I'm so glad that I'm sitting 30 feet of watching your life and your future change forever.
This, to me, was a brilliant audition.
Thank you so much, Simon.
Hi, I'm Oscar Stembridge, and welcome to my hometown.
I live close to a city called Malmo.
It really is just a village, a very small one.
So you might be wondering, what's the main sightseeing?
It's this window, and that's it.
Quite nice.
Goose Crossing. Look at that.
ADT has been my dream ever since I was a little kid, and I'm on my way now.
ADT, here I come.
We're in LA.
I write about issues that I think need to be talked about more.
It's really important to me.
That stage over there, I don't know if you can see, but I'm performing on that stage.
This is going to be so cool.
Thank you. So proud of you.
I've always wanted to perform at venues like Madison Square Garden.
I really want to be able to do music my whole life.
I think that's really the big dream.
You're cute.
Oh, thank you.
Tell us your name.
My name is Oskar Stenbridge.
Oskar, how old are you?
I'm 16 years old.
Do I hear an accent?
Yes, I'm half Swedish and half English.
I live in southern Sweden.
Oh, nice.
Why are you doing a delayed clapping over here?
Because he's half English.
I'm half of you, mate, so that's good.
Thank you, mate.
Since when have you been into music?
I've been playing instruments since I was like six years old.
My parents have played a lot of music when I was growing up.
Did they come with you?
Yeah, they're somewhere in this massive theatre.
You will be playing for us?
Yes, we'll be playing an original song for you.
When I wrote this song, I was feeling quite overwhelmed with everything that's going on in the world.
And I think a lot of people from my generation feel the same.
We're really worried about our future.
So I just wanted to write a song which is about, you know, all these negative things that are going on in the world.
And turning it into positive things instead that, you know, make the world a better place.
Good for you.
What if the time just stopped?
And we could stay right here
What if we smiled at funerals?
Cause death ain't what we fear
If I'm a fool for dreaming
Then what is left for me?
If I'm a fool for dreaming
Then what is left for me?
What if this was the end?
Tell me, what would you change?
If I had all the answers
Then would I still be the same?
What if we could heal our hearts?
Without the words untold
What if nobody felt lonely?
And had someone to hold?
If I'm a fool for dreaming
Then what is left for me?
Now what is left for me?
These walls are the stories that I can't explain
What did you think?
The fact that you're singing your original song and the beauty of the words and why you're writing this song
I'm so glad that I'm sitting 30 feet of watching your life and your future change forever
Wiser than just being 16 years old, you know
But it gets screechy when it goes up there
And I know about screechy with my voice
No, it's like yummier when it's a little lower down here, I guess
But it was beautiful
I know that in the morning now
I love the song, I love you
I think you have so much to give to the music world
Keep doing what you're doing
Beautiful
I really loved that first part of the song
With that lyric, your voice, everything about this audition was you
And I just thought it was so interesting
This, to me, was a brilliant audition
Thank you so much, Simon
Alright, let's vote
You have a very special and very unique voice
But the level of talent this year is just mind-blowing
But I want to see what else you have up your sleeve
I say yes, I want to see you again
The music is fading
The bombs are blazing
We keep on smiling through the days
Of barely surviving
But sing me a song
I'll sing it with you
As long as I'm here
I'll sing it with you
Cause I'm just a boy
Who wants to worry about his next heartache
I'm just a kid who wants to be okay
My whitewood is a broken place
But it's getting hard
Trying to picture a tomorrow
As a beautiful tomorrow
I imagine yesterday
Sing me a song
I'll sing it with you
As long as I'm here
I'll sing it with you
There's hoping, fighting
I know there's a glimpse of light
Even in the cold, darkest nights
Little bird, sing me a song
I'll sing it with you
You need to be always on a stage
You're amazing, you're so handsome
I think you're a great singer
And you already have it all
Thank you so much
So here's what I think Oscar
I think you are a star
And I think you have the looks
And the chops
Just the talent to do it
If I want to be totally honest
I think you picked the wrong song
I do
You said it was between two
It's a tough competition
Only three are going through
I don't think that's going to be memorable
Heidi, what do you think?
I think you definitely sing with your heart
There's a kind of gentleness
Across to your voice
I do wish sometimes
That this voice would unleash a little bit more
It's kind of a little bit here
And sometimes I wish you would just go for it
A little bit more
So you could show us a little bit more range
Simon
Oscar, you're 16 years old, right?
In my opinion
You're like a little diamond
Right?
Whether you chose the right or wrong song today
Doesn't matter
Because I think you have a real opportunity
In this business
To do really, really, really well
I really mean that
I really would
Because you just don't find many people like Oscar
I mean, you've got something really cool about you
You know who you are
And I've just got a really great feeling about you
