Paris. This is where some of the finest jewelry in the world comes from.
This historical district of traditional Parisian ateliers have inspired the great
maisons such as Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier. I've always been inspired by Parisian jewelers
and their techniques. They have a passion for making things that are unique, one of a kind.
Opening up a new atelier gives me the opportunity to bring a lot of the great masters all under
one roof. The first workshop started in 1910 and from there the company Montefiore's formed in 1920.
My hope is that we could show our clients how things are taken down to the ground,
the treasures of earth, and how we faceted the stones, how it becomes the masterpiece.
Here's a young apprentice coming in and learning the art of inspection.
And Jean-Pierre is a master here, 40 years. He's just finishing this black spinel and rose.
And this one, she has a degree in the master restoration.
This is a part of the activity of the company for many, many, many years.
So we do the modern jewelry but we want to continue also the restoration.
Restoration gives us the ability to understand how things are made in the past
and to make a finer piece of jewelry that ever could be made.
We do each element separate until we do the assembly in order the shape on the neck will
be perfect on any place. By taking these stones and balancing them in harmony, it flows just like
nature would. That's a true specimen. That's how it naturally grew. And those are growth lines.
This is the 100 carat that was in the museum. Perfect Morganite. So it's a balance between the
orange and the pink. And so instead of putting diamonds all around it,
I put it just with the light blue sapphire to complement the color.
