Welcome into the video I am your tech guy Wayne and today I want to walk you through how to use
the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra for beginners. This will be a full beginner's walkthrough.
I'm going to take you through how to pair it with your phone. We'll do a walkthrough of all
the settings so you know how to navigate the watch, how to do all the basic things. We'll go
over how to change the watch faces, how to program the action button on the side, and also how to
start your workouts as well. So make sure you watch all the way to the end so you don't miss
any important information. If you get value out of this video stop and bump that like button down
below. Definitely appreciate that. Let's go ahead and get into it. So once you get it out of the
box the first thing you'll want to do is find your charger and you'll want to place this right
underneath the watch and basically it's going to turn it on and then it will put it into a pairing
mode so it'll begin to look for any devices that are around it to pair to. Alright so you'll want
to do that and the watch is on and it's in pairing mode. Now one of two things will happen.
You might see a pop-up on your screen that'll say, oh your phone has found a Samsung Galaxy watch
would you like to pair to it? And when you see that pop-up you can just tap the button that
says pair or connect and that will start the process. If you don't get that pop-up no problem
you'll want to download what is called the Galaxy wearable app. Now if you have a Samsung phone
this app is probably already installed on the phone so you can just go to your app drawer and
look for it and open it. If you don't have it no problem you'll simply want to go to the app drawer
you'll want to look for this app the play store app and you'll want to basically go and do a
search for the Galaxy wearable app. Okay so we're in the app now and it's going to begin searching
for new devices and I'm going to go ahead and tap the power button in the upper right corner to make
sure that the watch is on and that it's ready to pair. You want to make sure that your wi-fi and
your bluetooth are both turned on because the phone is going to use that to pair with the watch.
Okay at the bottom here under available devices you'll see Galaxy Ultra and it's the same number
Galaxy Ultra 7YET. So I'm going to tap right here and this will begin the process of them
pairing together. Here it is. Hit confirm. You're going to need to accept the terms and conditions
you only actually have to check the box of the ones that don't say optional. If it says optional
I normally skip it. Hit continue. So now it's getting ready to connect. Now while this is
pairing I want to show you a really cool accessory that I use for my watch Ultra. I use it on my
nightstand. It's by a company called MagBack and it's a 3-in-1 charger that works well with the
Ultra. It also has a wireless charging spot for your phone so if you have a phone that supports
wireless charging you can basically dock it right on this charger here and it can lay in the portrait
or landscape position and you can also charge a pair of headphones in the back. So really cool
accessory. I use this with my watch Ultra and it's really great to just charge all my devices at
night and it's a very sleek and slim design. So I'll link this below in the description in case
you guys want to check it out. Again really fun accessory and just works great with this watch.
Alright so we're all done now. It's finished the first connection step. Next it does need to link
with a Google account. So it's going to show us some accounts here. It's trying to pull
this account which I actually don't want to link to this one so I'm going to hit choose another.
Select. I'm going to use my fingerprint to verify it and now it's going to begin to link the watch
with this Google account. If you don't have a Google account you will have an option to be
able to set up one first to then be able to link the watch with your phone. Okay we need to accept
terms and conditions. I normally will uncheck these options here. Okay I agree. Alright now
it's showing us about Gemini which is your built-in AI assistant on your watch and it's
going to show you that you can basically press and hold on the home button in the upper right corner
and that's how you would launch Gemini and you can also set it up to use your voice
to trigger Gemini without holding the button. We're going to hit next here. I don't tend to
turn on the feature where you can just say the command. I like to prompt it myself just so that
it's not always listening. Here it's going to recommend some additional apps to download based
on what's on your phone and there's some other cool apps here. These are a lot of like running apps,
golf apps, fitness apps, so you can check the box of any one of these apps you would like to be
installed on your watch. I'm going to hit continue. Next we're setting up the automatic backup so
whenever you download watch faces or you make changes to your watch it will back it up to your
Samsung account and that way if you ever lose your watch it's easy for you to restore those settings
onto a new watch. We're not going to give smart switch permission to access the watch so it can
back up all your data. Now here you can see I have backups from previous watches that I've used
so I could select one of these and I can load all the watch faces in the settings
from those old watches onto my Ultra. I'm going to set this up as a new watch but for you if you
lost it and got a new one then that would be the way to restore it back to any settings you
previously had on it. Here we go and we're almost done with the setup here it's just showing you
some of the different features. The running coach is a super cool feature if you're looking to build
your stamina and to run more there is a setting that will help you do that. Here we go. Now
if you would like to set it up with a mobile plan you can and the benefit of that is if you ever get
separated from your phone you just have your watch your watch can connect to mobile data towers
your watch would get its own phone number and you can make calls and receive text messages
right from the watch even if you're not by your phone. Now if you're someone who runs or hikes
I would say this is a great feature to pay for however if that's not something that you do
there may not be a lot of cases where you'll need to have a separate data plan on your watch
so you may want to skip that. I'm going to go ahead and skip it for now and now it's going to
finalize the final step of the pairing and then we're going to be done. Then we can move on to
seeing the interface and learning the different things you can do with the watch. All right and
it's official our watch is fully set up and it's paired with our phone now we can move on to the
next step which is navigating the menus and just learning how to use the watch in general. Okay so
now that we finished our pairing now we can get into the tour of the watch. I wanted to start with
just the buttons so on the right side we have our home button we have our back button and we have
our active button. Now we can program this active button to launch different commands on the watch
and I'll go over that a little bit later. The home button just takes you back to this screen
which is the home screen it also will help you with waking up the watch as well so for example
when you turn your wrist the watch is going to go to sleep and by turning the wrist up this is
usually what will wake it up but there is a setting where you can turn it off so it doesn't
wake up every time you flick your wrist and in which case you'll have to press the home button
to wake up the watch. Okay now let's talk about this home screen here and some of the different
gestures you'll need to know about. So first of all swiping down from the top of the screen will
bring up your quick settings menu and this is basically going to have shortcuts to the most
frequently used settings on the watch. So I'm going to go over each one very briefly in the
upper left corner we have our different settings so for example if you want to switch to the sleep
mode which is you know basically shuts the watch down from having so much activity at night you
can go here if you're in a movie theater you can go to theater mode and that's going to basically
also dim down the screen so that your watch is not so bright when you're in the movies. Now next we
have our power button if you want to turn off the watch we have our shortcut to the settings menu
here we have our power saving button here we have our always on display now this is when this is
turned on when your screen goes to sleep you'll still be able to see your watch face on the watch
okay now the only issue with that is that when it's on it is going to drain some battery so you
have to be mindful of that. Now right now notice we don't see a display on the watch right now
because the watch is asleep but the sensor is detecting that I'm not wearing it so it's not
going to show anything on the screen however if I take the watch and I actually put it on my wrist
watch this it's going to go to sleep but this time you'll be able to see a watch face on the watch
when it goes to sleep. See that this is the always on clock which will show when the screen basically
is in sleep mode so it's pretty cool but the only issue is that this does drain more batteries you
want to be mindful of that. Now as soon as I turn my wrist the watch is going to wake up and I'll
get to see the full display so if you want to turn that off you'll swipe down from the top of the
screen and just tap this and this will turn off the always on display. Now so far if you're getting
value out of this video please stop and pump that like button down below definitely appreciate that
and it will help the video to reach more people. In the bottom right here we have our sound setting
now this is the icon for muted this means the sound is on so if you get a text message or an
email or notification the watch will make a noise and this is the vibrate mode so this will put the
watch on vibrate so notifications come through it will only vibrate. Notice as well at the very top
you have the battery percentage this will show you exactly how much battery is left
and right below it you should see the bluetooth icon and that's basically what is telling you that
the watch is paired or connected with your phone if you don't see the bluetooth icon it means it's
not connected to your phone. All right if we swipe over we have another menu we have a flashlight
mode which will actually cause the screen to light up like a flashlight if you ever can't
find your phone you can use this as a flashlight to be able to find your phone so that's super
helpful and we also have our brightness adjuster if you want the watch to be a little bit brighter
it's set out of the box to be automatic so it will adjust depending on the environment that
you're in but if you want it to be brighter you can manually change it by tapping on that little
sun and then increasing the brightness or decreasing the brightness and then we just
hit our back button and it'll take us back to that menu option but notice the screen is much brighter
now next we have our wi-fi switch now the point of this is that if you connect to wi-fi you can
still get notifications even if your phone is not within bluetooth range this could be super helpful
for example you live in a large house and your phone is all the way across the house as long as
it's on wi-fi you'll still get notifications from your phone we have do not disturb here here we
have what is called the water lock so if you're ever going to go in the shower with your watch on
or go for a swim or in an environment where you're going to get wet you'll want to turn this on and
what it does is it will disable the home screen so that the water will not cause the screen to keep
reading touches because when the screen gets touched then the screen will react and then it
will turn on it thinks that you're trying to navigate the screen so you just want to turn on
the water lock let me just show you what it looks like you'll see this little blue bubble in the
upper right corner and right now my touchscreen is totally disabled okay if i want to turn it off
i'm going to long press on the home button for two seconds just like this it'll make this noise
which will help to eject water and then you're good to go all right so that's how you lock the
screen i use this a lot because i have a little baby and she loves to play with the watch so i'll
just disable the screen so she doesn't mess up any of the settings i'm going to turn this brightness
okay now this is the last page airplane mode gps if you want to pair directly to a set of
bluetooth headphones you can do that by tapping this icon here this is your nfc icon and this one
super important button here this is the find my phone feature and if you ever lose your phone
but you're within bluetooth range you can use your watch to ping your phone so it will automatically
show you where your phone is all right so that's the quick settings menu and definitely it's good
to know about all the options in there because i guarantee you will be using them now if i swipe up
this will take us to what is called the app drawer and here i can swipe through and see all the apps
that are currently pre-installed on the phone and if you want to download new apps you can do that
you going to the play store icon and here you can basically find other apps that are available for
the watch there's quite a bit at the top here this is the recent apps button and it will show
you any apps that are currently working in the background of the phone so you just want to be
mindful and hopefully not have too many things open at one time if i swipe to the right this
will show me notifications and i can see if i have a calendar appointment i can see if i have any
workout data it'll also show me if i get a text message if i get an email whatever you set up for
the watch it's going to show up as a notification in that in that menu you want to be careful you
don't want to have too many notifications coming through because it can be a little irritating so
i normally just set it for text messages and for emails now if i swipe to the left this will take
us to what are called the tiles this is just different pieces of information so this is my
health tile i can see i've done 3581 steps for the day my active minutes is 39 and my calories burnt
is 177 so as you scroll through there's a bunch of options sleep data energy score keep swiping
over this is how you can quickly launch a workout this is your workout exercise shortcut menu so if
you're going to go for a walk run or treadmill it'll automatically trigger by just tapping one
of these or you can tap on more and then this will give you the full list of all the different
workout options that are available select the appropriate one then you can start
if you go all the way to the right it'll take you to the running coach and this is actually a new
setting to the watch ultra that will help you optimize your running by putting in your goals
and then it will recommend a running plan to help you build your endurance and your stamina and
different things like that all right as we keep swiping through there's a few more pages you can
get your data when it comes to the weather you can see your calendar you can see your other devices
that are paired so my phone right now is at 20 i need to go ahead and charge that thing
and i can have my buds paired in here as well so these are only just a couple that are in here if
you want to add more whenever you see the plus if you tap on the plus it will take you to the full
menu and you can basically scroll through here to see all the different tiles that are available
that are just different points of data that you'll be able to look at just by swiping to the
left on your watch so that is our quick tour of just navigating the home screen on the watch ultra
next i want to go into how do you customize it how do you change the watch face okay next i want
to show you how to change the watch band on your watch ultra okay if we flip it over you'll see
this is one piece and this is another piece here and you'll see a button there's a button on the
watch right here take your fingernail and the easiest way to do this is with your thumb and
press your thumb into the button and this will dislodge the band and then when it's time to put
it back on you'll want to basically kind of kind of jingle it left and right until it snaps into
place it's the same thing for the other side you'll see the button right there use your thumb
to press in and it'll just dislodge just like that and then put it right back into position
and just kind of wiggle left and right until it locks back into place i'll leave a link in the
description of some great watch bands that i like for this watch as well there's so many cool ones
that are available by the way there are two different ways to change the watch faces on your
watch now one is from the phone using the wearable app and the other way is through the watch face
directly let's start with how to change the watch face right from the watch long press on the home
screen for one second it'll bring up this menu now you can swipe to the left and tap the plus
and this will bring you to your watch menu where you can scroll through and see all the
watches that are pre-loaded already on the watch the watch faces so we just scroll through here
and as you see when you like we'll stop and then we can select it let's keep going let's keep going
this is one of my favorite watch faces right here so we've selected it if i just tap on the watch
face boom this becomes the new watch face now what if you want to customize it well long press
on the watch face and tap on customize now this is showing you that you can swipe left and right
and up and down to basically make different customization so first if i just swipe around
the bezel like this i can change the color combination or the color pattern and this is
one of my favorites right here next i can swipe left and go to the compilation which is what data
is going to be shown on the right here and i can tap and here i can go through and set a specific
piece of data i would like to see when i look at my watch maybe it's your heart rate
well now that i've set that it's going to show me the time 433 but right above it it will show my
heart rate now if i long press again excuse me long press on the watch i can change that data
by going to customize swipe left to go to compilation tap on it and let's make that
something else maybe we want it to be our step count cool hit the home button and now it's showing
our step count right above the minutes if you tap where it says the step count it'll take you right
to that app and give you more data so i can actually scroll through and see more information
about how my steps are going so that is a very brief run through of how to change the watch face
now if you do it from the phone we're going to go back to the wearable app you have a lot more
options of things that you can do there are only so many watch faces that are loaded on the watch
when you first set it up however if you go into the app and you go to watch faces this will give
you a much larger library of options so there's so many watch faces i can pick from by just scrolling
through here and you can also scroll left to see more let's say you like this one right here simply
tap on it and tap allow and install it'll take a few seconds for it to download and then we'll add
it to the watch now it's still loading we can see the little bubble going around so i can keep
scrolling down this list when it's finished it's going to show up at the top this is where i'll see
all the watch faces that i have selected to be added to the watch okay i'm going to swipe up
keep swiping up here and that's our bottom now let's go back to that watch face that we just
installed it looks like it did not add to the top i thought i was pretty sure that that's how it works
but i guess it doesn't so here it is right here i'm going to tap on it again and guess what tapping
it a second time added it up here to my favorites and has now changed the watch face on the main
watch which is great and as i long press i can then begin to make different customizations
every watch has a different set of customizations available that's why you have to go into each one
and see okay what colors are available what options are available what actually can i change
and then you go in and make the changes so now one other cool thing i want to show you when it
comes to actually i'm going to show you two two more cool things so one is that if you swipe up
and you go to this section which is photos you can actually select your own picture to be the
wallpaper of the watch maybe you have a really cute picture of your dog or a really cute picture
of you and your family and you want that to be your watch face you would first need to go to
photos and select the photos watch face now if you do that you can then link it with your phone
and then you can access your gallery to be able to change the photo that will show up let me show
you how it works i'm going to tap it again now that it is downloaded it's going to change the
watch face i'm going to long press on the watch face go to customize and i need to allow the watch
to access the photos on my device so i'm going to tap allow and then tap on the button right there
go to pictures tap add on phone then i have to give it permission hit allow all
and then hit the back button now i'm going to come to the top and for the watch face you'll
see a little blue pin if you tap on the blue pin this takes you to the watch face and here you can
first select how you want the time to show up on it so i can change it and there's all these cool
configurations of how the time will show that was pretty cool next i'm going to go to background
photos or pictures excuse me and then plus go to gallery and here i can select a wallpaper i want
to use i'm going to pick this one from a recent camping trip hit done here i can adjust the
brightness and make all kind of other adjustments i'm going to just keep it the way it is give it
a few seconds and now this let's hit save and now if we go to the home button this is our new
background and watch face so that's a much more advanced way to change the watch face
to specifically customize it to what you want to see all right and there's two other photo options
if you pick one of these two you can then put your picture on that style i'm going to switch back to
this one because i kind of like this one this one's pretty cool the last thing i want to show
you is how to download new watch faces because there are maybe 50 to 100 you'll see in this
section but if you scroll over to the bottom there's an option that says more watch faces
on google play we're going to tap there and here you can download watch faces from the google play
store some are free some are paid so you just want to pay attention because not all of them are free
all right next i want to show you how to program the button here so it can launch a specific action
for you now right now if i press the button it is pre-selected to open your exercises which is
a great shortcut and you may not want to change that you tap that button it takes you into here
you pick the workout that you want to start and you tap on the workout it'll give you some details
to select if you're running on a track obviously it's saying what lane are you in you know that's
why it says that press okay and then it's showing you that you can press the button to pause the
workout as well which is great and let's see let's just pick walking here there we go press okay
asking if you want to give it permission to be able to see your location if you're running around
your neighborhood it'll actually give you a map of the area that you ran which is pretty cool
and we'll press okay turn on location so it can actually track it properly
agree to the terms you'll see a three two one and then your workout will start and you'll see this
on the screen now this is showing you that if you swipe to the right you can actually pause your
workout or start a new one right like this or if you're all done and you want to stop the workout
you press the red x and you're done so if i'm on the workout i hit the home button i can get back
to it by just tapping at the bottom right here and now i'm back in my workout now as you scroll up
it will give you different pieces of information so calories average speed your heart rate which
is great and different workouts will have different pieces of data so you always want to swipe all the
way to the bottom because the walking doesn't give you some of the extra data but running and
and other workouts will all right now if you swipe to the left you can actually bring up
your media player so if you're listening to music you can actually change the track by going forward
backward you can control the volume by tapping on that volume key and then it takes you here
and if you swipe from the left to the middle it'll take you back and i can also pause right from here
so this is another cool thing you can control the media on your phone by just swiping so watch this
main screen of the workout app i'm going to swipe to the left and that brings up the media controls
swiping to the right brings up the menu to pause the workout or to stop the workout i'm done
working out i want to swipe to the right press the x and my workout is done let's get back to
how to change this button here we're going to swipe down from the top of the screen
tap on the settings wheel and we're going to go up to buttons and gestures
and then here is our action button so if i tap on action it's showing that by default it opens
up samsung health and my exercises i can scroll through here and i can have it launch something
totally different maybe you want this button to launch your flashlight so you can see when you're
walking around the middle of the night and the house is dark you can do that you can have it
launch your camera controller you can have it launch a voice memo or you can just say hey none
i don't want this button to do anything it's totally up to you so this is the menu you can
also go to settings right here and access a list of even more things you might say i want this to
launch a specific workout i don't want to have to pick the workout i only walk on the treadmill
we'll select treadmill and then when you press the button it'll automatically start
a workout on a treadmill so swipe through this list to see all the options that are available
and that's another way you can program that action button now you have some other gestures that are
built in if i long press on the home button in the upper right corner this will launch my Gemini
assistant which is right here and you can begin to ask it questions you can ask Gemini a question
to search data for you or you can ask it to do something on the watch for you the main question
i ask Gemini is set a timer for 70 minutes so i know when to go and check my laundry just like
this set a timer for 70 minutes there you go and my timer is set so you might use it for different
things you can ask it to send a text message make a phone call check a notification but that's
mainly what i use it for it's really funny this button down here when you're on the home screen
if you long press it it will launch your Samsung pay now the Samsung pay is basically you adding
a credit card to your watch and anywhere that has NFC you can basically pay with your watch
you'll press the arrow it'll walk you to the menu you'll have to use the watch and the phone
to set up your credit card so you can pay through your watch and after that it will have you set a
pin a four digit pin that you'll have to enter in order to trigger it to be able to pay with
your credit card so there is that i have a separate video on that i will link it on screen
right here i show how to do it on a different watch a different Samsung watch but the process
is the same so you can watch that video to learn how to do it i want to show you a few other things
before we end the video these are just some quick tips so swipe down from the top of the screen tap
on the settings wheel in the upper right corner go to display swipe up and this is a really important
menu option that a lot of people tend to need sometimes the raise wrist to wake feature turns
off what is that well watch this i'm going to turn it off i'm going to show you normally when you take
the watch and you turn it this way or you turn your wrist the watch goes to sleep and then you
turn it basically you turn it this way and the watch wakes up this is the raise wrist to wake
feature but when it turns off you'll keep turning your wrist and you'll look at your watch and it
won't show the time that simply means that you have this turned off in the settings so we'll
go back to settings display raise wrist to wake turn this back on and watch this when i turn the
wrist it goes to sleep turn it back it wakes up that's what it's supposed to do but sometimes
this setting gets turned off i noticed when my daughter would play with my watch she would turn
it off by accident and i i was literally so frustrated for weeks because i it turned off
and i didn't know that it was turned off and i was like how do i turn this darn feature back on
and boom there it was so now you know you should definitely bookmark that because i guarantee you
something's going to come up that's going to turn off and you're going to say how come my watch
doesn't turn on when i turn my wrist and that basically is why now go to settings buttons and
gestures swipe down and go to the gesture section these are a couple of different gestures you can
also turn on that are pretty cool the main one i use is the shake gesture and when this is turned
on whenever a notification comes through your watch this will basically dismiss it so if someone
is calling you and you don't want to answer it all you have to do is shake your wrist once or
twice and it will decline the call the same thing is true when your alarm goes off if your alarm
goes off if you shake your wrist and this is enabled it will basically turn off the alarm
so this is a very useful feature to have enabled now you also have what is called double pinch
it's basically when the watch is on your wrist when you tap your pointer finger and your thumb
twice like this it will interact with your commands this can be a cool feature the double
pinch it can also be frustrating because sometimes you have to pinch really hard in order for it to
to trigger one of the best ways to use this is if you have this turned on and you open the camera
controller let me show you where that is you're going to swipe up and this is the camera controller
when this is turned on and the pinch is enabled when you pinch you can actually take a picture
using the watch you can take a picture from your phone camera using the watch so it's a pretty cool
feature but sometimes you have to press it multiple times it doesn't always take on the first time so
you just want to be mindful of that and you want to practice to really get it down the last thing
is the knock knock feature which is same thing buttons and gestures all the way to the bottom
and knock knock when this is turned on you can have it launch a specific app or command
by doing a knock twice with your your fist like this so you turn it on you tap it tap where it
says knock knock and you can select what command you want to happen and you can you know have it
launch your flashlight or launch an app or whatever so this is another great one the only
thing to keep in mind is that when these are enabled it drains more battery so just keep in
mind you may have to charge your watch a little bit more all right guys this brings us to the
end of our video i hope you did find this helpful if it was bump that like button down below for me
and leave me a comment let me know if the video was helpful i'll also leave a link in the
description for that cool charging dock i showed you at the beginning of the video

minimalistic and it gets the job done so if you want to look into that i'll definitely have that
