The cola rebels came after a brief pause in the chaos
As always the wind blows from the east
A few years ago I returned to my hometown
Kathmandu the capital of Nepal to chase my dreams
To make them come true
Nepal is a place where your wildest imaginations come to
life My dream was to explore the stunning landscapes
and cultures of the Himalayas in Nepal
But contrary to popular belief
This diverse country offers much more than just the Himalayas
It's a destination where you can
do so much more than just head
to the mountains—entirely different worlds await you out there
And it's not just the places but also the people their cultures and the
countless festivals that will keep
drawing you back to Nepal again and again
They come to Nepal for
the scenery but return for the kindness of the people
How much diversity can you realistically expect from any single destination
You'll have your hands full trying to keep up with what you can expect

Whether you're planning a trip to Nepal
or simply want to appreciate just how
breathtakingly beautiful this Himalayan nation truly is this video is for you
So let's count down our favorite destinations from
the most popular to the lesser-known hidden gems
And along the way I’ll also share my story of how
I began earning a living by traveling the world
From its most remote settlements in the isolated western reaches of the
country to the breathtaking tea plantations stretching far into the east
Get ready for a unique taste of Nepal unlike anything you've ever seen before
To gain easy access to all these regions I find myself in Patan—the heritage and
cultural Mecca of the Kathmandu Valley—my
home and personal gateway to the Himalayas
Living amidst medieval temples and palaces and
timeless tradition and art is an experience in itself
After several years of traveling alone and exploring
countless regions I met another fellow adventurer
And for the past two years the two of us have
been exploring and filming this incredible country
together Throughout our journeys we've reached
places nearby and others that are truly far away
Don't forget to subscribe to our channel to
explore Nepal and the rest of the world with us
And first on our list of favorite places to visit
in Nepal in no particular order is Gosaikunda
Also known as Silu it is one of 108 lakes scattered across the region
Just north of Kathmandu it's one of the nearest treks
to the capital and can be completed in under a week
The glacial lake connected to the Trishuli River remains frozen throughout the
winter and holds religious significance for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims
And it's not just the serene waters of Gosaikunda that make your journey unforgettable a
seven-day trek to Gosaikunda is the perfect way to experience the region's breathtaking beauty
alpine forests river streams mountains and lakes
Along the way you pass through traditional settlements of the Tamang ethnic group
If you haven't already noticed we're absolutely fond of lakes nestled
high in the mountains—bringing us to the second stop on our list
Gukyo in the Everest region is one of our absolute favorite
lakes It's actually a system of several interconnected lakes
With the number of nearby lakes Gukyo offers a delightful experience when staying at one
of the comfortable lodges and although Everest
Base Camp is far more popular in this region
The Gukyo trek is arguably the more scenic route
Walking through the extraordinary landscapes of the Everest region will leave you breathless as you
literally tread the roof of the world and you can
also combine the Everest Base Camp trek with the Gokyo trek
which will take you on an epic crossing of the Chola a summit
pass that links two glacial valleys at an elevation of 5 200 meters
And to reach the Everest region you also fly into
one of the most astonishing airports in the world
Two things I love
doing more than anything else First exploring new places and experiencing different cultures
Second filming my journeys and editing them into something meaningful informative and uplifting
I began my career as a freelance photographer working with clients from diverse backgrounds
After seven years of still photography I transitioned to video production in 2020
And with this shift my life's path drew me even deeper into
exploring the world and capturing it in audio-visual form
Over 120 different languages are spoken here with Nepali also known as Khas Bhasa
serving as the common thread that unites the diverse communities living in this region
As you travel westward you'll encounter sparsely populated and deeply isolated regions and cultures
Dolpa is the largest district in the country A significant part of
the district is safeguarded by She Phok Sundho National Park
The name originates from the 12th-century She Monastery and
Phok Sundho Lake the deepest lake in Nepal both located here
Where is Upper Dolpa SaldangSaldang
How far is it from our viewpoint
It's a small lake An alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake
the shifting hues of Phok Sundho are almost otherworldly
It also marks the beginning of one of the greatest adventures awaiting you if you choose to hike the Upper Dolpa trail
Just beside Lake Phok Sundho lies the enchanting village of Ringmo
The simplicity and contentment of village life will make you reconsider the necessity of the fast-paced modern way of living
A 30-minute walk from the village following the lake’s edges leads to a 600-year-old Bon monastery
Bon is the pre-Buddhist indigenous religion of Tibet
The true majesty of the Himalayas can only be fully experienced by standing amidst them
Living in Kathmandu gives us almost instant access to the many marvels
of the Himalayas Countless stories of the places and their people
The Kathmandu Valley is your gateway to the mountains and home to numerous UNESCO World
Heritage Sites giving you a clear sense of just how rich it is in culture history and heritage
Not so long ago it was said that Kathmandu had more temples than houses
Many of these historical sites were destroyed in the aftermath of the 2015
earthquake Some have been restored while others are still undergoing renovation
Around these historic sites lie ancient settlements that still offer fleeting glimpses into what life was like here centuries ago
Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims travel from around the world to visit sacred temples here some of which have stood for centuries
Three ancient kingdoms form the Kathmandu Valley The vibrant thread of
history and culture inspires anyone who wanders its narrow stone-paved alleys
The Darbar squares of Kathmandu Bhaktapur and Patan are lined with medieval temples and palaces featuring remarkable architecture
South of Kathmandu lies the Terai region which comprises one-third of Nepal's total land area
The Terai is home to endless lowland plains and dense jungles
Endless wildlife from tigers and rhinos to elephants roam these forests
Alongside nature diverse and vibrant cultures thrive in Nepal many of which have endured for thousands of years
The Tharu are the largest ethnic group in the region and inhabit the entire length of Nepal's Terai plains
They are among the earliest and most ancient inhabitants of the Torai Traditional Tharu
religion centers on the veneration of spirits especially those of the forest
The entire southern region is bordered by India and consists of national parks and protected areas where various animals roam through wildlife corridors
You can immerse yourself in nature at some remarkable hotels and resorts many located near Chitwan National Park
Unlike the widely held image of Nepal the Torai possesses a distinctly unique charm and breathtaking
scenery—entirely the opposite of the mountains located just over a hundred kilometers away
With the most extensive road network among Nepal's regions the Terai is ideal for thrilling road trips seamlessly linked end to end by the East-West Highway
In the southwest you can visit Lumbini the exact site where the Buddha was born over 2 000 years ago
Likewise during certain Hindu festivals thousands of Hindu pilgrims travel to Janakpur to honor Goddess Sita at the Janaki Temple
The Janaki Temple is an architectural marvel crafted entirely from stone and marble
The Torai will leave all your senses craving more The colors sounds
and intensity of the Torai cannot be found anywhere else in the country
The second largest city in Nepal after Kathmandu and widely regarded as the country's most popular tourist destination Pokhara lies at the base of the Himalayan Annapurna Range
It is also home to some breathtaking lakes nestled among the hills
Activities such as paragliding kayaking bungee jumping and canyon swinging offer thrilling adventures making Pokhara a perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts
Beyond serving as the gateway to some wonderful treks through the Annapurna Range Pokhara boasts numerous exceptional hotels nestled in some of the most breathtaking locations imaginable
Just a short drive from Kathmandu Pokhara offers serene moments surrounded by breathtaking views and stunning lakes
Or as a starting point for a mountain trek
At the opposite end of Nepal stretching all the way east to the border with the Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal lies Eelam
Eelam is a paradise for tea enthusiasts
Its misty atmosphere is the key to its renowned tea and otherworldly beauty
The rolling hills of Eelam have made it a haven for cultivating the world's most exclusive teas
Although not as popular as many other tourist destinations Eelam is definitely a must-visit whether you're a tea lover or not
The third highest peak Mount Kanchanjunga lies to the north and also encompasses another less-explored trekking region
One of the most popular trekking destinations and a relatively easier route Langtang offers rich Himalayan scenery mid-elevation hills and breathtaking valleys framed by towering peaks
Reduced to rubble by the 2015 earthquake it has once again become one of the most popular trekking destinations
The Langtang and Kanchan valleys are home to traditional Tibetan villages that offer a glimpse into the harmony between nature and culture
Once inside Langtang National Park domesticated yaks mules and horses are the only remaining means of transportation
Eating this roti grants you a power level of 25
From Kanchan village you can hike all the way to Kanchanri or Chergori the latter exceeding 5 000 meters both offering breathtaking 360-degree views of numerous mountain ranges
When trekking one must consider several factors including protection from varying weather conditions such as cold sun wind rain and snow as well as being prepared to cover long and challenging distances
Bringing or consuming locally available high-energy food can greatly enhance how rewarding and satisfying your trek feels
Staying in shape even when you're not hiking makes a big difference That way you can
spend more time enjoying the breathtaking views instead of struggling to catch your breath
The Manaslu region is a pristine trekking destination that has only recently emerged into the spotlight
This untapped treasure lies in the west central region and follows ancient salt trade route to Tibet
Some areas remained closed to trekkers until as recently as 2007—such as Chhum Valley which feels like a journey back in time
The region is home to Mount Manaslu the world's eighth highest mountain
Numerous waterfalls and suspension bridges alongside rice and millet farms can be seen throughout the region
Foreign nationals will need multiple permits to enter this region as the trek involves traversing various conservation areas in Manaslu and Annapurna linked by crossing the Larke Pass
Having the chance to walk among ancient monasteries and towering mountains and to engage in heartfelt conversations with locals Manaslu is truly worth every penny
Despite its small land area Nepal is a biological hotspot home to more than 17 000 animal species and over 13 000 plant species
Nearly a quarter of Nepal's land is protected to safeguard these ecosystems
Anyone planning to climb Mount Everest or trek to Everest Base Camp must pass through Namche Bazar a bustling tourist center similar to Thamel in Kathmandu but situated at an elevation of 3 400 meters
Unlike most other trekking destinations this region boasts a surprising number of cozy cafes restaurants and hotels
If you're seeking a shorter trek that lets you see the world's tallest mountains without the exhaustion of a long grueling hike fly to Lukla and then take a brief two-day walk to Namche Bazar
The walk itself is magnificent as you pass through vibrant Sherpa villages and traverse suspension bridges strung across towering cliffs and thundering rivers
You can spend your nights in Namche hopping between bars or enjoying some excellent food in this bustling mountain
tourist hub There are also a few other villages within easy reach of Namche
Just a short walk away lies Khumjung the largest Sherpa village home to monasteries that claim to house remains of the Yeti
Breathtaking mountain vistas surround you including the stunning Ama Dablam one of the most beautiful peaks imaginable
As tourism and mountaineering activity increased in the Everest region following the first ascent in 1953 the Sherpa villages of Khumbu expanded significantly over the decades that followed
And witnessing the unique way of life in these parts of the world is equally captivating
Tal is a lesser-known glacial lake offering a chance to camp for those seeking an extra dose of adventure
Perched at 4 250 meters your trek begins in Namche village ancient Gurung settlement that offers a profound immersion into the region's rich mountain heritage
The Gurung community of Nepal is believed to have migrated to the central region of the country from Mongolia in the 6th century
Did you feed them
Can we go up there
Can we give it
a try If you can go ahead If you can't you'll have to return
It lies at the start of the Manang trek and can be combined with the longer Annapurna Circuit trek
Stunning views of this remote lake accessible to very few also rank among the newest and least explored destinations on our list
The Dolanthal trek offers a fantastic alternative to tea house trekking routes and a three-day camping adventure might be exactly what you're looking for
While hiking through the mountains you'll encounter varying weather conditions but that's part of nature's charm
As you learn to enjoy and adapt to different conditions while traveling you'll also learn to do the same throughout your journey through life
Right at the heart of the Annapurna Circuit trek Manang is arguably the most popular trekking destination second only to the Everest region
It lies along the powerful Morshangdi River which rises near Manang village
The region is home to countless lakes including Tilicho the highest lake in Nepal
Manang village after which the entire region is named is one of the largest villages along the Annapurna Circuit
and serves as a popular resting spot for climbers acclimatizing before attempting the Dhorang La pass at 5 415 meters
In recent years Manang has carved out a reputation not only as a trekking destination but also as a place where you can drive
One can opt to drive from Pokhara though much of the journey would amount to an off-road adventure
which is in itself quite thrilling as you drive along the base of the Annapurna range Just be
sure to acclimatize to the altitude as you ascend
Scenic villages line the entire trail and along the way you may encounter sheep and yak herders who spend the whole year traveling in search of grazing lands
While exploring all the locations we've discussed throughout this video keep an eye out
for lesser-known spots that are just as mesmerizing and in some cases even more enchanting
Phraka village a mere 15-minute drive from Manang is a perfect example
At the top of the village stands a monastery and nearby lies the Milarepa Cave
which was used for meditation in the 11th century by Milarepa one of ancient Tibet's most renowned spiritual figures
Right across the village lies a strikingly beautiful pasture where we encountered this little fellow
The people of Manang observe various rituals and festivals throughout the year
The place is renowned for its high-altitude apples yaksakumba hunting archery horse racing and other time-honored traditions passed down through generations
And there are several impressive hotels scattered across Manang that have transformed the area into a vacation destination rather than just a trekker’s hotspot
Nestled between two colossal nations every sight within this small stretch of land is vid and utterly captivating
