Eiro, in a setter today. Fantastic tempo off the bat. Eiro. A big man. To put himself in the right position. Larry. Finds Graben. Brandt. Oh, another dig from Rak. Oh, that is delightful. Toby Brandt laces this ball cross-court. This is a great swing. A few centimetres another way. He's blocked a few centimetres the other way. Oh, goodness me. He's hit the antenna, but Krik is not in the mood for any of his... Zimmermann. Ishikawa with the pass. Takahashi. Oh, the pancake. Well played. Brandt. Up high and Miyaura's there. Eiro. Out wide. Oh, what a block. What a dig. Oh, my goodness. He's very small. Eiro. Out to Miyaura. Vera Volimonza. Oh, and what a service from Roche. Picks up the ace. Great position now. 23. And making Japan play. Good swing. Good touch. Roche. He might swing on that either way. Ishikawa tries to work off the hands. Well played, Jan. Brandt's backcourt. Oh, yeah. Brandt. Immaculate. Germany. Oh, yeah. From outside the three. Goes to Larry. Gets blocked by Crick. And what a start to this game by Germany. Short at Yon. Was struggling. Roche is going to swing on it. Ogawa into Eiro. The pipe doesn't come off. Patience required. That's awesome. Yuki Ishikawa. Breakpoint Japan. One again from Ogawa. Oh, Roche. That is some angle. Lovely. Roche. The order. He's having a lovely time out there. Germany not quite sure what to do with him. He's showing the effects of having played. Seven attack points for him. Roche receives. But not enough to put the ball down. Oh, Yon. From off the deck. Down. Finishes it. Will be a challenge for. That one win. Thunk. 18-14. Ishikawa. For the spinner. And Toby Crick does not look like he's going to miss today. He does not. Because he's getting used in the. Clayton. At the end of this set. Good service. Tomita. The order. Into. Crick. Onto the scoreboard. 23-18. He's gone for it. Forced the overpass. Now. Germany need to convert. Set point. Tomita's backcourt. Eiro. Run. Japan are level. Good pass. Zimmermann. Wow. Eric Roche. Helps himself. Zimmermann. The order. That is also. A good swing. It's the speed of the ball. That creates the problem. Brandt. Ishikawa. The roll. The pancake. Yon. Off the shoulder. But converted. Breakpoint lead. Germany. Phenomenal defense. To pick up the roll. As Ishikawa serves. Great serve. And Crick. Goes. Bang. Shifted all the way over. They're going to be absolutely huge. Lovely touch by Rahn. Lari. Gets there ahead of Lenny. It's the Lari-Lenny access. The downside of that for Germany. Which is. Takes some heat off it. Makes Graven play. Oh wow. That has hit Ishikawa clean in the head. Brandt. Pass and Rahn. Trying to challenge the physicality of the Japanese block. Good pass. Rahn. Oh. That's unreal. Zimmerman probably had that horrible sinking feeling as he's jumped. Yeah. First Tomita. Now Mia Ora. Doing a great job from the service line. Oh. An ace. And Tomita Ora. Puts Japan ahead. Hops for the float serve. Rahn. Is going to get it back. Swinging for the set. No. This needs to go down. But Ogawa's there. Above set. Rahn. Japan lead 2-1. And they have come. Brandt. Serves first in the fourth set. Good early pass. Oh no no. Kantomiya Ora's in the mood everyone. Watch out. Tsuki in the better part of two sets. He appears to have warmed up. Wait a minute. Great block. Ishikawa. On Adira. These first four side outs. Not letting first tempo be part of the play. Ishikawa. That was the roll shot well. But Zimmerman reads it. Rathen with the bump set. Good cover off the block. Oh. What a swing from Rhodes. That is a lovely step inside the corner. 9-8. Yorn. Brooklyn. So it certainly wasn't a clean volley. But anyway. We digress. Great pick up. Hey look. Working hard. Rahn. Working harder. 14-11. This is a absolutely. For Germany. Equally as big. Great save. But an opportunity for a four point lead. Oh the pick up superb. From Toby Brand.
