UPDATE - This week we have a major change of plans as the border crossing we were hoping to use from Spain to Morocco is closed 😭 Leaving us no choice than to book a 47 hour ferry from Marseille in France over to Morocco. But STILL not complaining, we're well on our way to completing Mission: DRIVE TO MOROCCO in our bus! 🇲🇦 🥳 Woohoo where we've decided we don't want another cold winter in the UK. Our mates @eamonandbec mentioned they'd be heading back to Morocco to pick up their van trinity and we couldn't think of a lovelier place to spend Christmas 🎄 In the mean time, we travel to Biarritz and spend the day with a lovely local French man✌️
This video is sponsored by Squarespace.
What is happening guys? We're Craig and Amy and you are watching Kingin' It!
What's happening lads? If you've been watching this series then you'll know
that we're trying to drive Custard all the way to Morocco but this week
we've had a bit of a spanner in the works.
It's been a wild ride so far on this trip and we've only been away for three weeks
but this is what life on the road has been like for us.
We left the UK and headed for France.
Yes France! This is sick!
We've personally delivered some Yorkshire tea bags to a stranger.
Oh listen guy, I haven't gone all day.
We got chauffeured around the French countryside for Amy's 13 year canterversary.
Our hot water broke so we haven't washed.
Oh I'm crying, oh no!
I smell my feet.
I'm vegan Craig.
And we haven't brushed our hair.
Alright shall we be ready for the day?
Overall this fan liver malarkey hasn't been too bad.
Southern France!
But this week we've had a bit of a hurdle that we need to try and get over.
Morocco has banned flights to and from the UK due to the coronavirus.
Morning team!
Welcome back.
No we haven't been in bed since the end of the last vlog.
We've had a couple of days trotting about haven't we kid?
Yeah good.
So we've driven all the way from La Rochelle slash Ile de Ré down to a place called Biarritz
and we're like two minutes from the beach on this little park up with a bunch of other campers.
This place is stunning isn't it?
It's lovely.
As you can see Captain B is not even awake yet.
But yeah we spent a few days, we took some downtime on Ile de Ré which is a really cool
little island.
We got some lunch on this little harbour.
I had a surf, we had a couple of swims and stuff.
It was just a really cool spot.
But there wasn't a massive amount to film so we sort of just chilled out there and then
made our way down this way.
So today when this kid gets up we're going to explore Biarritz.
Have a kettle on then kid.
Morning Clive.
Oh come on.
Aladdin called, he's asked how long you're going to keep his carpet for.
Where's the carpet?
Well you've got his vest as well, he wants that back here.
Stop it.
I was waiting for you to say something about the hat and I picked three hats this morning.
I was like Craig Ritter and she's like where and he chose this one and I thought
he's going to call me a farmer or something.
How's the potato growing going?
Yeah there you are.
There you go.
Right get out.
I'm ready.
Where's my flying carpet?
It's not a carpet but uh do you want a lift?
What a glorious day.
It's a belter today kid.
It is but it's still nippy so we've got our jumpers on.
Also look at this van.
Oh what a beauty, look at this place.
It's so cool.
As we were driving down we saw the mountains of the Pyrenees and they just come out of nowhere.
We were like wow we've got like surf spot with mountains in the background.
The first night we got here the sunset was incredible.
This is a wonderful spot.
Tell the audience the real reason why we came to Biarritz babes.
Well it's meant to be like a really nice place for food and like things to see and that.
Nah it's pumping surf here.
Yes brads this is sick.
Back in the 50s people like Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe,
all those classy chicks they used to come here for their holidays.
So of course we fitted in because we're quite classy as well aren't we Craig?
But it is one of the most expensive places in the south of France.
So funny just seeing people walk through the
middle of the city with a surfboard and a wetsuit on.
First stop breakfast.
Look at the state of that.
I know.
Like a rainbow on a plate.
Maybe that will give us enough energy to like
trot about the town, give you enough energy in your legs to take us anywhere we want to go today Craig.
Warm as well.
I mean that's hell of a hell of a cauliflower salad.
Do you know what I mean?
I was not expecting that.
France I take it back.
Whatever I said about your prime minister not having enough vegan options.
Take it all back.
This looks lovely.
Thank you so much.
So tasty.
I want to do a quick cheers to custard the bus for getting us this far already.
Without too many problems.
To custard.
Touch wood.
Please don't break.
Breakfast done.
Now we're heading to the old port to have a little wander.
But the sun's out.
It's a market day today.
The streets are busy.
It's 50% of everything and we've got to have a shop Craig.
I've always got a plan you haven't you?
Don't worry when you go surfing I'll just take
la credit card and I'll be off.
And you'll be la single real soon.
I mean come on though.
Wouldn't I look lush in that?
Oh doesn't that look so nice though?
It looks so inviting.
Just crystal clear water because that side is just pumping waves.
But in here it's just like a little swimming pool.
Stunning me.
Beach day tomorrow yeah?
Yeah I think we need to don't we?
Yeah.
What is that?
Because it doesn't say hotel.
I think that's someone's gaff.
It can't be someone's house.
Why not?
It's mad like it's too big.
Right on the beach front.
I mean that is the dream though isn't it?
King in it mansion.
It's literally a castle on the beach.
That's fantastic.
Shall we knock a door?
Rock paper scissors.
We might as well.
Rock paper scissors shoot.
Right go on then.
So Craig was on his way to the toilet.
Needed a little poop.
And I met Claude.
Claude was like do you fancy taking my photograph?
Of course we do.
He looks amazing.
He's 84.
He wants us to add him on Facebook as a mate.
Of course we will.
Right let's get you on Facebook.
The boy's still got it.
He's still getting numbers at 84 look.
And Claude is a cold water swimmer.
Yeah.
He swims all year round.
Yes.
He'll show you after the photograph.
Get a good snap.
Get a good snap first.
Loving it.
Fantastic.
Shortly after meeting Claude he showed us around his swimming club.
Changing rooms.
You got your flippers here.
And we found out he even swims when it's snowing.
What a legend.
No way.
And it's full of snow.
Oh I'd love to do it.
All right Craig's actually ran to the toilet because it was what he needed in the first
place before we met our beautiful friend.
But we're on our way down to the beach.
He's gonna have a sick Instagram.
We're taking loads of photos for him.
He's a hell of a guy.
He's so lovely.
He's so charming and he's got the best smile ever.
Claude's also rocking the Crocs.
Here he goes.
He's gonna do some yoga now look.
A legend.
84 years in a row.
Going for the 85th.
Never met a guy like him.
I think we could be best friends.
He's got Crocs and I've got Crocs.
Like we are soul buddies.
Go on Claude.
Oh yeah here he goes.
Legend.
He's buggered off but Claude's okay.
See you later.
See you tomorrow.
This is definitely one of the best things about traveling.
Just meeting absolute beauties like Claude.
I walked into the toilet and he was like photograph.
And I was like, a view?
And he's like, oui.
That was it.
Friends for life.
So we're going to come back tomorrow 2pm.
Go for a dip with Claude.
I mean I think that's what we've agreed.
We stopped off the Grand Plage Beach for a bit of sushi and a view.
Such a good vibe today.
Isn't it babes?
Probably the best sushi I've ever had as well.
And it's just great to people watching.
There's a surf pumping.
It's a Saturday.
Feel good vibes everywhere.
We're having a coffee now.
But it's not like me to not have anything sweet to go with it.
And obviously we're part of the vegan as you know.
So all the patisseries around France are just filled with eggs and butter.
Things we can't have.
So I've decided to challenge us Craig.
We've got a lovely bus.
We've got a lovely oven to make our own.
So the challenge for you.
You ready?
I'm ready.
You're gonna make vegan croissants and I'm gonna make macaroons.
Really?
I'm willing to give it a go.
I need me some patisserie in my life.
Are you up for the challenge?
Quite busy today.
It wasn't a question.
We're doing it.
Lost you for a bit.
But let me just give you a quick update.
So we went to the shop, bought a bunch of ingredients.
Yeah we're gonna do the challenge.
Amy wants to do a little baking challenge.
Then we got back.
I went to go for a surf and I've got a cold now because I nearly caught a wave and I came off.
I nearly caught a wave.
Nearly broke my neck and took on loads of water.
It was a sandbank so it was dangerous.
I nearly died.
And then we got back and then Amy was like oh here's the link for your how to make a croissant.
And I read the first line.
It was like take all of your ingredients and put it in the bread maker.
So baking challenge is off because we don't own one of them.
We've got a rice cooker but I don't think it'll be quite the same.
I mean we could have tried it.
You never know.
So baking's off.
I thought you could cook croissants in the oven.
So now we're in bed and we're watching RuPaul and that's it.
So we'll see you tomorrow.
RuPaul's drag race.
Good night.
We will try and bake again because I need the cake.
So we'll give it another go.
We'll come up with something really good.
Cheers.
No maybe we'll buy a bread maker.
Before we carry on with the video we'd like to thank this week's sponsor Squarespace.
So Alex you're doing pretty well for yourself.
It's Alexandra and I'd be doing a lot better for myself if these lazy employees
would hurry up a bit.
Yes Jane I'm talking about you.
Alexandra how did you make your millions?
Well I have a fantastic online presence and an award-winning business
but I have to say all my success is due to my website.
Can you tell us a little bit more about that?
Oh yeah.
Marcia!

I need a new Gucci.
All right lads.
Before we came we knew that the ferries from Spain to Morocco weren't running
but we were hoping that they would open up.
But this morning babes we got some bad news.
Morocco has banned flights to and from the UK due to the coronavirus.
So we might have to look at that really horrible long plan B.
I'm not doing that.
I'm not, I'm not doing that.
Well it won't be you will it be me?
So this was our plan when we set off from Wales.
We would travel all the way down through France into Spain,
pop into Portugal to see some friends and end up in the south of Spain.
Plan A was to get a ferry from Spain to Morocco which takes one hour.
We knew that they weren't running but potentially could open on the 1st of November.
But now that Morocco have banned all flights from the UK
we have devised a plan B in case the borders from Spain remain closed.
Plan B is to drive all the way from where we are now to Marseille
and get a 47-hour ferry to Morocco.
We have booked a spot on the 4th of November as we know this is definitely an option.
Plan A is to wait until the 1st of November
and hope that the one-hour ferry starts running again.
Pray for us lads.
If the 1st of November comes and it's still not running we drive to Marseille.
I will get the ferry with custard and Amy will get a flight and meet me there.
I get really boat sick.
So lads keep your fingers crossed for plan A.
All right now it's time to go meet Jean-Claude van's swimming shorts.
Bye custard.
Tell you what today it is a beauty.
Yesterday was nice but today it's like 21 degrees.
Boiling hot but we're late of course.
So we got about 15 minutes to pedal a couple of miles to meet Jean-Claude.
Wish us luck.
Craig, yeah I understand this goes on any...
Mike Jones mate, you can't have s*** with him.
Question now is were we lost in translation or is Claude going to be there?
Without Claude.
All right he's on his way down to the water so we've got to get changed real quick.
He's about to get in.
Is he?
Yeah he's about to get in and run.
We missed him.
Amy took too long getting undressed so he's already in.
But we'll meet him in there it's fine.
We were late to be fair.
He's just putting on a show.
I knew he'd be causing havoc.
I think this is a swimming club initiation.
Whenever you're ready Claude.
Claude was checking out because he's freezing but we've convinced him to go back in.
Let's go, let's go.
I'll see, I'll see.
What's that mean?
It's good, it's good.
All right, okay.
What do you do Craig?
Have a bathe before you go in.
So nice.
It is so nice.
Nice.
Oh give us a chew Claude.
No love, no worries, so think that I love you, and when you understand, wake up, I'll be there.
The pipe's on you boy, that's great.
Magnifique, very magnifique.
So glad we caught up with the man, the myth, the legend.
Claude you are a gentleman, thank you so much for having us this morning.
It was so good, like if you're going to come to Billets,
it's worth coming just to find him and go for a swim.
Yeah.
He's just such a nice guy and like he took us in the swimming club after,
we had a hot shower and stuff and he gave us like shower gel and that.
We sang in the shower together, it was really romantic.
Oh he's literally made my trip here.
He's been class, he's a lovely French man.
We stopped off for a little beer in the sun and we forgot that Amy's half Irish.
Did you burn?
I burnt myself, I've got a beanie on and I've got sunburn.
It's that Irish skin.
After a wonderful day out in the sunshine,
we went home back to Custard's to another van life reality.
All of our power's gone out, our batteries just don't charge anymore,
so the only thing that we've got left is the projector.
All the freezer stuff's going to melt, we can't cook because it's dark.
What else babes?
Craig's afraid of the dark so this is going to go well.
Amy's got hiccups, she's had them for about 10 hours.
So another van life reality.
If anyone knows how to make sure your batteries are charged properly,
let me know in the comments or DM me because ours are doing my boxing.
Yeah, DM him hon because solar power, that's a myth,
it's been boiling all day today, I've got sunburn.
Wait there, I can't see you.
Who's there?
It's been really hot all day today.
And yeah, we didn't get any solar and we should have
because we've got like 300 watts of it on the roof.
So if somebody could give me a ring tomorrow and let me know how to fix that,
that'd be great.
So we can't wash, we can't make a cup of tea,
all of our fridge stuff's going to go off.
There's gas, you can make a tea and I will have one.
Oh, the gas has run out as well, I can't believe it.
Van life baby!
Hi lads, so the weather's not that great today,
so we're doing a bit of an admin day.
First job, drop off a bag of poo.
Second job, find some laundry.
After all that laundry, we decided we were hungry
and Captain B got on the ones and twos to make some eggs.
So this is vegan egg mix, no eggs in the mix.
Apparently you get an omelette.
It's just stuck, it's not even cooked.
What's the consistency like then?
I don't know.
Today wasn't our day.
When we checked our wiper, we had our first French find, sacre bleu.
Trevor wanted to go surfing, didn't she?
So we're miles away from the beach, Bike Jones is up
and we're going to try and carry the surfboard.
Midnight Mal.
Midnight Mal on Bike Jones to the beach.
Wish us luck.
Come on then Midnight Mal.
So I've never really been surfing, I'm not very good
but I like to give it a go, you know.
All right, what's the name of this beach?
Basque something.
We had to swap because Amy couldn't hold the surfboard.
Yeah, it's too heavy.
I'm surprised this bike's even moving with all of us in.
We had a lot of bread yesterday, Craig.
As I was saying before, I don't consider myself a professional by any means.
I'm actually a little bit worried because the waves in Biarritz are quite big.
It looks okay at the moment.
I'm just afraid of losing my glasses.
That's the main fear reason.
Those beginners.
I think we're gonna be all right.
You're in good hands, babes.
I'm famous around here, they call me Holmesy.
Holmesy knows best.
What's help in French?
About to catch the wave of her life.
What if we hit someone with the board?
There's a lot of people out but this beach is massive and beautiful.
We've got a wonderful day for it.
Look at that for a view.
Look, look, he's about two.
Two years old to be standing there.
Oh, we've got the Pyrenees in the background.
We've got a beautiful Biarritz city behind us.
What a day, love.
What a day.
All right, I've had my wipe out.
I've had my cry because I can't see and we're going back in.
Determined to stand her today.
I think Amy just ran over a kid.
I haven't seen him for a while.
Hopefully he's okay.
Okay team, that is it for this week's video.
Thanks for watching.
Hope you enjoyed Trevelini getting some waves.
Getting some waves off my bum.
That doesn't make sense.
We'll come back next week because we've got about a week
until we're going to be catching a boat to Morocco.
Whether it's from Spain or whether it's from France, we don't know yet.
But yes, it is no secret.
We are going to Morocco and we're meeting Ayman and Bek while we're there.
They're there, we're there.
We're going to have such a great time.
We've got so many fun things planned for when we get there.
We're very excited.
It's going to be sick.
Yeah, they keep texting us every day like,
guys, we can't stop crying because you're not here with us.
And we're like, all right, you're so needy.
Like we won't be here a minute.
Just wait.
But yeah, see you next week, lads.
One, two, three, bye.
Hang on, before we go, some words of wisdom from...
What's my new name?

Bit of shoulder, eh?
Plan is to drive all the way to Morocco.

Yes.
I'm sweating my t*** off.
No, I know.
