Michael Chiavello, Pat Miletic with you live on AXS TV, your home for mixed martial arts.
From the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, our main event.
Prater predicted a first round TKO victory.
Ferreira said he'll take the back and choke out Prater.
Ferreira's coach said he's been working a lot on his striking.
See how it looks here early on.
Uppercut from Prater, overhand right from Ferreira and a high right round kick.
Overhand right from Ferreira, doubles up on it nicely, trying to clip Prater behind the ear.
High right round from Prater, aggressive start.
Prater gets the takedown, puts Ferreira on his back.
Nice setup with his hands coming off of that kick and then getting the takedown.
Ferreira working right away on that right arm of Prater.
Is Prater going to allow Ferreira up? Slings the legs a little.
Be careful not to leave one of those legs in.
Prater swings to the outside right thigh, goes to the inside leg.
Content to have Ferreira chase him around off of his back at the moment.
Do a bit of butt scooting here. Oh, axe kick.
Yeah, I don't know if I could have done that.
Doubles the danger, leaving the leg in. Ferreira snaps back to his feet and they clinch up.
Knee from Ferreira. Ferreira being smart here, putting him against the cage.
Ferreira hooks the right leg.
Scooped it up, got his single started.
Prater glancing towards his corner without barking instructions.
Elbow to the deltoids.
What does Prater do from here, Pat?
Well, I think he's fine right now. He doesn't feel like he's having too many problems.
As long as Ferreira doesn't lock his hands, he's okay.
Nice knee to the inside thigh from Ferreira.
Nice job spinning around there.
Prater takes the back standing here.
Ferreira, good job of hand control getting back into it.
Oh, beautiful spin.
Ferreira so quick takes the back of Prater. This is what he said he'd do.
He said he'd take the back and choke him out.
Will his prediction come true?
Prater tried that little foot sweep and missed and fell.
And right away Ferreira spun to his back. That was incredible speed.
We're halfway through the round.
Is Ferreira going to choke out Carlos Prater?
He is working hard on that choke.
He's got patience though, has Carlos Diego Ferreira.
He's locking it up tight.
Referee keeping a close eye on it.
And Prater's out of trouble momentarily.
Ferreira got to get wall walking here quick.
Prater locking up on that arm.
An early scare for Carlos Prater.
Here comes Ferreira again.
Looking for another submission, this time for the left arm.
Look at Prater getting that arm down to the ground to get it back out of there.
Now he's back in trouble.
Ferreira's going to try and reset the choke.
And soften him up with the elbows.
Here comes the choke attempt.
Frontier defending.
Still plenty of time to go in this round.
Prater looking to get that arm under.
Got to keep control of those hands.
You can see how Ferreira's trying to move him down.
The higher he climbs up, the harder it is for Ferreira to get the choke.
Prater being smart here, climbing up into him as high as he can.
See that?
Ferreira keeps pushing him down, trying to get him back down where he can work.
Ferreira just climbs on his back again.
Here we go now!
It's on the face.
Prater not in trouble.
Here comes the arm bar.
Switches from a choke to an arm bar attempt.
Maybe Ferreira throws those legs up.
That guy should have a prehensile tail.
Prater out of trouble.
Wants to work some ground and pound from inside the clothes guard of Ferreira.
It looks like Prater will see it to the end of the first round here.
Whoa.
Oh, will he?
Now switching off to the foot lock.
Ferreira!
And indeed Prater shakes his head and says,
you haven't got it locked on.
End of the first round, we go to the tags.
Let's go guys, round two.
Prater's got to get some effective strikes off here in the stand up.
I'm sure Prater's questioning his ability to go to the ground with this guy.
Got to look for the KO standing up.
Wow, solid right hand from Prater and Ferreira return the favor.
Looking nice with two shots there.
Inside leg kick.
High right round from Ferreira.
Throws up and cuts with wild abandon.
Outside leg kick from Ferreira.
Turned the shin in nicely.
I'm sure Prater did not expect Ferreira's striking to be this sharp back.
No, and quite frankly, neither did I.
Ferreira has definitely worked on it much better.
Counter right hand again from Ferreira.
He seems to have more snap behind it than does Prater.
Ferreira's striking is good enough to force Prater to lock up with him.
Elbow from Ferreira.
Turns Prater back against the cage.
Prater's corner calling for the knees.
And the corner of Ferreira saying outside knees and he does just that.
Curls around the left hand as Ferreira.
Ferreira working hard for that takedown, digging in.
Scoring with those knees to the inside thigh is Carlos Diogo Ferreira.
Prater got to get off the cage.
Got to start working.
Now Prater puts Ferreira against the cage.
Solis in the corner here of Carlo Prater.
Ronaldo naming his martial arts, former coach of Tito Ortiz of course.
Plenty of instructions coming for his charge of Prater.
Right leg kick there from Prater.
They're calling left jab, right kick.
High kick from Ferreira.
Who will throw the right hand here?
It's been effective for both men so far.
Prater got to get busy.
Uppercut, left hook from Prater.
Spinning heel kick there from Ferreira.
Here's a look at the corner of Ferreira.
Tony Orozco giving the instructions.
Tony Orozco, the coach of Derek Lewis.
Legacy heavyweight champion.
Takedown!
Nicely done from Ferreira.
He does not want to let Prater back up now.
Wants to go to work, get past that guard.
Chance go up for Ferreira.
See Prater got that inside tie on that arm.
Trying to keep that elbow from coming down again.
Ferreira always thinking.
Always on the lookout for the submissions.
Look at that.
Nice kick there from Ferreira.
Just trying to catch Prater as Prater snapped up to his feet.
A little side kick to the face.
Prater faking the right hand here.
He's got to throw it though.
Got to start throwing a whole lot more.
Turning back kick, looking for the liver.
Front kick from Ferreira.
High left round from Ferreira.
Fakes the right again, goes Prater.
Prater needs to do more of that and then follow up.
Get him to move his head and then throw where his head's going.
Too much faking and feinting here from Prater.
Not enough throwing and hitting.
Maygeri again from Ferreira.
Throws the right hand.
Uppercut from Ferreira.
Snap bang.
Rocked the head back of Prater.
Pulled down on the head and then let the head come back up
and then threw that hook.
Prater tries to return the favor.
Uppercut left hook combination.
Prater took that punch of beauty.
Shot to the old John Smalls.
Ferreira apologizes.
Prater's got time to recover here.
Both guys were kicking at the same time.
Purely accidental from Ferreira.
All right.
I'm going to start the time right now.
All right guys, time in.
Let's go.
A little cut over the left eye of Prater.
Nothing too serious.
As we go to the towels at the end of the second.
Main event between Carlo Prater and Carlos Teojo Ferreira.
Let's go.
The corner of Prater saying go high.
Tanker on the front foot.
Right hand lead.
They clinch up.
Ferreira puts him against the cage.
Throws him into the upper right rib cage.
Ferreira nice job moving his head.
Punches slid past.
Was able to close the gap.
Get in tight without getting hurt.
Prater blocking those hips out with that left hand.
Ferreira's trying to lock his hands.
There it is.
Nice tank down from Ferreira.
Came early inside of 47, 45 seconds.
Down on that leg.
Trapping that leg so he can't pull it out.
What's Ferreira looking for here Pat?
Well he keeps scooping the leg.
See how he's trying to heal.
Take that spur and dig it in on the legs.
Wrap up his legs.
He keeps trying to pull the post out from Prater's body.
Taking that arm away from him.
So he's pulling at it.
Trying to get it out from underneath him so he can't stand up.
Nice job going around his back to get to it too.
Three and a half minutes remaining in this main event.
We have seen some succulent ground game
so far from Ferreira.
Prater who has really needed to pull the trigger
a lot more with his strikes.
Yeah he's got to get creative now.
Prater looks onto that right leg.
Hands behind the back of the knee.
Now gives up on that knee from Ferreira.
Missed opportunity there.
Should have let go of the leg and just started throwing.
Pulls from Ferreira's corner to throw the knees.
He continues to work them.
The cut has opened up again
over the left eye of Carlo Prater.
Nothing that will faze him though.
The blood won't run down into the eye.
It will trickle down the side of the nose.
Prater's corner.
Begging him to get off the fence here.
So he pleads.
Politely requesting.
What does he need to do here?
Prater had to change it up
because things just aren't going his way in this fight.
He's got to move his feet.
To get off the cage you've got to move your feet.
Counter right hand from Ferreira
and we're back against the cage once more.
So Prater's got to expect those counters coming back.
Ferreira's been doing it the whole fight.
You've got to throw a punch and move your head
and make a miss and then throw again.
Counter punch to counter punch so to speak.
Ferreira's corner.
Call for the knees again and here is Scott.
Referee cautioning both men to work more
or he'll separate them.
Muay Thai clinch now from Prater.
Got to use it.
Ferreira crushing right through it.
Digging in.
Missed opportunity there perhaps
and Prater has the overhook
on that left arm of Ferreira.
Nice.
Keeping his hips super low.
Trying to look like Rue.
Under a minute remaining here
in this fight.
Will it be
Carlos Tijera Ferreira
who is grinding out a decision here
or can Prater pull something
out of somewhere Pat?
I doubt it.
Not from this position.
Time now is the enemy of Prater.
Under half a minute.
Prater trying to get up
but Ferreira's got that leg trap
using all parts of his body
against Prater.
I think that in many aspects
Prater is being surprised by Ferreira
particularly on the feet.
Prater thought he'd have the upper hand.
Final 10 seconds.
Ferreira brings it home
strong with the ground and ground.
Ferreira's obviously upset.
Very frustrated in this fight.

but your striking looked
so much better tonight
than it has in the past
against a guy who is a good striker
you look very sharp

I improved because
Cooper and Tony
my coach and my coach
from Team Ferreira
over there
helped me a lot
every day for training
I learned a lot
and I know I have more to learn.
This was a big night tonight
but you've got a big day tomorrow

are you ready to go for that?
I'm ready to go for that
