're learning this so that we can
actually apply the learning. I find that
a lot of teaching nowadays is very work
worksheet heavy and that's fine for
remembering or like the memorization of
facts and figures and information but
the real learning and the real test is
can they apply that to other things to
problem solve and critical thinking. So
that's the the basis of what we're
trying to do with these projects. Yes,
will perhaps use worksheets or other
methods to remember the the learning
that they have engaged with, but then
actually use that to build temples to
collaborate with each other and be
innovative and just create projects. So,
it's project based learning and it just
tweaks the learning ever so slightly so
that it is more meaningful in a world
that's rapidly changing and we can't
keep up with that. It's very important
for children to be adaptable, flexible,
and innovative. So focus on the skills,
not the information retaining.
>> On a personal level, we are moved back
to Ireland in 2025 and we are hoping in
2026 we find a home. Anybody wants to
sponsor us and give us a little small
anything
>> sponsor Bradley today.
>> We'd be more than happy. Doesn't have to
be a bunch of
>> $8.95 a month.
>> Yeah, it's been a good year.
>> Been a busy one.
>> So stay tuned. The next project will be
the rainforests coming up soon. Can't
wait to to make a project out of that.
See you next time. Sit. Sit. Paw. Paw.
[laughter]
>> All right, let's go to the summit.
Onwards and upwards. My lovely pink bag.
Here we go. There's a proper [music]
sunrise now.
I actually thought that was the sunrise
earlier, but here she comes.
Right. Well, there's the mask. behind us
where [music] we hiked up to. And here
is the true summit,
which is up there. You see the cross?
Yeah.
Sh.
final
few steps.
And as with many Irish mountains,
what better way to
mark the summit than with a crucifix.
Sun's obviously well and clearly up now.
But there's still super clear cloud
inversion.
See it down the valleys. It's completely
covered. Top of the lock as well in
front of us. It looks like snow is
everywhere, but it's actually the
clouds. It's cooler. The clouds can kind
of sink into the valley. And we'll stay
there if it's low in wind until the sun
comes up and starts to condense them.
So, you kind of only get them like this
in these very early mornings. But it's
really quite beautiful. Happy New Year.
>> All right, that concludes our little
hike from uh our little New Year's Eve
hike. Uh tomorrow's New Year's Day, so a
happy new year to everyone. Thank you
for everyone who supported the channel
and the learning made fun our little
business ventures. We'll uh keep the
[music] content and the products coming
along and uh yeah, thank you. [music]
Happy New Year, guys.
>> [music]
>> You want to get pictures? I'm taking
[music]
down there. Look at that kid.
