Race, speak!
Speak!
Good boy!
Race is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
I don't say that with exaggeration.
Just as a truth I came to understand over time.
Sometimes I look at him and wonder how I even lived before Race came into my life.
I don't have children.
And honestly I've never felt an emptiness because of that.
Because Race is my baby.
My husband often laughs and calls Race our emotional support animal.
And he's absolutely right.
In our home, Race is always the first to sense the mood.
The first to step in when someone is struggling.
The one who knows how to be there in a way that makes everything feel lighter.
Can I get kisses?
Kisses!
Okay, don't give me kisses!
We often joke that he must have been reincarnated.
Because there are moments when it truly feels like Race was human in a past life.
His eyes are so expressive that I catch myself believing he understands every word I say.
Not just reacting, but truly understanding.
I love you.
Thank you.
Before Race, I had never owned a dog.
My husband had.
And he was the first one to say something that changed everything for me.
He looked at Race and said,
I've never met a dog like this.
And it's true.
There is something very human about Race.
Not in his habits or behaviors, but in his presence.
As if he's not just a dog, but a personality.
He learns things incredibly fast.
He remembers tones, gestures, and daily routines.
Race knows when it's time to be playful,
and when it's better to simply lie beside you in silence.
Sometimes it feels like he's always one step ahead of us.
Race weighs about 115 pounds.
He's a big boy.
A massive head, a strong body,
and my favorite thing of all, the wrinkles on his forehead.
They form a different expression every time he moves.
Are you scared of that acting?
Being next to Race often makes you want to sit quietly.
Just to exist.
The only thing that isn't perfect about him is his nose.
It's slightly crooked, tilted just a little to the right.
And I always say that's what makes him real.
Because perfection doesn't exist.
And even if I could change something, I never would.
Race is perfect exactly the way he is.
When Race looks at you, it doesn't feel like he's just looking at you.
It feels like he's looking through you, sensing what's going on inside.
When I'm sad, I don't even have to call him.
He comes on his own, sits right in front of me, and just looks.
Sometimes he rests his head on my lap,
and everything heavy slowly fades away.
That was my latte.
That's my milk foam.
Sometimes people say nervously,
that's a Rottweiler, why would you get an aggressive dog?
And every time, I take a deep breath.
Because that label is unfair.
You can't judge a dog by its breed.
Every dog is different.
Yes, Rottweilers are guard dogs, but that doesn't mean they're aggressive.
It all depends on how they're raised, how they're loved, how they're treated.
Race needs a lot of attention.
A lot of warmth.
A lot of connection.
He's not the kind of dog you can leave in a corner and forget about.
And maybe that's why dogs like Race don't always get a chance.
But I'm not done.
You can have a little bit later, okay?
People see his size.
They see his strength.
But they don't see his heart.
And Race's heart is enormous.
He makes my life better in ways I can't fully put into words.
He fills our home with calm, warmth, and the feeling that you're never alone.
I wouldn't change a single thing about him.
Not the wrinkles.
Not the crooked nose.
Not his serious expression.
I love Race with my whole heart.
And if he's not in heaven, then I don't want to be there.
