Hey YouTube family Check out where I am today
I'm at an elevation of about 850 meters and
there 's already snow around here It's been snowing
But anyway today I had to cross from this valley here to
that valley over there which we're heading to right now
o visit a deserted village well no one lives there—least of all
it's uninhabited but there are
indeed quite a few abandoned houses
And there's one particularly fascinating item I think some of you might even want to buy
I'm serious about that
So get ready because we're about to explore a very special place from Asturias
I want to tell you that today I'm also with my father Javier
what will accompany me now that I’ve had to leave the
caravan behind due to fixing the hot water which broke dow
And well you've taken the opportunity to bring me in your car
And nothing else we're just going to go check out this place—I've been eager to show it to him too
because he'd been asking me for ages to
go on an outing with him and today finally worked out
So I hope you like the place I'm taking you
today because it looks great and you'll see it's bound to catch your attention
I'm sure I'll enjoy it and have a great time
Well then I'll leave some social media links scattered around as well
f you want to follow and support me and stay
a bit more up to date let's get into it
Well guys we've just arrived in town
Look this is the entrance
My dad can't resist he's already heading forward
It's a town that's quite well you can see how the sidewalks
and everything are how they used to
be the narrow streets for traffic
There is indeed one house that’s occupied
or perhaps they come on weekends but
well I think there are only two The
first one right upon arrival is this one
You can see the condition it's in
It has a very nice aroma
Besides did you notice the wood it's made of Daddy Yes
It's from
It's good thick wood right
Thick board
The kind that had money you know
It was thick brown
It's brown
But the wood the thickness of the wood really catches my attention
because they're usually not that
Mira they had to hide it down there in the center because it's sunken
Yes It has
gold I can see bracing it
Yes yes look look at this detail
This bracing is not standard
They're usually the four on
Well those four little jerks over there—get lost I'm going to
head over to the
house that's catching my eye
Look how the staircase is I'm going up very
carefully because I wanted to show you
in case anything is visible
Is the door open
Even if I can only see her from
here Look this was the kitchen
Ugh Wow look
at you handsome
Goodness me
No no more is needed—I have plenty of light Look they're
still hanging here those bags Look at
the beautiful frame this door had
I think the ground is
solid so I'm going to go
in at least this far to show you a bit of the layout
The roof is in terrible shape so I don
’t want to go inside It’s been raining these past few days I don’t want to enter
because it’s wood and is quite rotten
Here's a chair Did
they take the kitchen away
Yes the kitchen
No just up to here right
It's broken
The plate is here but the front panel Ah yes the front panel they've taken it They
took it because it's beautiful
Mirad this was from a
clock wasn't it Yes They
were made almost entirely
in the Basque Country
The frontals were indeed from a company in the Basque Country
I didn't know that Yes indeed
Most of them notice are Orbegozo and kitchen brands
Look at the typical oil cans they used for cooking
The ladle
The ladle huh
All the stews it must have stirred up and here it is today
And the one with the yogurts that have been Look they used this for seedlings too
Yes they're seedlings
I don’t know when these yogurts were made—they’re brands I’ve never heard of
But they were used for seedlings right sir
How curious
Well as you can see just a little house
The first one we've found in the condition it's in
We can't go any further from here because it's in very poor condition and poses a serious risk
So nothing The chair isn't here—it must be over there Alright let's keep going
come on there's plenty to see
The town is quite large
Come to the door just a little so animals don't get in at least
It's a shame It was open when
we arrived and animals could easily get inside and hurt themselves
Well let's keep going this way
And I'm going to show you the whole thing because I think it's absolutely beautiful
It has some fairly neglected sections
There's my father over there having trouble with the herbs
Be careful not to kill me now okay
So that I don’t have to record a croquette rolling around here
Look at the enclave you're in—it's spectacular You can see
the entire basin all the little villages right across from you
When I said I knew you'd find
it attention-grabbing it's because of the kind of homes available here
There are many houses that are practically already in ruins
This one for example is well maintained—of the two I mentioned earlier
it's the one that's kept in the best condition
And here the corner of Baliño which seems quite
good in comparison to the others we'll come across
It actually has
a terraced area here with a view quite beautiful
I truly love how even as towns fade away there are still
people who invest in keeping their
homes alive If no one says
Yes of course nobody's saying you have to have it perfect but at least keep it up so it looks like something
This one has people living here unlike this
one here which looks in what condition it's in
Look at how this one is huh
Also this is traditional architecture from here from Asturias
Look at how uneven this wall is huh
See how curved it is—it's about to collapse right here
If someone comes by unexpectedly like we did they could show
up any day now and this could come crashing down on you
It's risky so nobody’s saying to invest a fortune but come on just don’t lose it all
sell them because I know as I mentioned earlier there are many people who
You'd invest here to come weekends
even rent out properties so people could live in these little villages
The livestock shed beneath the house designed to provide warmth Of course
Look here was the livestock shed
Well it looks a bit off through there
Look at this house how beautiful
There must have been people here not long ago right
This roof is really something—look at it here but I reckon this is from about twenty years ago
Something like that definitely inhabited right What did you
see there
You won't believe it
The bathroom Yeah
Look the bathroom
It's just a little shed out here you know
You wouldn't go out in winter
You wouldn't go out in winter huh
Isn't she beautiful though
I absolutely love it
Plus the view is amazing—since the terrace is elevated it offers such a stunning panorama just look
Hey I'm going to raise the camera a bit
I think you've just seen the views from a slightly different angle haven't you
Yes it doesn't matter—we keep moving forward
There are also views here look right
Look at this pain
What a traditional little house with this look the corridor here we'll be able to see right through
the window
To go up don't miss it
This is the staircase leading up the house above and the little cottage there where he might have lived
A marriage with one or two children at most
Super small huh
People back then must have been quite short since the door which we measure now
Seventy-eight look how this door is—probably about seventy no more than that
Look at this how beautiful
Wow check out the views from this corridor huh
Yeah yeah I absolutely love this corridor you know
I told you all along that I'd really liked it from the very beginning
No when you leaned over here and I realized you were
doing that to me—well I'll be darned This is absolutely incredible
The thing is I can't show it to you because I wouldn't even dare well that's as far as I'm going
I’d dare to step on it but not from here to there—I’m
not brave enough because the floor is so
fragile you know Extremely fragile
Yes this house also has a locked door but you see don't you
The views are incredible
What I have been finding out is
that this village once had seventy families right living here
I don't know if I've ever told you that huh baby did I tell you
Seventy or seventy-five I'm not entirely sure but that's about where they lived here
Something's visible
Yes the closet
This is where they should have transformed him
Seriously look here
Oh that's awesome kid
Phew the floor's really in bad shape huh
We won't be able to get in nothing we won't be able to get in but look you get the idea
With the wallpaper still here it shows how the layout of this house used to be
What a shame huh
If those people who lived here came back now
That’s another legend a staircase
Look the enameled ones you see
And that one had a balcony facing the same direction too they boarded it up on this side but that’s the one
The balcony here faces the other side so we won't be
able to see it from anywhere
Can you imagine the views from this house out on that balcony—yes they did cover
it up with something I don’t know what—on this side yes
That's strange huh They should
really make a room or something right
Or one where the airflow was
strong enough to work Strong enough to work
That would have brought in the harsh winds and bad weather from the east which is why in part
They closed it off better on this side since that's not a solution—it weighs too much for the balcony
Yeah I can't believe it's still standing
huh Yeah yeah
But it's obvious
It's just really well built guys
Look at these stone supports
Check this one out huh
I think people still come here
Yes this one must be one of the few that come around
often Well not often really now that you mention it
Well I mean maybe some weekend or something
Because this is a bit
So I know some are quite well-kept others aren't but some definitely are
What a shame huh I’d definitely invest in a place like this for sure—restore it and rent it out even if just for a little income
Look here another one’s completely
ruined huh Look
You can still see the kitchen tiles huh
Take a look at how this house is inside huh
What a shame kid
And here it continues and I'm seeing more over there so this was like
a section of the village and there's another one here look come here
Yes that way right
No no that way
Up there I do see a few more houses which we can check later to see how to access them but
In principle I believe the village extended all the way there to
the end Let's walk over there
No no forget it—here there are cars and that’s all I think matters right
There was a metal barrier right
So they wouldn’t get through
Not only to hold the ground but beyond that passage is no longer possible
It is restricted yes
The passage is restricted
Mirad all the autumn leaves are still here Here
this makes for compost so that in the spring
Look at the walls huh
What they had here
So all this we've been walking through is actually a wall built to support something above it presumably
garden Yes look those are the
old entrances to the garden over there but this has been like this ever since
older people stopped coming here to work the land
Look
Well yes it's quite a job they've had to do this since it's all stone
This project may seem like nonsense but you won't truly understand its
difficulty until you actually sit down and try doing it
And look at the condition this house is in for example
We can't even get in now can
we That's just how it is
But you can imagine even the paint on the walls there is still visible
The window that had
There must have been a corridor here given the protrusions
and the doorway the classic corridor found in student houses
And you'd exit through this door right
Yes
Look here was another one—likely neighbors
It would be a block down Yes it was indeed a block down and
they lived upstairs because the upstairs walls had paintings
And you can see there's been another structure there don't you see it
Yes yes the paint is clearly visible there
I can hear something like a fountain or similar
Come carefully here because this place is honestly terrible
But I'm hearing something like a fountain or similar over here
Ah it's because the water flows through here
Roll the water this way
Maybe there's a source or something around here—look No no look
at everything coming from over there to here
Yes yes there's ping here too look
Is there a pipe
There's a pipe so there was likely a fountain right here in this area
They collected water collecting water
for the livestock troughs and for washing clothes and those kinds of things
Yes but I mean that wherever the water used to flow they always
placed a laundry trough—possibly buried somewhere around here
He's surely buried somewhere around here
Yes right over there
What I do know is that based on location I believe the mine where the people who lived there worked was
Here one would go down this path and surely continuing on this route would lead to the mine
It was the New Mine I think that's what it was called
Yes La Nueva
The one closer to
here The Arroyo one
Look at how much water there is Yes none at all but it's noticeable because of the dense vegetation a wadi Yes but
you can clearly see a lot of water
Yes yes go down that way the one
from God Imagine it pristine in its day huh
Alright let's try heading up to the upper area where that house is located up there
There's another one I saw back there—let's see if we can find a way to
reach them because I'm not entirely sure where the path up is
I think we're finally reaching the part where we go up to the higher area of the village which is
right here in the middle of where we came from where we began our exploration back there
We'd seen this house with the wall collapsing and a small path leads up this way
And I think it goes up to the upper part to the houses that were located above
Let's check what's around this area since you can see it's completely deserted
Mirad the stone floor made of compacted stone fragments
as was traditionally done is still visible to prevent mud
What a shame Look at how the front entrance to the house is
here There used to be an entrance at the back
Yes there was another
entrance What a shame how it's turned out
I don't know if I can get close because this is terrible—I can't see anything
I'll try to gently widen the camera a bit
to slide it in there and see if we can spot anything
Mirad I can see you a little over
there I can't do much more I'm telling you because honestly it's terrible
And well the door's closed we're not going in so there's not much light
Mirad there must have been a net here to keep mosquitoes or something out can you
see it Yes yes
It's still stuck there Absolutely
To leave it open for
airing out definitely
Look at that swatting insects and mosquitoes over there in the field and all
Ugh What a
shame Look at what's here
Gosh Look at this beautiful
house in ruins here
And here there should have been another one
From here what we should have are views of the houses—look right
I'm not sure if I'm giving you the right perspective from here
Take a look at this house the one were just talking about with the views I mentioned
This one also had to have stunning views but this one here didn’t fall short did it
That one's even higher
What a marvel
And the one we're about to see in the final— the one that must be incredible
There's another one above it— I don't know if it made it onto camera or not
What a pity
That must be Yes
the one over there
My father's referring to the one over there
The last one yes has to be an absolute showstopper in terms of views and everything else
Gosh She’s completely fallen apart
huh Yeah
Look see where the chicken coop is down here
Do you see it has the feed bin there Yes yes
It must have the chicken coop right there
Well let's at least gather together just to look out
the window see what it's like inside right now huh
What a shame kid
If these walls could talk huh
Can you imagine The countless stories and experiences
that must have taken place within these homes
The ones that will speak shortly are these because look it's already giving way here
No this one is going to collapse shortly
This one really does seem to be kept
a bit Yes this one clearly is being maintained
It looks like they've added a small metal roof to shield it
Probably the top part fell off so they've given it some protection
They’re sure to come by now and then
Will it have a garden
And this I don't know if it's the tallest in town
Let's get closer daddy
Dime Probably the one
we saw from below The
one we saw from below
Among the trees I told you about
Ah well yes Yes I
remember now
From below
Ugh Wow the
view here is incredible huh
The thing is look at this state of neglect huh
What a shame man check this out huh Those enamel ones
they make into planters
Since the door is open
let's carefully go in this
far and I'll show you the views this house had
Look
These were called basins Wasn 't
it a basin Yes they were
basins There used to be some
in my house when I was a child
For washing and for
everything else For cutting wood Yes
Well it's locked And
with a key too
They do have an entrance look for cats
or Yes
For something right
Yes yes
That's strange
Well maybe he knows there's one around here
and also keeps it safe from mice and the like
Yes look here
That's the old kitchen over there
With the table Look
at this view
This was the ideal view
Yes
Pull out the camera and take a look It should look amazing from here
Amazing place huh
And look now see how all the rooftops appear
from here completely buried under vegetation
A little milkmaid
Look another little milkmaid yes
Hanging here right
So tiny isn't
she What was she used for so small
Well maybe it was just to get
some milk you know keep
it handy in the kitchen for coffee and that sort of thing Yeah exactly
They’d have livestock like that
they’d go they’d graze and the
young ones—there was no need for much more That kind wouldn’t come back
My goodness
What a shame kid to see it like this
That’s where the stable should have been
Well it's a pity but it's the path that all
the communities here in Asturias are following
I also tell you that the road to get here is
insane right I came in
my dad's car as you know
He was skating a lot
Let's go a bit higher up here
because if I'm not mistaken
at the very top there was a very large house
Yes the house too
Yes yes
I think it was a big big house right
But you can see how it is now
You might run into a wild boar here or
This area isn't bear territory
Fortunately it's not a bear
but still be careful—boars
can be dangerous when they have piglets with them
They can hurt you just as much huh
Honestly
You climbing okay
Be careful okay
It's pretty bad
We'll investigate up here and
see if we get
lucky because I'm
spotting some walls around here
Yes it's reached from
here I can see it already
Yes You have
to get all the way up here
and it's located to the left
So there were two houses huh
Mira there were two houses This
one here was a bit more modest
What does it make you feel when you see
How do you feel
It always brings to mind
the kind of life they might have lived here
How so
What did they do every day Because then
there was no electricity nothing at all As soon
as it grew
dark in winter—by five
in the afternoon—they
’d have to go inside
prepare whatever they've gathered from the garden
the milk make
cheese in short the life we lead
That always caught my attention
But it had to be tough tough right
Life here
You're used to it you've seen it around but for someone who hasn't
Yeah I think we're about 700 meters in No
maybe a bit less Are
we around 600 meters now
Low area or generally
From the coast
Ah yes
Around 600
I'd estimate about that right
About that
Because earlier at the port were at 800
Look if it's preserved
Look at this detail huh
Be careful climbing up here
Look at this detail here
The mosquito entry point into the
house—still preserved
here Look see
This was the entrance to the house
Good heavens Can you imagine people walking in through here
Federico Calle Federico García Lorca Seriously
Yes yes
Look at what my father has noticed—
something I hadn't
seen myself Property
Building
Wow it's stuck on this one
García Lorca Building
Private property
Look here
Pretty intense huh
Well it's private
property but look
at it—what condition is it in huh
Look The house as
it is today inside
How is it
And here I don't know
what they might have had
Something a bit unusual
I don't know what The bathroom anyway is
out here I want to imagine they had
But let's go check out that last house over there
It has
It looks really good
My father couldn
't resist and went all the way there
See how he's climbing huh He'
s tiring himself out but he's
already there nosing around
because something caught his eye
The truth is this
house Look at how big it
is huh I'm not sure if you can tell it's big next to the others
Looks like the old house huh
As my father used to say
Besides look here there was another building next
to it What could this be
The block Yes
A ver
I'm going to add a little light
Yes This was
a chicken
coop The mesh is still there
Likely there'd be cows or
something around here—be careful
that ground could have
anything underneath you know
No one can look inside it's sealed
Well well I just don't understand this at all A relatively
new electricity meter It's off not working
no power consumption whatsoever
But amazingly he has
a brand-new meter So the electricity company
had to come all the way
here just to install a meter right
Incredible
I
imagine it's closed
Yes It's closed so
It doesn't even have an expiration date does it
For the seedling tray as long as it's not empty
Yes but the expiration date
I wouldn't even put it here now
No this isn't that old now is it
No but I don't recognize this brand
No it's not that old
Look at the water situation
There's no consumption
either It's zero zero
Gosh Well it had water
Look how curious huh
It had both water and electricity
This house huh Up here
And they've changed the meter
on me which totally blew
my mind Seems
they installed it afterward right Yeah yeah
But there's no one here
Yeah yeah Look at
how this is
Exactly what we always imagined exactly what
we always talked about
A crucial moment arrived
where the locals here the mines
started to shut
down bought out below
moved away and left behind just
four days of summer and a little more
I'll show you the front
of the building from this side here and
I think we've already seen
everything Look
Well this house look
It didn't look bad from here either now did it
Look how beautiful Have
you seen it from here How beautiful it is
It's big huh
The thing is it's completely closed up
The doors are locked with a padlock
How curious
Lost here are we
And still locked up
with a padlock even now aren't they
Germans huh
They are from Germany
He'll be the leader bringing everything
in from Germany This is
already a native forest
Fascinated huh You're fascinated by the yogurts from I didn't
expect to find this here
Mirad I can hear
chainsaws over
there and I'm telling you
this is native forest which is quite rare these days There's oak
There are plenty of trees
here typical ones Up there
I can see more houses but
they're already more modern
They must belong there I
don’t know if you appreciate it among
the vegetation they already
must belong to another people
It's just a bit
farther up About 600 meters from here
I'd say So I
We're going to stop exploring here for now
As I said I'm going to end the exploration here
We'll gradually make our way down
and I'm taking my dad out to eat
because poor guy's doing me a favor
by letting me use his car
and driving me all the way here so I can record
since I'd left the caravan to fix
what I'd mentioned about the hot water
and given that she loves eating it
only made sense to
invite her to dinner
Yeah right Extra guest
Of course extra guest
So nothing else
I’ll leave you with some social media links around here
