you to our teacher Ms Cai designer Shiyang Lin and our teacher Lin Commissioner Na Lai Legislator Wen-Zhi Wang Legislator Jun-Jie Chiu and Executive Director Jing-Ya Wang Good morning everyone and hello to our media friends and fellow citizens Today's top priority is unboxing our special Lunar New Year gift prepared just for you this year especially significant because it's the Year of the Horse We also wish everyone happiness and success right away in the new year and that everything proceeds safely and smoothly Because this year's theme is superheroes and because last year in the Hualien Guangfu Township's Yanshe Lake incident we witnessed so many ordinary people stepping up as heroes So we came up with the concept centered around Ultraman who is turning 60 this year and as were in discussions with our Japanese partners They also thought the idea was great which means that no matter when Taiwanese people face difficulties a superhero will always come to their rescue Even when our neighboring countries face difficulties we in Taiwan have always been willing to step forward as members of the international community So I think the spirit of Superman is about standing up for justice without fear facing challenges bravely and being ready to step forward whenever needed So this year we've specially chosen Superman as our theme Superman is now celebrating his 60th anniversary meaning his appeal spans an incredibly wide range—from newborns to people in their sixties virtually everyone knows him So someone said they ran into a middle-aged man around fifty a few days ago who mentioned he’d never seen Ultraman before—he used to call him Salted Egg Man—and that he hadn’t followed it for a while so he didn’t know there were now so many different characters in the current Ultraman series But the underlying theme of his story is always about how in times of hardship a superhero emerges to stand up and help so I think choosing Superman this year carries a special significance I truly want to express my heartfelt thanks to Teacher Cai Siyang Lin and Teacher Lin for their incredible creativity which has brought forth so many wonderful ideas—whether for the spring reunion greeting cards or our little lanterns—and I’d like to convey my master’s gratitude on their behalf Now let’s begin introducing today’s assortment of little items I thought Mayor Mai would show up cosplaying today so I bought two salted eggs just in case—was I waiting for you Salted eggs might sell out soon given how much everyone’s looking forward to them Just now we hadn't even officially started Mr Sunny Egg but they were already so eager—do you accept this title Let's get moving let's move You have to clock in every day Please stay tuned for what's coming—may I also invite our Thai-based calligrapher to share with everyone the significance behind this year’s two specially crafted traditional Spring Festival couplets Good morning everyone—Mayor Commissioner Lai fellow council members directors from various city departments media colleagues present and fellow citizens—good morning and hello This year is particularly special because previously we only had one design but this year we've created two— one reflecting a more fluid and elegant style and the other conveying the dynamic energy of a galloping horse On this side it's more steady—introducing a horse with a calm temperament one that exhibits both calmness and a spirited nature Both sides here carry slightly different meanings—yes exactly Let’s look at this month’s couplets: "Month Horse Welcomes Fortune" and "Junteng Welcomes Enjoyment " "Month Horse" symbolizes vigorous dynamic energy overcoming challenges while "Welcomes Fortune" represents the hope and anticipation of happiness health and a fulfilling life Conveying the city government's commitment to advancing prosperity for its citizens this festive atmosphere reflects a shared journey forward The mayor's banner reads "Jùnténg Yíngxiǎng"—"Jùnténg" meaning galloping steeds symbolizing dynamic momentum to break barriers and elevate the city while "Yíngxiǎng" signifies welcoming good fortune and smooth progress incorporating the beloved local mascot Gaogao Xiong Below us is the energy so we echo the city government team and the citizens in embracing the vibrant spirit of welcoming the new year Finally I wish everyone here great fortune in the Year of the Horse and a joyful Lunar New Year in Kaohsiung Thank you This year we're using two instead of one as we used to have just one before we wanted to introduce a small change so now there are two options to choose from—pick whichever you prefer Personally I suit the Jun Teng Ying Xiang better since "Jun" refers to a spirited horse while Comrade Lai Ruilong would better suited to the Yue Ma Ying Fu Huang Wenzhi is suitable Qiu Junxuan is also suitable—they both have a more prosperous appearance so it's up to your personal preference just choose the one you like By then everyone should try to collect both sets of spring couplets Everyone will pick this one I knew I’d have to set up another setup They’ll all go for this one—the handsome one I wouldn't dare try laying it down again thank you Just kidding though this looks really nice Yes both styles are beautiful Yes the distribution location will be shared with everyone later—thank you to Teacher Cai for the explanation Thank you Teacher Tsai Diancheng thank you teacher Please also invite our designer Lin to share with everyone the design concept behind this year's greeting card—how beautiful it is isn't it Sorry actually at first I wanted to say putting a yuanbao on the horse's back so it would mean "money on horseback " symbolizing instant wealth But later I realized Kaohsiung's development should go beyond this—it should bring about even more exciting possibilities worth looking forward to The horse symbolizes innocence and joy while the peony above represents wealth prosperity and a fulfilling happy life All the good things will happen in this greatest city so I've placed all the imagery of Kaohsiung onto this wooden horse May the new year bring you the fulfillment of your heartfelt dreams The image of the carousel above symbolizes Kaohsiung's diverse development reflecting the city's residents' hopes and aspirations for the coming year Moreover I noticed he incorporated many well-known landmarks of Kaohsiung such as the Kaohsiung Music Center Da-Gang Bridge and the 85 Sky Tower Thank you our designer Lin for your wonderful work So in fact it's not just the citizens of Kaohsiung who find this deeply meaningful—it holds significant commemorative value for everyone As for the brief sharing just now everyone can already see it—yes we still have one more thing It'll be ready right away right away right away — another one of those double wedding girls Stick this on the legislator right away hurry up Cultural Safety Construction will be done right away quick right away A lucky and prosperous fashion piece I recently came across—let me share it with everyone today as part of our Spring Festival couplets in the community room No no no—yes yes Anyone who receives it can surely feel it That one on the left is Kaohsiung Bear but who's this one on the left Horse Bear He'll appear during the Year of the Horse—he's a horse It'll be great right away isn't it Wishing you prosperity and good fortune in the New Year Kaohsiung Bear Kaohsiung Bear—there's a pun here since "Kaohsiung Bear" sounds like "good luck bear " Horse bear horse bear good luck Yes so everyone can see that our designers have put in a lot of thought Welcome our committee member Larry Long Now let's pause briefly so everyone can see our springtime essentials more clearly This one here Could we also invite our legislator Mr Lai Ruei-lung to come up and say a few words Oh it's stuck please don't be so playful Wait a second it's stuck—pull it off We'll bring you a larger one shortly—please return to your seat first Commissioner Lai Ruei-lung is requesting your presence Thank you so much Mayor Chen Chi-mai the first-place winner for consistently bringing us wonderful surprises every year Thank you indeed it was truly spectacular—Kaohsiung never fails to surprise us each and every year I'm really happy to be back at my old workplace today whether it's the from our Tourism Bureau to join us and share some insights about this year's lantern display Thank you lovely host This year's official licensed little lantern is also authentic so we've chosen the original Ultraman Hello everyone for our 2026 Kaohsiung Winter Carnival this year we've chosen Ultraman as our featured IP As for this design we're extremely grateful to designer Leng Litin for helping us create Ultraman with such a cute large-headed small-bodied look The head is roughly 1.5 times larger while the body is smaller giving it a cuter more endearing appearance What's most important is that this little lantern has limbs that can all rotate This way during play we can position it in standing sitting or even flying poses We also hope everyone enjoys our Ultraman the most
