Hey watch fans, Brad from Brent Miller Jewelers, and today I have a very simple question for you.
I pulled two Grand Seikos out of inventory and wanted to ask you if you were in the market
to purchase a Grand Seiko or even just looking at Grand Seiko, which of these two
dials or models would you prefer? So on my left is the SLGB003, the newer spring drive ultra
UFA movement, and on my right is the SLGH005, also known as the white birch high beat movement.
Just again had these in the kind of case very similar next to each other and thought I'd just
get them out side by side. If you're not familiar with the models, I'll link videos going through
the reviews of both of these going over all the specs. Just wanted to throw these side by side
today. I'll throw these on wrist, but I will let you know you have a full titanium bracelet
case here on my left on the 003 versus stainless steel. So in my hand here, quite a bit difference
in weight noticeable, as well as then you have a 37 millimeter case versus a 40 millimeter case. So
pretty significant. I think you can notice that size difference as well.
But needless to say, I think both great looking watches. As I get these closer here, you can see
the texture a little bit different on both of them. I've always been a fan of the white birch.
I'm on record as saying I love the dial. I gotta tell you, this 003 model here on my left, I think
I like the texture on that dial slightly more. The more I look at it, it's just, I don't know,
something to my eye that I find aesthetically pleasing. So again, all the specs, the individual
reviews of both of these will be in the description if you want to see more details on
one of these. This is really just kind of throw them side by side. Do you like titanium? Which
dial do you like better? And then sizing. Again, both three handers with a dated three o'clock
position. So let's throw these on wrist. I'm going to keep this video relatively short. I'm
on record as saying that I absolutely love this thing. So if I'm being honest, the only thing I
don't love is pricing. I should have mentioned that. Pricing on this is $11,400 versus the
white birch at $9,800. So sizing, titanium, everything about this, I absolutely love until
we talk that magic number. That's where I prefer the white birch pricing on it. So you can see
there the titanium a little bit darker. But again, on my six and three quarter inch wrist,
I love this size. Love the fit. Really don't have too much negative to say about it. I think it's
great. Again, looking at the full review, you will see you got the updated clasp as well. So
overall, I think just a really nice package. Power reserve indicator there on the back of the
movement, which I think is great. Right to the right about the, if you're looking at this way,
the nine o'clock right there, you can see the power reserve. So this would be my pick. But again,
white birch is great. If you like a little bit of heft, you want that larger watch,
can't go wrong here. I will say the other thing that's noticeable, the 37, just the bracelet is
thinner as you would expect. I put this on right away and not a lot of taper between the lug width
and the clasp on the white birch. And again, I'm not sure I have a ring light here I've been
playing with, not giving me all the light that I really want. Just felt really dark there. So
see if that helps brighten things up a little bit. Case back on it. You know what? I have a
sticker here that's half folded. Let's take that off and look at those two movements side by side.
Give you an idea. Let's do one at a time. I don't know how you are. I do pay attention to movements,
but I'm looking at what I may want. And I do like having an exhibition case back.
While you can't see it, it is fun for me taking on and off to at least take a look at
it's not always 100% required for me personally, but I do enjoy it. And oftentimes we'll select
options or a model with an exhibition case back. So that's enough rambling for me today.
Let me know what you think. 005 or 003, which Grand Seiko do you prefer? And again,
don't love the lighting. Let me take this off and come directly over top.
As always greatly appreciate you viewing. If there's anything we can do for you,
anything at all, contact information in the description. We'll see you in the next video.
