Hey friends.
In today's video, I tested nine of Sephora's
top rated, best selling tinted SPFs.
And I have some thoughts.
So if you're in the market for a new tinted SPF,
this video is for you.
Let's get started.
Okay, you guys.
So before we get started,
I wanna welcome you if you're brand new to my channel.
My name is Lisa and I am a former makeup artist
and I'm also the founder of BK Beauty Brushes.
Why do I say that?
I say that to tell you that I know a thing or two
about makeup and on this channel,
I love to share product reviews, tips, recommendations,
makeup tips.
So if you enjoy this video,
I hope you will consider subscribing.
Okay, so I've got nine products to share with you
and I'm going to go in order of price point.
We'll start with the least expensive
to the most expensive product.
But overall, these products all kind of range
in that 40 to $50 range.
So that'll give you some type of reference
in terms of the cost of these products.
And I have a good range, you guys, a very good range.
I was very excited to research this video
and purchase and test all these products.
Some of them I already owned,
some of them I had to go out and purchase,
but I've got some gems to share with you.
So starting with Tower 28's Sunny Days Broad Spectrum SPF 30,
this retails for $32 on Sephora's website.
It has light coverage and a natural finish
and it comes in 17 shades.
Also Tower 28, if you're not familiar,
is really great for sensitive skin types.
And this product is accepted
by the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.
So if you have sensitive skin or eczema,
this would be a great product for you to consider trying.
Now I am going to insert the roll
of me applying all of these products.
So you can see them on bare skin.
Now I shot this in front of my window at home, natural light.
I had a very small light, ring light in front of me,
but overall you're pretty much seeing natural light.
And when I applied these, I had nothing on the skin,
which will be pretty apparent.
No concealer, no foundation, no tinted anything.
This is applied on bare skin.
So you guys can see right here how it applied on my skin.
But this definitely gives very light coverage.
If you are looking for a tinted SPF
that's going to even the skin tone out
and really, you know, lightly cover imperfections,
this is gonna be pretty sheer in my opinion.
I have some others coming up
that I think would be a better choice for you.
I do love that you can apply this with your fingers.
This has a kind of a dewy finish to me.
Like it feels like a skincare product
when you apply it on the skin.
And the consistency does feel a bit thicker.
I did notice that when I was applying it on the skin,
it felt a bit thicker.
Now this was a product that I remember loving.
Years ago I bought this product and I loved, loved, loved it.
I still enjoy this product,
but this definitely doesn't line up as a favorite
among the products that I'm gonna share with you here today.
So I think that if you have sensitive skin,
this is really nice.
If you want something really light and sheer, this is great.
If you don't mind a consistency
that feels a little bit thicker and more dewy on the skin,
this is a really great option.
Now I do think if you apply a really light layer of this,
you can wear it under makeup.
If you apply a lot and you really build this up,
I think that this would be your makeup for the day.
You could pair it with a little bit of concealer
for extra coverage underneath the eyes,
but I wouldn't layer a foundation on top of this product.
Personally, for me,
I just found that it was best worn by itself.
And if paired with a foundation,
it's really important to use a very sheer light layer.
I think that this is a really great product
for someone that is looking for a tinted SPF
that looks like nothing on the skin,
that almost looks like just natural, natural skin,
that with a slight even of skin tone.
Something that just looks like it's barely there,
this would be great for you.
I also wanna mention this has an SPF of 30,
which is the lowest that you'll find in this lineup.
There are a couple of others that have 30,
but keep that in mind,
because if you're using this as your sole SPF protection
and you might want a stronger SPF rating, this is a 30.
Next up, we have the Supergoop Protect Tint
Daily SPF Tint SPF 50.
So this is on the highest end of what I'll be sharing today.
This was also an Allure Best in Beauty winner.
This retails for $44 on Sephora's website.
It comes in 14 shades.
The coverage is described as being a light coverage
with a natural finish.
And this is one that I really like.
This is a product that I already owned
and something that I incorporated into my routine.
It wasn't a product that I reached for all the time,
but every time I did reach for this product,
I was always happy with the results.
By the way, I am the shade 24 in in this product,
and I think it's a really nice shade match.
So Supergoop is known for making SPF products.
That's kind of what the brand launched on
and all their products that they launch.
I'm pretty certain have an SPF.
So they're really known to have an extensive SPF lineup
of body care products, face products,
tinted SPFs, transparent.
So they're kind of like the SPF experts, you might say.
And again, you can see here as I apply it,
this really has a radiant finish.
It's described on the website as having a natural finish,
but to me, this looks like
freshly hydrated, moisturized skin.
It feels like a skincare ingredient,
and I feel like it leaves the skin looking dewy and radiant.
It does, however, pair well under makeup.
Sometimes I will wear this underneath the foundation
and I have no issues with it.
I would say the coverage of it gives me a little bit more
than a light coverage.
It's just really beautiful on the skin.
I will wear this sometimes with just concealer
and maybe I'll dust a little Jane Iredell powder on top,
which is a powder foundation.
But I find that this will give me enough coverage typically
as much as I need along with a little concealer.
A lot of times I won't feel the need
to wear foundation with this.
I also love that I can apply this with my fingers.
Actually, pretty much every product
that I'm gonna share today, I can apply with my fingers.
There is one product that I prefer to use a brush with,
but overall, I apply all of these with my fingers,
which is nice.
I kind of treat this as a skincare step in my routine.
But overall, I really like this one.
I think this is a great buy.
Okay, now next up we have one
that I think is really different than all the rest,
and I really love this product.
This is the CL Tint and Protect SPF 50 Tinted Serum.
Now, I was actually surprised when I went on
to kind of gather my research and bullet points
for this video because it's actually described
as being a serum foundation,
which technically doesn't fall in line
with the other products.
The other products are more of an SPF tint,
and that was actually news to me.
I'd always had in my head thought that this was a tint.
It says tinted serum,
and I had always kind of treated it as that.
However, it does give more coverage, I think,
than any of the others
that we're gonna be talking about today.
So the fact that it's described as foundation
definitely makes sense.
I have worn this in the past
underneath foundations, you guys,
and I don't have any recollection
of it looking or feeling heavy.
However, it's really not needed.
The coverage that you get from this is really exceptional.
It's like a foundation.
So this one kind of snuck in.
Again, today, I just learned it was a foundation.
I thought it was a tint this whole time,
but really, what does that mean?
It just means that it gives more coverage
than the typical tints,
but it still looks really natural.
It gives a very dewy finish on the skin.
This has medium coverage.
It has a mineral SPF of 50.
It comes in 13 colors,
and this retails for $44.
It has a little dropper applicator.
Now, I really like to apply this
with a brush versus my fingers
just because it's very pigmented,
and then I find after I apply it,
I've got a lot of mess on my hands.
So I really do prefer to use a brush for this product,
but this is beautiful.
I think this is an exceptional product,
especially for dry skin or for mature skin, over 40 skin.
I think it's a really nice alternative
to your typical standard foundations,
and I love the fact that it has an SPF of 50 in it.
Really, truly, I adore this product.
I think it is such a great buy.
Okay, next up, we have the Dr. Jart
BB Premium Beauty Balm, SPF 40.
So now we're bumping down to a 40 SPF.
This was a product that really pleasantly surprised me.
This is one that I had to go out and buy.
I didn't own this product before,
so it was truly a new product for me to test and try.
This retails for $48, and it comes in six shades,
so not a really extensive shade range,
and I will say that's my biggest complaint
with this product.
Otherwise, I love this product.
This gives light coverage.
It has a natural finish,
although I feel like I get a subtle,
radiant finish from this.
This hydrates, conceals, protects.
It has niacinamide in it as well.
It's kind of like a skincare product
with your SPF and a bit of a tint.
I apply this with my fingers and it looks beautiful.
What I love about this product,
I feel like it really does blur
and smooth out imperfections.
I like to wear this by itself with a little concealer
and maybe dust over a little Jane Iredell powder foundation
if I want extra coverage,
but a lot of the times,
I just love the way this looks with concealer.
Now, one of the reasons I also don't wear a foundation
on top of this is because the color range.
So I have the shade light, medium, medium,
and it's just a tad too dark for me,
and you'll see when I apply it on my hand,
it looks too dark.
You'll see that when I apply it, it looks too dark,
but once you blend it in, it really does work with my skin.
I went in to buy the shade below this to see,
and it was just like a big jump from this.
It was like way too light and too pink for me.
So that's probably my biggest complaint
with this product is the shade range
is not as extensive as I think it should be,
and the shades that they do have are just kind of off to me,
but even though this looks dark, I can make it work,
but I don't like to pair it with another foundation
because one, I don't really need to.
I get great coverage from this,
but two, it would just look like orange face quickly.
So keep that in mind.
This might be one that you might want to order
a couple of shades in or go into a store
to get shade matched or test it or try it out,
but in terms of the finish of this, I love it.
I think it's just this really beautiful,
soft radiance without looking greasy,
and I love how it just like blurs and smooths the skin.
That might just be in my head,
but that is one thing that I really noticed
from this product.
I really love it.
Okay, next up, we have the Best Skin Days
by Iris and Romeo,
and this is the 5-in-1 Skincare Dewy Coverage SPF 30.
Now, I hesitated using this one for a while.
This is one that sat on my counter,
and it was like one of the last ones that I tried
because I didn't think I was gonna like it.
One, I don't like dewy finishes.
I think that they can look greasy
and they can look too shiny,
and I just don't like a dewy finish.
Radiant, I can do.
Dewy just makes me feel sticky, tacky, greasy.
Now, I also didn't love that it's in a jar like this,
meaning I had to dig my fingers in there.
I don't have super long nails,
but it definitely would get underneath the nails,
so that kind of turned me off from it a bit.
Then when I touched it, it's kind of,
and trust me, there are some good things
I'm gonna share with you,
so don't write this one off entirely yet,
but you can see that the texture is kind of thick, right?
It's kind of thick and moussey,
so I hesitated using this for the longest time.
I thought, you're not gonna like it.
You're not gonna like it, but you know what?
You gotta test it.
You gotta try it.
You gotta build a speak on it
because it is a very popular product on Sephora's website.
The day that I applied this,
it started off with that whole like,
oh, I'm digging in here.
Oh, I don't like this.
I don't like this.
Then I started to apply it on my skin,
and I was like, huh, oh, wow, okay, maybe I was wrong.
So I really like this product.
Now, I am gonna say this does give a dewy finish,
but even though this feels like a thick texture,
when you blend it on the skin,
it's very sheer and very light,
and it feels nice and light on the skin,
and it gives the skin the most beautiful, beautiful glow.
I have to say, I was very wrong.
I had judgment on this product that wasn't warranted
because I think it's really nice.
Now, this is definitely one that I did pair
with my Jane Iredell Pure Pressed Mineral Foundation on top.
One, because I wanted more coverage.
This is very, very light coverage.
It will even the skin tone out,
but to me, I want more coverage.
You can still see a lot of my imperfections
when I wear this, but look at how pretty that glow is.
So if you like a glowy finish, this is it for you.
If you're like me and you don't like a real dewy finish,
just add a little powder foundation,
just a subtle bit of the Jane Iredell,
and that'll like balance that glow out.
You'll still get that glow,
but it won't be as intense as you're seeing here,
but it really made my skin look like
I had just gotten a facial.
You guys, that's what my skin looked like.
It was beautiful.
SPF 30, would love to see a little higher SPF in this
if you are using this as your daily SPF,
but I was actually pretty shocked.
The cons on this, of course, is the way you apply it.
You know, you can kind of get in your fingers,
but overall, I think the product itself
and the finish is beautiful on the skin.
So I don't know.
I was a little wrong.
I'm kind of indifferent about this.
I really love the way that it looks.
It's interesting.
So give this a try if you haven't,
or if you have tried it, let us know down below.
What are your thoughts?
Do you agree?
I could see this being a product that like,
there's a segment of people that absolutely love it.
You know, like I could see this being
one of those diehard products for many people,
and even people that don't like it are just,
I think, people that really don't like a glow to this level
and that also might not like the texture of it.
But if you can get over that when you apply it on the skin,
I think it's just really beautiful,
really, really beautiful.
Okay, next up, we have a product
that was an obsession of mine for a while.
There was a point in time a couple years ago
where I was using this every day.
This is the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30.
So this is actually marketed as a tinted moisturizer.
SPF 30, kind of low on the SPF rating.
Now, this actually has vitamin C in it.
So it does have skincare ingredients.
Vitamin C is really great for brightening.
It's hydrating.
It's a moisturizer.
So you could use this in lieu of your moisturizer,
especially if you have more kind of normal or oily skin.
If you have really dry skin,
you might feel the need to still pair
a lightweight moisturizer under this.
You could use like a hyaluronic serum
and then use this as your moisturizer.
This is described as giving light coverage,
but I actually feel like this gives pretty darn good coverage
for a tinted moisturizer.
I do.
I think typically when I see tinted moisturizers,
they don't give much coverage at all.
They're very sheer, almost transparent
with a little pinch of color.
This I think actually gives pretty decent coverage.
I used to use this as a mixing medium
and I would mix it with a Dior,
I think it's called the Face and Body foundation.
And that was like the perfect, perfect combination.
It would just kind of give that foundation
a little bit of a glow.
It was absolutely beautiful.
So this retails for $49.
So now we're getting up to that $50 range.
It has a radiant finish.
It's very hydrating to the skin,
hence being a tinted moisturizer,
and it has light coverage.
But I really like this.
I think if you're looking for a good tinted moisturizer,
something hydrating, this would be a good one to go with.
Okay, let's talk about the Iris & Romeo Weekend Skin
SPF 50.
So Iris & Romeo have two products in this lineup.
They came up as a highly ranked tinted SPF on Sephora's site.
Highly ranked, highly rated, best sellers.
And this was actually described on Sephora's website
as layering really well underneath this product.
So you can use the two together.
I actually haven't done that.
That's a great idea.
I'm gonna do that.
So this has vitamin C in it.
So it also brightens the skin.
It has a glow to it.
It only comes in three shades, I think.
Is that correct?
Yeah, it comes in three shades.
It has a radiant finish and sheer coverage.
This retails for $50.
I have the shade Warm Glow.
So let me swatch this on my hand,
and you'll also see me applying it here
so you can see how it applies on the skin.
Three shades is not a lot.
When I first put this on,
it did look like it's a little too dark for me.
And you know what?
I need to actually go and try the other shades
because I actually didn't test the shade
that would be lighter than this.
So I can't speak on if that would have been a better match.
This was just one that I ordered online.
So you can see it's quite a bit darker.
But again, when I blended this on my skin,
it just worked.
It blended into the skin.
You know, you'll find that with sheer products like this,
that they're more flexible
because they're not loaded with as much pigment
as like a medium or full coverage foundation would be.
So even if they look too dark when you first apply it,
when it's like concentrated,
once you blend it out and sheer it out, it'll work.
I mean, I put it on the skin and I definitely looked tan,
but it didn't look ridiculous.
I could still wear it.
But I liked this product enough
to go and purchase another shade in it.
I think it's really beautiful.
It gives a really pretty glow to the skin.
I think if you're looking for a glow and a radiance
from a tinted SPF,
of all the ones that I'm sharing today,
I think the Iris and Romeos would be the top two
that deliver that.
Others do, but that one really just gives this
like really unique, glowy, dewy radiance to the skin.
Those are probably the top two for a dewy glow.
Okay, let's get over to a recent favorite.
If you watch my videos,
you have heard me ranting about this product.
Ranting actually means a negative thing.
Raving, raving about this product months ago.
The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Dewy SPF 30.
Tinted moisturizer, this blew me away, you guys,
when I discovered this.
And I bought this, I don't know,
maybe six months ago and tried it for the first time.
Blew me away.
I would put these two neck and neck to each other.
They're both really great for tinted moisturizers.
Because like I said, when I look at tinted moisturizers,
I've never been a fan of them.
One, because I think that usually the tints
are so transparent and so sheer,
it's like, what's the point?
Or two, they have more coverage,
but they don't feel like a true moisturizer.
I feel like both of these actually feel like skincare,
like moisturizer on the skin,
but they give great coverage
for being a tinted moisturizer as well.
So this retails for $50.
It has light coverage, a natural finish,
and it comes in 20 shades.
I have the shade 2C Oak.
This wears really beautiful under foundations.
Both of these do.
These tinted moisturizers both wear
really beautiful under foundation.
So you can pair either one of them
with a foundation that's gonna look really nice.
But a lot of times when I'll wear either of these,
I'll put this on, I'll put some concealer on,
and I might dust a little bit
of Jane Iredell powder foundation on top
just for a little extra coverage
and a little setting property.
But I find that I don't really need to wear foundation
with these most times.
So 2C Oak, it definitely leans a little bit more,
a little lighter on me, you'll see.
But again, because it's sheer
and it's not super, super pigmented, look at that.
It's almost like when it blends into the skin,
it almost completely disappears.
Keep in mind, my hand is lighter than my face.
So it looks like the perfect match for my hand.
On my skin, I think I could have gone
a little bit deeper on my face, but it works.
Like I said, it works.
It's beautiful.
It does give, I think, a little bit of a glow
without looking dewy.
If you use this without a moisturizer underneath it,
like you use this as your moisturizer,
it will give more of a natural finish.
If you pair this on top of a moisturizer,
you'll have a bit more of a dewy finish.
That's what I have found, at least in my experience.
Okay, and last, you guys,
we have the Isden Photo Ageless Ultra Light Emulsion.
And I'm excited to share this product
because this is not a product
that I see a ton of content beauty creators talking about.
I actually discovered this from my friend, Andrea,
who is an athlete.
She used to be a pro volleyball player.
She's actually the wife
of the UT women's volleyball team here in Austin.
So she's very, very sporty, athletic.
She's outside all the time.
She played beach volleyball.
And this was something she raved about.
This was a brand that they sold in the dermatology office.
And I always know that when I see brands
that are sold at dermatology offices,
that they kind of pass a certain test.
You know, they are a certain standard of skincare.
They also sell this at Sephora now, you guys.
So this has an SPF of 50.
It comes in two sizes.
This size is 3.4 ounce, and it retails for $78.
They do have a 1.7 ounce, which is standard,
which if we want to compare it to these others
that I have here for an idea,
this is a 1.5 ounce of product.
So the 1.7 of this retails for 50.
So it's kind of comparative to the rest of them.
What we're seeing here is the larger size.
So it's quite a bit more.
They say that this is best for dry, combo, or normal skin.
They do not have oily skin here listed,
which I could kind of understand why.
And I'll get to that in a second.
Another thing about this product,
which I found interesting,
is it protects and helps repair against existing sun damage
because it has DNA repair zones,
which repairs existing sun damage.
So kind of neat.
And I will say of all of these,
this is very different than any of these.
This is very unique and unlike any of these.
I'm gonna show you.
Listen, do you hear that?
It's a very lightweight, watery texture,
and you'll see me here apply it to the skin.
As far as coverage, the coverage is very sheer.
Very, very sheer.
It's not something that you're gonna get much coverage from.
You're still gonna see
a lot of your imperfections through it.
But let me show you this consistency, you guys.
It's very, very lightweight.
You can see it almost drops out like water.
When you apply it to the skin, it's very, very sheer.
It gives a really dewy finish to the skin.
Super, super lightweight.
This does wear well under foundation, I have found.
This is the foundation that I would use
if I were going to the beach
and I was gonna spend a lot of time outside.
I would opt to use this one
because I'm gonna get really great sun protection.
It's also water-resistant.
It's 100% mineral sunscreen, water-resistant,
SPF of 50, lightweight.
It doesn't feel heavy or thick on the skin.
This one's really, really nice.
They have other versions,
but this is the one that has the tint to it.
So really love that one as well.
And I'm excited to share that.
If you haven't heard of that,
if you have tried that brand specifically,
drop a comment down below, let us know.
I think the cons of it would be
that if you're looking for a tinted SPF
that's actually gonna give a lot of coverage,
I wouldn't go with that one.
I mentioned that it wasn't recommended for oily skin
and I mentioned how I can kind of see that.
What I mean by that is that you can see
that there's a very shiny, dewy look.
Very shiny, dewy look.
And it is honestly pretty dewy for me.
I do need to go in and either apply more of a natural
or a matte product on top of it to tone that down.
But if you're oily,
I think that it would be like grease city real quick.
So maybe that's why it's not recommended for oily skin.
But again, you can combat that by powdering it
or using a product on top of it
to kind of balance out that dewiness.
But even though it's really dewy,
it's not heavy, which is nice.
It doesn't feel heavy or thick like some dewy products do.
So I like this one and I think it's really unique.
And I think that if I were, of all of these products,
if I'm spending time at the beach or outside a lot,
or I'm just gonna spend the day outside,
this is the one I would reach for.
So less cosmetic purposes, more of like,
give me that sun protection
cause I'm gonna need it today.
That's this guy right here.
That wraps up this video.
I hope that you enjoyed it.
I hope you took away something from this video
and it helps you in some way
when you are shopping for your next tinted SPF.
I'm gonna tag all the products on YouTube shopping
so you can find them down below
and you can shop them directly at Sephora.
If you have any questions or requests for other categories
that you'd like me to do a video on this,
drop them in the comments down below
and I'm happy to do that.
Thank you for watching.
I hope you have a beautiful day
and I will see you in my next video.
