Hey everybody, this is PJ Reilly from Lancaster Archery.
Coming to you today, we wanted to talk to you
about the importance of practicing shooting your bow
in the way that you are gonna hunt.
Whether it's from a tree stand or a ground line,
you wanna make sure you work some of those
shooting scenarios into your practice sessions.
It's finally nice weather, we're getting outside
to shoot our bows.
You probably hear some gunshots in the background.
We're at a shooting club.
Everybody just wants to get outside finally
and do some shooting.
So when you're shooting with your bow,
the natural thing of course is to stand on the ground
and shoot at a target down range.
That's fine, you're gonna shoot thousands of arrows
like that, no problem.
But, wanna make sure that you also practice shooting
how you're gonna hunt.
If you're a tree stand hunter or a ground line hunter,
there's some unique features there in your shooting
that you wanna stay familiarized with
so that come next fall, nothing surprises you.
So we got a couple scenarios set up here
and we're gonna do a little shooting.
You don't realize how much stability you give up
when you take your legs out of the equation.
Just when you have to sit down,
your body is a lot more unstable
than if you're standing up.
So, we wanna take a couple shots like this.
There's two shooting scenarios
when you're in a stool situation like this,
which would be shooting across both of your legs
or sometime you may be caught to where
your legs are kind of split and you're shooting this way.
If you have a preference, obviously practice that
but you might wanna practice both just in case.
Obviously, when you're shooting from a tree stand,
there are angles that you have to take into account
when you're a bow hunter.
Where are the vitals from an elevated position
versus being down at the ground.
And there's just some things with shooting form.
You wanna make sure you bend at the waist.
Don't just drop your front arm to take aim.
Just some things to keep in mind
when you're shooting from a tree stand
and the best way to do that is to just practice.
That's it guys, just some practice things
to think of this off season.
