And the president brags about his Venezuela policy?
Give us a break!
He hasn't brought an end to the Maduro regime.
The Maduro regime is more powerful today and more entrenched today
than it was when the president began.
When the United States engages in this kind of regime change
and so-called nation-building,
it always ends up hurting the United States.
I left the briefing feeling that it would again.
This wasn't a law enforcement action.
They're lying to the American people when they say that.
It was an unprecedented military action.
This all started in early September around drugs.
Never mind that, you know, the drugs that kill Americans are fentanyl,
not the cocaine that comes out of Venezuela.
But look, I think you have to take the president at his word.
22 times in his press conference did he use the word oil.
Okay, there's a sample, right?
Big-name Democrats blasting the arrest of Maduro.
Some on the left reportedly think the party should be celebrating the move.
What's your view on that?
Bill, what you have is Democrats.
They're not America policy.
They're not America first policy.
They're not for pro-America.
They're for politics.
I mean, obviously you see Chuck Schumer,
that is the biggest hypocrite that I've ever been around in my life,
who is contradicting himself just five years ago
because that speech that he gave was in 2018.
You also have Dick Durbin that gave the similar speech
at a similar time in 2018.
You have Tim Kline who said the exact same thing.
And Chris Murphy who came out, and I'll read it to you,
said, quote,
Getting rid of Maduro is good for the United States.
That was in 2019.
Now, it's anti-good for America
and that it's about regime change.
We know for a fact that Maduro was running drugs
into the United States
and was killing our friends and our family members,
poisoning our states.
And for Jim Hines to go out there and say that cocaine isn't killing people,
it's fentanyl,
I'm going, excuse me?
I'm sorry?
Cocaine isn't tearing apart families?
Cocaine hasn't tore apart families for decades now?
How ridiculous is someone to say something like that
because of their hatred for President Trump?
How about we stop the politics
and do what's right for America first,
but the Democrats are uncapable of doing that?
Okay, apparently behind closed doors,
it might be a different conversation.
I say that because of this quote from Axios.
Democrats fume with their party's response to Maduro capture.
Some Dems grumble at their party's largely oppositional stance
at Trump's raid to capture Maduro,
saying privately that their colleagues should be celebrating.
During the presidential campaign in 2020,
Joe Biden accused Donald Trump of being soft on Maduro
and Biden said he was going to be tough on Maduro.
Of course, he did nothing at all.
The Democratic position on the use of military force
depends entirely on who is in the White House.
The overnight raid to pick up Nicolas Maduro
was nothing compared to the bombing of Libya,
which led to the overthrow and death of Muammar Gaddafi,
which the Obama administration carried out.
But nearly all the Democrats were fine with that.
So it really is a political question of who is in the White House
when it comes to approving of the use of force.
And meanwhile, though,
you know, talking about other Democrats' reaction,
I love this here.
Kamala Harris, who could very well have been
the president of the United States right now
and presumably would have left Maduro in power,
has posted on X, writing that
the president is putting troops at risk,
spending billions, destabilizing a region,
and offering no legal authority,
no exit plan, and no benefit at home.
But I thought this was particularly hypocritical here, John,
because as, you know, you alluded to before,
the Biden administration,
and with Kamala Harris as vice president,
approved a $25 million bounty
for Maduro's arrest just days before they left office.
Yeah, that's exactly right.
The Biden State Department increased the reward
that was being offered for information
leading to the capture and arrest of Nicolas Maduro
to $25 million.
It looks to me like Donald Trump
may be eligible to claim that reward.
So it's total hypocrisy.
And you know, everything that Kamala Harris said
in that tweet was wrong.
There were no troops harmed.
There were no billions spent.
The region is going to be more stable
with Venezuela no longer an ally
of Russia and China and Iran.
The legal authority for the arrest
is the federal indictment
in the Southern District of New York.
And far from not having an exit plan,
the troops have already exited.
So I think that this is a brilliantly executed operation.
And I think that American security
is going to be greatly enhanced
by not having a hostile country
collaborating with our enemies
right across the Caribbean from us.
Senator John Fetterman sits
on the Homeland Security Committee
and he joins us now.
Senator, thanks so much for joining
Fox and Friends this morning.
You were one of the few Democrats
that praised the president's actions
of capturing this narco-terrorist
to stand trial today
in his first preliminary hearing.
I think, I don't know why we can't
just acknowledge that it's been
a good thing what's happened.
I mean, I've seen the speeches
from whether it's Leader Schumer
or kinds of past tweets from President Biden.
You know, we all wanted this man gone
and now he is gone.
I think we should really appreciate
exactly what happened here.
And I think we did,
just as I've saluted our military,
what they've done.
And that was really surgical
and precise and very efficient.
So why we can't celebrate
these kinds of things.
And I'm open to the good opportunities
that a better future for Venezuela
after this happened.
Yeah, you're absolutely right.
There are eight million
displaced Venezuelans celebrating.
Aren't the Democrats
who are complaining about this,
aren't they watching those celebrations,
seeing them dancing,
hearing their stories
about not being able to go home,
not being able to be by their grandmother's side
when she's dying in Venezuela
because they can't enter that country?
I agree.
I mean, you know, our nation
was forced to absorb
over 500,000 Venezuelans.
So now that's the kinds of chaos
and I think it was appropriate
and surgical.
This wasn't a war.
This wasn't boots on grounds
and in that kind of a way.
And now they're also putting him on a trial.
They didn't assassinate him.
They didn't disappear him.
He's actually on, you know,
our TV right now
and they're going to give him a trail right now.
Good point.
Yes.
You know, for me,
I think Democrats,
we all used to describe him
as a dictator or a tyrant
or a terrible person
and it wasn't less than a year ago.
President Biden raised,
raised the bounty for 25 million dollars
less than a year ago.
And now that here,
here we're in a better way to now
and that's why I think as a Democrat,
you know, just because it's a different party here.
It's like I'm open to better opportunities
for Venezuelan.
So Senator Chris Murphy,
your Democratic colleague called the operation
wildly illegal.
The America doesn't want this war.
Nobody asked for this
and I think the most important conversation to have
is Venezuela is not a security threat
to the United States.
They're not threatening to invade us.
Do you want to take this on?
Well, I mean,
I respect my friend in Connecticut,
but we have different views on this
and perhaps other views as well.
I again,
I just said this on my social media
that, you know, remind everybody
that America is a force of good order
and democracy
and we are promoting these kinds of values.
We are the good guys,
you know, so many people were freaking out
about the Iranian strikes,
you know, or last last year.
I absolutely called for those things
and I supported those kinds of things,
you know, the Middle East didn't just,
you know, just spiral
and it actually it was much more peaceful
and now all of the,
you know, many of the members of BRICS
are absolutely paying attention
what happened in Venezuela,
whether if I'm in Iran,
I'm thinking,
whoa, maybe I won't talk tough.
So they won't talk so tough anymore
or and it just reminds people
that we have the capabilities
to touch you wherever you are
and now I think things are going to be
more stable.
Let's remember eight million Venezuelan
were displaced and mass chaos
and now they were shipping drugs
to our nation as well too.
So for me, it's like
why why as a Democrat,
you know, we can't just acknowledge
that it was successful
and now absolutely was a risk.
Now going back to what's happened in Venezuela,
what we have done is we gave
the Venezuelan people an opportunity
to get back to democracy
that they lost 25 years ago
when the dictatorships first started
and we are closely watching it.
We have we don't have military on the ground,
but we have eyes on the ground
paying attention wishing the best
for the Venezuelan people.
They're going to be the one
making the decision here
and and we want to restore democracy
back in Venezuela.
Obviously, I think
what President Trump is doing here
and what the administration is doing here
is looking at the Western Hemisphere
and saying we need to take care
of our own backyard
man. I am excited about it.
He's the first president
to do this in decades
and he's putting America first,
which is exactly what we need to do
because we're seeing socialism
creep way too close to us.
I mean, we see what's happening
in New York right now.
We see what's happening
in Central and South America
and for President Trump
to take a strong stance
and saying, one,
you're not going to poison our streets.
You're not going to continue
bringing the drugs in,
but we're also going to be
watching at your Paul
watching at the politics perspective.
