For more than a thousand years people believed that the Earth was at the center of the universe
According to the geocentric model the Sun Moon and planets revolved around a stationary Earth
In this video we will recreate that vision in Universe Sandbox
and we will see how the universe looked to ancient astronomers
I will present a couple of variations of this experiment
In the first case I will simply swap the positions of the Earth and the Sun
And well basically I replace the Sun with the Earth and the Earth with the Sun
I will also block the Earth's ability to
move so that it remains in one place forever
And I will add to the Earth its satellite the Moon
Here it is the Moon
And now I start the simulation and let's see what happens
The Sun seems to have entered orbit but Mercury rushed directly toward it
And the Moon broke away from the Earth while the Earth remains there motionless in the center
Well anyway
The movement of the Sun has begun and the planets are starting to follow it
Basically this will cause the destruction of the Solar System
Well at least partially that is certain
But will there be total destruction of the System
Well Jupiter no longer orbits the Sun
Venus seems to be moving in its direction
Well in the end you'll see it for yourselves everything
In summary the Solar System will simply be destroyed
There goes Mars there goes Saturn
If Earth and the Sun simply swap places this is what happens
And the Earth simply remained here in the center
And with it as if everything is clear but it began to freeze
Miren a completely frozen world
The temperature here has dropped extremely it is already at an average of minus 204 degrees
And near the Sun we see this image
Mercury entered a very elongated elliptical orbit around the Sun
And here the Moon also orbits by the way in the opposite direction to the way Mercury orbits the Sun as you can see
And a series of main belt asteroids
As for the planets well I still see Ceres
But of the main planets none remain in orbit anymore
Only Mercury the planet closest to the Sun
The rest as you can see simply disperses
In the second case I have already created such a system where the Earth is stationary at the center of the Solar System
Now I will show them to you
Here basically I approach the center of the Solar System if it can still be called that or the Earth system right
And here we see Earth right in the center there the Moon orbits
Here orbit Mercury Venus and the Sun instead of Earth
I will speed up time and you will see that the Sun is actually orbiting the Earth
How did I do it you may ask Yes I had to struggle a bit it was very difficult but now I will explain everything
Take for example the planet Jupiter
As you can see here its mass and radius fully correspond to its characteristics
But in order for it to orbit the Earth yes I had to work quite hard really
The first thing I did was drastically reduce the mass so that it would orbit the Earth so to speak
Then I returned that mass
But in order for it to orbit it was also necessary to disable the attraction of other objects here
And with the Earth I did the opposite so that it would have the ability to
attract other objects but that the Earth would not be attracted by other objects
Well as you can see the orbits here are stable
The orbits of Uranus Neptune and Pluto have not yet been fully drawn
Because they move very slowly around the Earth
They move at a very low speed because the Earth has little mass
Well the closer to Earth the faster everything spins
In our simulator time passes at more than 100 years per second
Let's take the orbit of Saturn as an example
I will show you the movement of Saturn It moves at
a speed of only 16 meters per
second It is very slow
Mercury of course orbits more quickly but even
here its speed is low Only 85.3 meters per second
In the normal solar system it moves much faster
I will also show you the habitable zone
Here is the situation
Since the Earth and the Sun are at the
same distance one astronomical unit
the Earth should have normal conditions just like in a normal solar system
But Mercury Venus Mars and the other planets can receive different
temperatures from the star at different
times Let's see what happens with Earth
I will hide the atmosphere and the clouds
As you can see at this moment the northern hemisphere of the planet receives more sunlight
While the southern hemisphere barely receives it
And here a lot of ice has formed everything is frozen
Even the south of Africa and the southern part of South America
And the average temperature of the Earth is slowly decreasing
And do you know why this happened
Because the Earth is stationary in the center
And the Sun moves in its orbit at a very slow speed
It turns out that by the time the Sun
moves to the other side of the orbit to warm the southern hemisphere
Our northern hemisphere will have time to warm up a lot
and the southern one on the contrary to cool down a lot
I hope I have explained it clearly
I sped up time to 30 years per second
He had to speed it up to clearly show how this slow movement
of the Sun affects the Earth's and other planets' climates
Yes it is possible that the weather is not perfectly calculated but
they will still be able to get a
general idea And again near the Earth
See how the temperature fluctuates as the Sun
moves along the ancient orbit of the Earth
And we see that now our southern hemisphere is freezing while
the north is completely
thawing And now it will be the opposite
Yes as you can see the north is freezing and the south here is thawing
Well anyway
This is the new seasonal change on
Earth but for it to happen a long
time has to pass Much much longer You can calculate it yourselves
They pass 30 years per second Probably they have to pass hundreds of
years for summer to arrive here for
example in the southern hemisphere
The average temperature on Earth as far as I can tell fluctuates
between minus one degree and plus six degrees Celsius on average
And yes we can see how far the snow reaches to the south
It's something really serious Well
I think in a world like this
Only in the equator would it be possible to live normally
At least snow and ice do not reach there
The probability of life on such a planet ranges from 84 to say 90 percent
Do you see how different everything is now
That is exactly how people imagined our solar system in the past
Let's take a brief look at Mercury
On Mercury the temperature fluctuates between more than 55 and less than 51 degrees Celsius
Now Venus
The surface is not visible at all
Let's see what's on the surface
Well the usual Venus with its molten surface
Let's see how the temperature fluctuates on Venus
174 degrees Celsius was the minimum temperature
The maximum at the closest point to the star was over 800 degrees
Let's also see how Venus will warm up with the atmosphere and clouds activated
Well it didn't look very good how everything heated up on the surface
As for the Sun I'll show it
to you To make you believe me
I will fly there
And these are its characteristics
As you can see here its mass and radius have not changed
The temperature has not changed
And the luminosity has not either
That is the Sun is like a normal Sun
It simply orbits the Earth
Yes it sounds incredible
I will reactivate the habitable zone so they can see how this red area of the Sun
and the green one move along the orbits of the other planets
That is why this temperature fluctuation occurs
When for example Venus enters the red zone it even approaches the black zone
There it has the highest temperature
The same happens with Mars and Mercury at certain times
Well it's clear that Jupiter and Saturn won't be affected as much by this
But even so there should be a slight temperature fluctuation
Now come to Mars
Oh oh
As it approaches the star how much it has changed
And even vegetation appeared for a moment Did they see that
there was a green strip But now
it is minus 159 degrees Celsius
And the temperature starts to rise again
Now Mars is approaching the star
The temperature reached almost 100 degrees Celsius
Wow what a change of seasons on Mars
Although it didn't freeze here
Oh let's take a look again
Well I will move a bit further
Oh there it is
That is the conditions are suitable for vegetation
Well the simulator will immediately show the vegetation if it is possible in that place
Well in summary that's about it
If we start time again Mars will freeze once more
Now come to Jupiter
I will speed up the time even more
Here I see that the temperature is no longer fluctuating as much
About 19 degrees give or take
The average is about minus 165
degrees Celsius Now come to Saturn
In it the temperature no longer fluctuates as much as on Jupiter
It only varies by about 5 degrees either way
And on Uranus I think it won't fluctuate much
Well we see less than 219 degrees and initially it no longer changes
Now come to Neptune
The temperature there has reached minus 229 degrees Celsius
Here is the dwarf planet Pluto
It is 238 degrees colder there on Pluto
Now I will return to Earth
I want to descend to its surface here in Australia
And let's look at the sky how the star looks from here
Here is the sun it is very bright here
I turned off the space glasses
If I activate the display of course the sun looks like this
And now we have the night sky and perhaps we will see some planets
I just saw the Moon and it still looks very small but in
Universe Sandbox something doesn't add up with the sizes
Although it is at the correct distance from Earth
I activated the labels to see where these planets are
Here I see Jupiter and next to it is Venus
But they are not visible at all only the labels indicating where each planet is
From here you can also see Pluto where it is located
Well I don't see anything else around here
This is what would happen if the Earth were at the center of the solar system
It was a brilliant experiment
If you liked it give it a like and leave a comment
Thank you very much
