How do I get you alone? Hi, I'm Brad. Hi, I'm John. Well, we haven't done anything from Vivienne and Michelle for some time. Yeah, it's been a while. Because, I mean, she took a large break from putting stuff onto the internet. But she's been back for about six months. And I think we've done one of them. But this one popped out at me because it's, you know, one of my favourite heart songs. So, I say that. And we've also got a whole number of other covers of this song on the channel. So it's kind of like I might actually make a playlist for Alone. Which isn't even a heart song. So Alone was composed by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. Who recorded it under the name i10 on their 1983 album. Heart released a cover of the song as the first single from their ninth studio album Bad Animals on the 16th of May 1987. I did not realise that this song was a cover. They're not even the first ones to cover it too. They're actually the second big group to cover it. I can't remember the name of the first group that covered it. I think that was in like 1985 or something like that. But yeah, Heart is basically the second cover version of this song. Big one. You never know which one's going to take off. Yeah. So yeah, Heart basically did it as a power ballad. You know, with a bit of piano vibe and subdued vocal. You know, then some synth-led hard rock choruses. So, at which point the subdued vocal basically gets binned. And Wilson pretty much belts it. Alright, well you should see how she does it with the cover. So before we get going, make sure you hit that like and subscribe. Okay, it gets pulled up. There we go. Right. A little alarm. And it's only in two parts. Okay. Because she didn't drag it out, do the long version or anything like that. She did the kind of original, what do you want to call it? Radio edited, I guess. You don't know how long I've wanted To touch your lips and hold you tight I haven't noticed before in her other songs, she actually has a bit of a rasp in her voice. Yeah, that's what I was going to say. I like the raspiness of it. Yeah. I mean, you're going to get people who are going to say it's horrible. I mean, the original is pretty good. It's kind of like, unless something really special comes along, 99.99% of the time, the original is going to be better than any cover. Right. Occasionally, Disturbed comes along, covers your song, in which case you're screwed. But then saying that, there are still people who prefer the Simon & Garfunkel version. Yeah, there are. There are still people who prefer the original Simon & Garfunkel version because you've got the sound of silence, you've got sounds of silence, and then you have Disturbed. Yeah. Well, I like how she's doing it. Mm-hmm. I really like that. You know, I mean, like I said, we've done several, and I mean, I think everyone's different and everyone's good. Yeah. I mean, now it's gonna probably be better than the second original. Yeah. The original. No, third original. Oh, third, yeah. Third original. Right. Hart's original. Yeah. And again, saying that, I've never heard the other official cover version, the one in between, and never heard the original version. Right. It just might not have been done. Different tastes on it. It just might not have gone viral. That's true. I mean, even as far back in the 80s, you know, 400 years ago now, Even though it was only 20 years ago. I know. But people keep thinking it's 400 or whatever. I know. Yeah. It's new math. Yeah. That's what it is. Yeah. It all depended on. Yes. There we go. Yeah. It all depended. In a way, it depended a lot on what the music execs and the radio stations, the owners of the radio stations like. Yeah. Because there's been quite a few songs where it's kind of like it simply didn't go anywhere because, you know, the owners of the radio stations were kind of like, don't like them. Yeah. Don't like them. Kind of like. Oh, we like them. Yeah. It's kind of like YouTube. You know, it's like, it depends on how they throw your video out. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. I'm trying to think who would do an interesting cover of this song. Other than Disturbed, because actually, that would probably be an interesting one. But no, I mean, to do. Oh, I guess if Eric Grummel did it, that would be an interesting cover. Because he. I thought he did. Maybe he did. No, I know. Dimas Sinopati did one. And then at. Dan Vaz do one. I think Dan Vaz might have done one. Don't know if we've covered it on this channel, but I think he might've done one. But there has been quite a few of them. Yeah. If Eric did one, he probably didn't leave it alone. So. Right. That would probably be really good. Because it's so different. Right. He'd do it like a dark version or something like that. But yeah, it's kind of like, yeah, unless you start getting into those ones, which, like I said, it's kind of what Disturbed does. Right. You, it's kind of like, well, the original is better. It's kind of like, well, this one's, this one isn't exactly better, but it's as good as, because it's so wildly different, you know, completely different style and all that kind of stuff. Yeah. Which is really what it is with Disturbed. And Sound of Silence, because it's kind of like, they're both really as good as each other. It's just, this one is wildly different from this one. Right. Yeah. Well, I liked it. I thought it was good, and we hadn't reacted to it in a while, and we're probably going to try to get her up some more.
