A new OMEGA. This time it's the brand new all-ceramic Seamaster Diver 300. It's quite large and looks pretty cool (provided you don't care about readability and just want a nice-looking ceramic watch).
Yesterday, Omega released their second new watch of 2026, a new Seamaster Diver 300 in
frosty white for the Winter Olympics, Milano Cortina, happening in two weeks' time.
I mean, the watch is okay, don't love it, don't hate it.
Let's start with what's different.
So this has a case diameter of 43.5mm, 14.3mm thickness, and a beefy 51.5mm lug-to-lug.
For materials, we have white ceramic and grade 5 titanium, with the case and bezel ring in ceramic,
white ceramic bezel insert, with laser-engraved texture that kind of looks like fresh snow,
and a white ceramic dial with a laser-engraved frosting that kind of looks like a finger
trace pattern on a frosted window, which is also inspired by the Milano Cortina emblem.
A detail I quite like is the seconds hand, with ombre blue effect.
And I don't like many other things here.
The case back is where we see the titanium come in, featuring a stamped Olympics emblem
and a grade 5 titanium buckle.
Powering this watch is the Co-Axial 8806, MEDA certified, and 55 hours of power reserve.
Aesthetically, I mean, don't hate it, don't love it, it's kind of cool.
Something different, if you don't care about reading the time that much?
It feels like a very literal interpretation of,
make a watch for the Winter Olympics.
I don't think it's horrible, but I would never pay for this.
Which kind of leads nicely to the three big problems I have with this, and Omega in general
right now.
Firstly, the price.
I feel like I'm the cheapest watch collector on YouTube, but Omega pricing is starting to hurt.
So, these retail for £8,800, or $10,500 USD.
It puts me in a tricky spot because I think there's a lot here that commands a premium
price tag.
Ceramic is a premium material.
It's been executed really well.
Titanium also commands a premium.
And the little bits of design they put in, like the laser engraved ceramic frosting.
But, on the other hand, I would never pay this much money for this watch.
I think this ultimately reveals I'm not the target demographic here,
but I can't imagine many people are.
I don't know how many people are out there who love the Olympics, have gigantic wrists,
have quite deep pockets, and want a white ceramic Omega.
Maybe they're out there.
I don't know.
It takes a very specific buyer.
I am also interested in why this is more affordable than the black variation.
Maybe this style is less cost intensive?
I don't know.
If you know, let me know in the comments down below.
Next problem, the size.
Omega is a funny one because, on the one hand, I feel like they're an enthusiast brand.
They do cool, innovative movement stuff, like implementing the coaxial escapement,
historic models.
But, on the other hand, they don't seem to listen to enthusiasts.
We've been crying out for smaller sizes.
Maybe re-releasing the midsize Seamaster.
But then they release upsized models.
The current catalog Seamaster Diver already feels pretty large at 42 millimeters.
And this is larger than that.
And something else to consider, bold case colors do affect wrist presence.
And you are going to feel a 51.5 millimeter lug-to-lug.
This is great for someone with an 8 inch wrist and larger.
Something to note, these measurements are exactly the same as the existing
ceramic black Seamaster.
My understanding of why these are so large is due to the sandwich case construction,
where the ceramic case center is combined with the titanium elements.
So there's a ceramic exterior.
The movement is housed within a titanium container,
which is needed to provide enough strength for the screw-down case back and crown threads,
as ceramic is brittle and unsuitable for holding these threads.
I don't know.
It's not for me.
But just because it's not for me doesn't mean it's not for a lot of people.
There are a lot of people out there who love larger watches.
And to be fair, this is the third watch release in line with the Winter Olympics.
The other two have been smaller models.
So there was a 37 millimeter Moonshine Gold Seamaster.
Amazing.
It's my favorite release.
It's my favorite thing they've unveiled in a long time.
And a speedy reduced 38 millimeters.
Design-wise, very in line with the new Diver 300.
Maybe I should stop being such a hater.
They have done smaller things in line with the Milano Cortina.
And my third and final problem is the general Swatch Group novelty strategy.
I actually think this is the overarching reason on why I'm such a hater.
This isn't just an Omega thing.
Swatch Group cannot help themselves from overdoing a winning formula.
They're like that guy who overdoes a joke that was funny,
and now it's not funny because you've been doing it too long.
If you overdo a good thing, it will become too sweet.
People will get sick of it.
This is what they did with the Moonswatch.
Even the Seamaster Diver 300.
In 2025, we were given so many Seamasters that didn't make sense.
They didn't add depth to the catalog.
They weren't even anything that anyone wanted or asked for.
With the Moonswatch particularly, it feels like they can't help themselves.
With Omega, it more feels like they're throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.
There doesn't seem to be a cohesive vision or roadmap to where this thing is going.
What is the goal?
What are we working towards?
It's like having all the ingredients to make this awesome sauce,
but none of the measurements and you taste it and something is off.
Does that make sense?
I've been making a lot of chili.
Anyways, I'm rambling.
Am I being too much of a hater?
What do you guys think of these?
Would you ever purchase something like this?
Would you put your money where your mouth is and buy something like this?

Does anyone watch the Olympics?
I never do.
I'll probably check in for the final games of the ice hockey,
especially if Canada's in for the gold.
Come on, Canada.
I got a knock on wood.
I can't jinx us.
Come on, guys.
Hot take.
I think I like the winter ones more than the summer ones.
That's a hot take I'm sticking to.

Elbows out.
Thank you so much for watching.
Thank you for your viewership.
And thank you to the Pope to your patrons.
