When CERN switched on the Large Hadron Collider in 2008, global panic ensued. Headlines warned this machine had the power to create a black hole that could endanger the Earth. But could CERN really create a black hole? And if they did, what would actually happen?

This deep dive into physics uses compelling visuals and explores the maths involved in such a scenario.
Good morning traders. It's Tuesday, January 13th and a bunch of symbols. I'm gonna jump through from some of you asking last night yesterday
So I'm gonna go through those and then kind of just update from there overall markets are
Trading slightly lower in terms of equities. We're seeing bonds relatively flat seeing the dollar up two-tenths gold is flat
Silver's up 2%
Platinum and plating were both down a little bit. So
Nothing, no big movers today other than silver which I'll touch on in a minute, but silver continues to push up
it's ripping higher and
Has that a potential for another very big leg as we talked about 206 in ounce
Potentially while gold probably runs to 51 50 200
But anyway, let's jump over a few other charts. Some of you want to know about the semiconductor space. So
We're definitely seeing it have it's got a bullish sign. We've got the long-term trend up
Intermediate
Short-term and the kind of momentum cycles are moving averages, which is the 150 the 20 and the 5
Definitely has got a series of bull flags and bullish chart patterns when we look at it. It's rallied. It's paused. It's rallied
It's had a high momentum quick pause and it's pushing
Looking like it wants to go higher if we cleared this up and just use just basic Fibonacci
We could take the low we could take this high and this low
That shows us where that next upside thrust could be for
Semiconductors 100% measured move is about a three point seven percent move to the upside. So there's potential there
What's interesting here when we look at the semiconductors just recalibrate here and we look at the mags
Naturally, I was expecting these to somewhat move together, but overall we are not
So if we take a look at the top chart
This is the SMH which is breaking out and pushing to highs and the semi can or sorry that mag 7 is
Continuing to kind of coil more. So just trade sideways through the middle of its range. It's really in the middle of no-man's-land
between the range of the high and the low and you know, it doesn't have a whole lot of
Energy in it. It's you know, when something trades sideways, it does build energy
The big question is which way is it going to break?
So we'll just have to see how that is but semiconductors are showing signs of strength
They continue to go another one. You guys want to look at was ITA, which is the aerospace and defense
Obviously, there's a lot going on globally and we're seeing that really start to pick up speed if we zoom back you can see here
It's put in a bottom. It's really starting to rocket higher
When we look at the chart pattern, it feels like it's kind of done
It's more major move and we've had a few people ask about it. And of course, it's hitting highs
Usually when people ask about it
It's usually getting a little long in the teeth in terms of it needs to reset
So if we take the low we take this high up here we take this low
You can see it's pretty much made that core move, right? It's had to run up
It's had the high momentum bull flag hit the six one eight
It's chopped around and now it's just a little bit away from that next hundred percent measured move. And what is that percentage wise?
It's not very far away
1% upside before it could run into
You know a bigger resistance area and just my gut not that we trade off our gut
But my gut is also saying a lot of this chaos with all the oil and all that stuff
I think all of that chaos
I feel like is pretty much getting worked into the markets right now and I feel like it's about to end and
Usually, you know everybody piles into moves around that news right at the last minute
Just as that news and everything is gonna be priced in it's the move is done and everybody starts to get numb to that data
and that
Expectation so I'm not a big fan of ITA simply because there's not a whole lot of upside
It's had its move and it's already kind of done that another one to look at here is
PSLY so let me just flip back to the other chart
PSL, I'm sorry PSL V the Sprott silver ETF
Then just so you guys know the Sprott silver ETF SLV. Whoever that one is
So V
Which is I shares they're all the same trade it they you know
It's all based around silver. And of course, we don't use really ETF so much for targets
We actually use the usually the underlying commodity to get an idea of where things are. So we've got this upside target
I mean, we've got silver breaking out and running higher and really the upside target for silver is
106 so if silver hits 106
I'd definitely be looking to lock in some gains if you're long the silver space or moving or tightening your stops up
simply in your ETFs, so it doesn't matter if you've got SLV or
PSLV they're all the same thing and they're all based on silver. So my silver analysis is the same as those
Silver miners you guys want to look at silver miners if we look at the most
Conservative kind of view which is this little launch pad here. We've got the big run up
We've got a very clear pullback. It comes to the six one eight. We've seen it treading water here the next upside move for
Gold miners like GDX is based on yesterday's close is about seven and three quarter percent upside
So there is still some decent upside
Percentage wise there that'll be the same across the board pretty much for silver miners and all of that
If we just look at the initial run and pullback, it's going to be roughly the same
Obviously you can use very conservative pivot low. You can use this pivot low if we were to just chart this here
Yes, SLV is actually almost there already
Percentage wise it's about half of the upside potential as gold miners. So that's actually kind of interesting
I think the gold miners has got that
Potential to have a bigger move
If we go and take a look over at Platinum and Palladium Platinum's just and Palladium just starting to turn positive
They were in this big consolidation here. We've talked about how you get this big run up now. It's creating this
apex this
continuation formation that can point to higher moves and when we look at the comparison chart of
2007 2008 I
Feel like we could be somewhere kind of in this, you know
We've had a nice run where money's moved in and everything's taking a bit of a pause and
Now we're starting to see things pick up speed and you can see here. They can have a very explosive move
There's platinum down here palladium big moves right near the end. I feel like we're getting very close to one more big
Push up. I feel like if we were to just draw on the chart where we are right now for all of these
I still feel like we're kind of in this
Tool here. I still feel like we're kind of in this phase like right through here
I think things are just starting to break out and then after that we could see a much bigger
Unwinding where things sell off and everything sold off pretty much 60 plus percent
So that's not what everybody wants to hear but that's how sentiment that's how people move the markets are just people's emotions
It's just money moving in and out we focus on the trends and we focus on the money flows
That tells us what people are thinking and doing with their money and that's more important than the news
Usually the news will get you on the wrong side or I'll get you into a whole bunch of positions you get
Overpositioned in it because the news gets you emotional feels like a sure thing and then of course, it's not and it backfires
Which kind of leads into the other question. We had another member talking about how
they were just they've got a very
large portion of their portfolio in gold and
they said they're just going to hold gold till it hits 51 and
They're not going to if they're more
From my understanding is more so a belief of trades to make money not so much playing it for like, you know
Currencies and countries collapsing, but I think the thing with just picking these high upside targets
And just saying I'll get out when it hits that target is if we don't hit that target and we do see something top
That portfolio is going to get damaged pretty hard. It's important. I believe to
Scale out if it's a trade to manage risk and the position
it's not about making the full move and making as much as you possibly can as much as we all want to do that and
I would want to do that
you do need to manage risk because a lot of times trades don't work out and they don't reach those targets and they roll over
and you turn a winner into a loser if you haven't locked in partial profits and if more than
Half of your portfolio is in precious metals and you're not managing that risk
You are risking a severe hit eventually and it'll backfire
So that's again
that's what I'm always trying to help is people manage their portfolio their risk people have way more risk in their portfolio than they expect and
They never see it and feel it until it's too late
unfortunately, but

so let's take a quick look at the hot list and just run through a couple triggers just so people can get a feel for
How I see things and think and feel about them
We'll just start at the bottom usually lower on the list means the trends are generally not as strong
With especially the longer-term green trend the moving average is usually flat or trading down
Not always depends on long if the markets in a bull market and has been for years
Without any positive pullbacks then a lot of times most of these sectors can still have an upward sloping
But usually near the bottom of the list or the second half usually things are getting a little bit weaker
Now if we look at IYR, this is the real estate space. This is going back to
May of last year just looking at this chart is choppy
It's sideways the moving averages are crisscrossing all over the place
That is a sign that you just don't want to touch it
So if you ever see a chart like that your best just to move on you're better to just avoid it
PBJ the peanut butter and jam industry. This is a food and beverage if we take a look at it
Overall looks like it's making a series of lower highs
The long-term moving average is moving down even though it has a purple momentum trigger saying hey, it's got a bid if found
It's had a pop
Just because it has a trigger doesn't mean we're that really interested in it
And you can see here the risk is off on the chart here the short term trend is down
Long term the market is trying to recover but just because it's trying to recover doesn't mean it will it just means it's having
A pause and trying to figure things out
So overall again ignore something like that as we move up the list this one's green across the board
It's risk on long-term trend is up short-term trend is up, which we can see with the moving averages
Overall, we do have the 50-day moving down
But we have the crossover the 20 days crossing above the five days crossing above so it definitely has a mixed signal
There's no doubt. The long-term trend is up. It is in a big consolidation
You could say this has got a big ABC correction
it's now how to pop a little bull flag and it looks like it's primed and ready to maybe have another push and move back
Up, so it is showing a little bit of interest here. It's right into resistance getting right into this previous high
So I have a little bit of selling pressure. It's an overhead supply there, but it is starting to look a little bit better
I don't think I would take it as a trade to be honest
But it's starting to look a little bit better and then let's move up to the highest one, which is the MJ
Which is the kind of harvest or the marijuana space? This one is if we zoom out a little bit
The long-term trend is moving up. This one is very volatile. I'm not a fan of this space at all
You can see we have these 68% pops and within a week it can drop 16% again
Big 40% moves you can lose 44% it can spike
100% it can pull back
40% this is not the type of play that I like this is for some this is lotto ticket trading
this is like you're swinging for the fences is riddled with news and
If you catch one of these big pops on news and you know, you're in that space you track it really well
It feels pretty good, but it backfires big-time. Just look at this going back in time
Pretty much all of these pops and rallies get sold into it's very short-lived. We have this type of noise we have right here
Let me just zoom in is very similar to this
He gets a lot of attention and then just falls out of bed and it does that over and over again
It holds its ground gets a lot of attention and then hits new lows
so this is the type of price action you just got to be aware of so if we were looking at this from the
Trend the long-term trend is somewhat moving up. The other moving averages are all sloping down and it's volatile. So
Out of the hot list, you know, the RK is the only one that looks somewhat interesting and
At this point, I still don't really feel like that. They're that exciting the MJ here also is risk off
So money's still moving out of the space and the short-term trend is down
Which you can tell just by the key moving averages here the 50-day the 20-day are all down and it's not a good sign
So to wrap things up, I want to just touch on to two comments. I thought were kind of fun yesterday
And then also a trader tip out of my book technical trading mastery so yesterday morning's report
We had some good comments in there and some funny sounds
Fatship, I talked about how I was working on my invention and I'm gonna share some more on it
Hopefully some of your electronic engineers and I got a lot of sensors and all kinds of stuff going on that
I've got to put together
but he shared this video which my sister-in-law share with me about two weeks ago because I'm always in the shopping everybody can hear me
banging and clanging and
Getting hurt and all kinds of stuff going on. They're always like what's he building in there?
This is the creepiest song
You'll ever hear and then it goes on and another member of Liz West 7-7
we talked about she talked about a
Seven-year-old broke out the lathe and started to put on the goggles and started to work with it
And it's lathe scare me. In fact lathe is something that spins and it's always scared me
There's some really nasty clips you can get caught and they are so strong
they will pull you in and kill you and wrap you around that machine, but ladies have always freaked me right out and
Yesterday are sorry on Sunday morning. My daughter was making us pro pierogies. And of course the onions were so strong
She had to throw on her
Goggles, which was pretty funny
But anyways, let's wrap up trader tip of the week here
If we take a look the first tip here is only price pays. I talked about this all the time only price pays
This is the most important thing know that the only thing that matters when trading is price not news
Not your gut not somebody else's opinions
You just have to follow price and I kind of mentioned this last night in the update is
It's not about following the news and all that stuff. You can knock yourself out with that. Although it will
leak into your trading and investing strategies and positions because it raises fear it will sell you on
Being heavyweighted in one particular area and it works great until it doesn't but anyways, that's it for now and we'll talk to you soon
