What's Next for the Farm Bill?

Let's talk about the farm bill. America's farmers and ranchers feed, fuel, and clothe the world. But for too long, our farm policy hasn't kept [music] pace with today's economy, today's risks, or today's costs. Every farm bill takes its own unique road to becoming law. And this time is no different. This summer, Congress delivered [music] the largest investment in our agriculture economy in a generation. The one big beautiful bill, also known as HR1. [music] What many people don't realize is that HR1 included critical farm bill programs that producers rely on every day. That historic legislation strengthened the farm safety net, expanded conservation programs, invested in agricultural research, and made major commitments to trade promotion and disaster recovery. It also restored integrity to SNAP. So, the program works better for families in need and is accountable to taxpayers. [music] All of this matters not just for our farmers, but for every family at the grocery store. A stronger farm economy helps stabilize our food supply and fight long-term food inflation. Bipartisan economic assistance has also helped. But let's be clear, unbudgeted emergency assistance is not a substitute for modern predictable [music] farm policy. Farmers need and deserve certainty on the farm and consumers deserve [music] the same at the grocery store. And that's why finishing the farm bill is so critical. To that end, we're moving forward with what we call Farm Bill 2.0, a bipartisan bill to finish the job by modernizing risk management [music] tools, strengthening crop insurance, improving credit access, updating conservation programs, expanding rural development, and helping to reduce costs for both producers and consumers. Farm Bill 2.0 will bring [music] transparency, certainty, and long-term stability back to farm country. The one big beautiful bill was a massive step forward for American agriculture. Farm Bill 2.0 will complete the mission.
