Hey YouTube fam I hope you're all doing amazing as always and I really hope you've loved the videos we've been uploading to the channel so muc
Well I'm going to show you a deserted village right in the middle of nowhere— as you can see it's a nice day today
ypical Asturian
it's raining it's cold there's mist from the rain and the truth is well
Most of the videos you've seen were filmed in sunny weather since it doesn't always rain in Asturias—I don't know why people always say it rains there
It rains quite a bit because of that it's green and that's the price of the greenery known here as
To have green it has to rain and since nothing's changing let's head up to a village here that I'll show you right now
And I think you'really going to love it okay It's located in a setting like this—see I'm climbing up this trail here
That's great—it's open for cattle everything that goes through here since some livestock remains I've been told tha
The small number of people who own livestock here will vanish entirely
because they say there are plenty of bears and wolves in this area meaning nothing's safe so possibly all this will just stay as it is
Dead in a very short time what I'm seeing are numerous animal tracks both wild boar and roe deer
I haven't seen any bears so far which is a good sign so nothing much—feel free to join me in this video if you'd like
Don't forget to like subscribe and if you can follow me on Instagram—link below as always
I'd be very grateful so I won't waste any more time—let's get straight to it
Well you may not realize it but as I was saying look at the
day the weather and aside from the vegetation and surroundings
There's the village
right there tucked away
I'm going to try to get through because there are many more hidden by the thick vegetation and I'll show you each house one by one—I'll be with you every step of the way
ow overgrown it is since I still don't even know if I'll be able to get
But there we can see the houses the granaries and everything else so come on let's head that way
Good I've been walking along the path for a while now and haven't arrived yet but I wanted to show you the stone path
old the cobblestone path they'd built to ascend
here now completely worn away by rain the passage of large animals and lack of maintenance
Well I've been walking for a while now and I
wanted to show you this because it struck me as odd that it's still open
But anyway I tell you there are still some ranchers passing by or I suppose there used to be since I only see tracks of wild animals
They're all around I'm not sure if you notice them but now I can show you one look
here's one of a fox
And were there any other wild boar or roe deer around here
Nothing at all I'm not showing you any because I don't see any myself
So nothing let's head up there
After a rather long and muddy hike I've finally arrived—well
look at this the first thing you see are the little walls of
e people who lived here—imagine it in its time
it was just a little wall the main street that led
And there's the schedule I suppose it's a schedule—haven't looked at
it closely yet—but judging by its appearance it seems like a schedule
So well I'll gradually get closer look here there are
already boats that have been
sitting here for quite some time
So you see bottles suitcases—now we're
starting to realize there was life here once
This suitcase I imagine
weighs nothing—it's empty
Well look there's the schedule— I'm not
sure you can see it clearly it's really faded
Through the underbrush I think it's open judging by what I can see here among the branches so I'm going to go through this whole section and show it to you
It's been hard to get in because of the overgrowth I've eaten quite a bit already so
I 'll show you what's underneath first—it's a horrio since I've already seen it only has
Up a little bit and that's what makes the difference between the schedule and the breadbasket
Mainly so nothing much—I'll just move closer here and see how it goes the whole thing's drenching me because
moving the vegetation
Alright look down—there
might be a block down there
And I see tables and boxes and a lot of
wood that surely would be used for repairs—something would have been fixed
It was surely some tool or implement but it's so damaged now that you can't really tell what it was meant to be
So I'm going up—I think there's something inside the stairs are stone which is why they've been preserved so well as you can see
They're eating nothing but moss but this only grows in places where the
air is truly pure pure pure—this doesn't grow anywhere just any place
In fact here in Asturias at least collecting moss is prohibited—I understand that
though I'm not sure if the law has changed but it was still forbidden not too long ago
Well take a look
ose of you who've followed me in previous videos always hear me say
that I don't post this myself and obviously as you know I haven't uploaded it here yet but
Alright you've already told me the usual thing—now tell me guys are they made of hazelnut or chestnut
Well other countries have told me they just call them baskets outright and a whole bunch of other names too
If anyone has a different name for this please leave it in the
comments—it's important so we don't lose knowledge please check
It's pretty bad you just don't see
how it's sinking I'm quite heavy
I'll try to record what's inside okay but I can't guarantee it—just give me a second while I attempt to upload
Good roof on the
The forgiveness of the wooden orrio is complete
The floor is in terrible shape absolutely terrible—look it's full of holes and considering my weight the wood is barely holding up
It's really bad—I'm stepping on the main beams just to keep from falling but I'll show it to you from here
Well there are two baskets with wool mattresses
As you can see sheep's wool—something very hard to find
these days—because you can tell these were made here
en there's that over there
It's a piece of furniture that looks like it's for work if anyone can tell me you'd be helping me a lot really I am
I welcome criticism immensely especially when it's constructive and helps
me figure out what these old pieces of furniture are— it means a great deal to me
There's not much there really—just a coat
hanging on the wall and a tool
a saw that's all
I pay close attention to things here on the walls because that's where we keep our belongings but anyway there's nothing else left now
Then here look look at this lock—this blows my
mind just imagine
the craftsmanship involved
It really gets me because I find it using a
detector and then I recognize so many pieces thanks to having seen them on sites like that
Alright here the floor is already in very bad shape
And I wanted to show you what's behind that door so if you don't mind since you can see how the floor is already
If you'll allow me I'll just step away for a moment and try opening the door to see if it's unlocked
Nothing—this door's locked same as always I don't break them anymore but who knows what might be inside Honestly it's hard to say
So nothing else we'll head down and go to the first house right there in the middle and I'll start clearing the way as usual
Goodness look at these little walls surrounding the house—there
was probably a courtyard here in this area but just look at this house right here
Alright let's see if we can get in first since I don't know how the floor is—these houses were usually made of wood
and the floor is probably a mess
Here there should be a courtyard
examine the details of the wood
Everything was handmade— that’
s what gives its greatest value
I'm going to turn on some
lights—this is way too dark
e floor is lifting up
the entire section is raised
I can see the wall is cracked there which means the house likely has structural damage
so just stepping onto the ground whether it's soil or sorry rock
and I'll show you what's at the entrance
at they had machines for mowing blades—sorry for
mowing a broom to sweep with and a pair of pants
Look at the crack in the house and the kind of
paint they used—this totally blows me away this must have been the pantry
Maybe I can record
it for you
as you can see there are cauldrons tools for work
o gaze while drinking wine
anise bottles of anise those bottles of anise
Alright and not much more—what's incredible is the house I'm about to show you I'll stretch the GoPro out so I don't touch the ground
I'm sending this my way and I hope you can see something from there
That would be the kitchen
Look at that chair
What a shame we can't get in you can see how slippery the floor is
I'm going to try there's a window on the
left side of the house that I'm going to attempt
I'm going to try accessing
I'll slightly improve the kitchen for you I think you'll really like it
I'm heading out of
the house and I'm going
I’ll ride around the house
as much as possible just to see if I don’t kill myself
each you through the window
The house was very well built constructed of stone but it has suffered
some structural damage as you can see the crack there look though
if this is the kitchen from the other angle
there was
A room we'll never reach I see
a handcrafted
table far off in the distance a wardrobe that's probably antique brutal
The coal stove is still here clearly
no one's going to carry it off look a little fabric pouch they might have
used to store things in just to see
clothespins
And there's not much more I can show you since everything's completely
broken as you can see and it's not even worth trying to access
Here they had a place to hang clothes and a sock still remains there
Just look at the wooden structure—these houses are a shame to leave in this state
but you can imagine how these people lived back then
let's see if there's anything else back here
And if we don't keep walking through the village to find another little house
nothing here can be reached anymore—see how it is now look for yourselves
The window is closed and has bars this window is surrounded by thick weeds
and we won't be able to get through but anyway I hope you enjoyed that part of the house
Nothing we're going to head toward
another spot Look I wanted to show
you so you can see there are wolf tracks here—this is a wolf passage trail
They'll do whatever they please with all of this which is
why the ranchers said they wanted to leave this place a little bit since they claim there's too much of it
The house were just looking at has a wall back here and I wanted
to show you because—look at the
views from where they stored the hay
Looking at the view still shows the roses there which the lady likely planted in her time
And look at this amazing spectacle how beautifully the birds sing
It is absolute peace this
And going down a bit further I’ve managed to see the barn from this angle as well
as the house—a small panoramic view of the house which is so completely hidden
Through the thick undergrowth in the middle everything is surrounded by a wall and would have a courtyard
at we can't access it— I've already tried but it's not
impossible so I hope you enjoy this part I'm showing you
Alright no more delay let's head for another house
I was following this street which leads to other houses and here you have this one that's right there
completely destroyed but it looked like it must have been huge—about
25 meters long maybe—but there's nothing left now so let's keep moving
Looking here there was another possibility—that this might be the bottom part
of the orrio or perhaps directly
on a small block or something similar
It's because the stairs are visible here but as you can
see there's absolutely nothing left after all this time
Alright I'll keep walking since the other one is right here as you can see
Check out that awesome mome
There's a barn over there and as for the house you can see how old
it is from its design if anyone here
from Asturias knows what style this is
This kind of house leave it in the comments as I told you before you're helping me a lot okay
at I've lost a lot of culture and the idea is that young people watch these videos and through the comments can learn something
e culture that is being lost as communities are losing their connection to their roots
Alright I'm going in through the door
Since nothing was open well the one below was already broken and the first thing we found was
What really excites me are the paintings that remind me of ancient Rome
You know the kind of paint I mean— it reminds me of ancient Rome I'm not sure about you
Looking at a cabinet probably to check
out the kitchen — this is the kitchen
you can see that everything is still as it was 70 or 80 years ago or that all the frames are entirely made of wood
Or in other words all the batteries we see in homes are old and still here
There is no light or rather no signs whatsoever of having seen or having had light here
I'm going to proceed with caution
And I'm showing you what's in the kitchen—look here's a little drawer where they used to keep I don't
know if you can see them but these
are hazelnuts
The plate—here this is where they used to fill it
with water heat it up using the coal stove
turn on the tap and have hot water
Imagine the amount of time this charcoal kitchen has endured and still remains here perhaps because no one can come to take them away
ere is a fairly significant stretch to walk throug
and this is quite heavy to look at
it's like
like what's currently available in terms of extractors but
with a nearby window they'd open to let out the smoke when cooking or doing other tasks here that produced fumes outside
Surely the smoke and hang some things here too
well what I imagine is that this could be another perspective
My goodness look at all this you kids
This oven is called a forno in Asturias but it's essentially an oven
That's where the good one went working in all those countries—I imagine they function pretty much the same way there you'd bake bread or whatever else you wanted to cook
and preserves this structure which I imagine was intended to channel the air
at's where the ladder would go up the chimney and the chains would surely smoke in this room
It looks like they might also smoke things here just like the sausages and everything—check out that piece of furniture
What a find guys—what a find I'm absolutely loving this
house—it's super authentic straight out of the old days
because there are renovated ones that aren't as appealing anymore since you come
across much more modern options but this place is good—it has something like a room here
And the same with the paintings
everywhere—just dots—and looking out the window the suitcase is blocking
everything you can't see a thing
and we're going to access something like that sound—we're going to access
the staircase opening which as you can see was made of chestnut it seems
And holy hell what is this I 've
never seen anything like
this in my life—it's stone looks like a stone bathtub
Oysters I've never seen this before
If anyone knows what this is please let me know because it looks like a stone bathtub
literally but then it has a lid so it can be covered as if serving a dual purpose
I have no idea what this is but to me it looks like a bathtub—please guide me in the comments
and the time we have we'll climb the stairs which seem to be
in pretty good shape since I've seen they're well preserved
This video stretches on a bit but
if you're as into this exploration as I am
this would be the main hall on the second floor
it has another one too
The roof is leaking so badly it's absolutely terrible
so I'll show you this section which are bedrooms—probably here
there would be a living area for gathering or a decorative table
look because it was formerly just a room with nothing but a wooden bed
allada
Looking at these beds they probably could accommodate two to three
maybe even four people because there wasn't enough space for more
Back then you wouldn't believe it—you had a bed for every single person I'm going to head to the edge now
prevent it from breaking as this is the toughest part of the
houses and look here there was another room with another bed
It's super tiny but then again they probably spend their whole day working so let's check out the one over there
And looking at this staircase I can't climb it but I'll try to show you through that hole over there what's up there is worth it
This room had nothing in it but a bed would barely fit and you
wouldn 't even be able to close the door I'm barely going to squeeze the
The camera moves a lot I'm sorry but it's really hard to film when I'm squeezing the camera in there—see if you can spot it
I think what I could see there was an old chest a shame I
can't climb up to see what's inside but I hope I haven't seen it yet
What's there but I hope you enjoyed it
and nothing I'm off now
heading down this way
Before leaving this house I didn't want to leave without showing you
these outside the paintings too—on the porch that has the entrance
Look at the little drawings they
made on the edges of the wall
The thing is of course that back then imagine not being able to just go
to a fancy store and
buy whatever you wanted—you had to design it yourself
Well whatever you could
draw seems incredible to me
these engravings might date from
the 1700s to the 1800s
around 1700 but more like 1800 and so on so you can see
The weather isn't cooperating
we came this way and
Good a bit of fog is starting to rise I'm not sure if you can see it in the video but I think you're catching it quite well
and we're in the middle of it I don't want to take too many risks but anyway let's turn left here I think that's it
We found more homes and will show them to you to see what condition they're in
The house we've just been in is the one with the side-facing facade
That's where I was telling you we'd head over here to see if we spot anything else
Because according to our research there should be another one—or at least there ought to be—but let's see what we actually come across
And nothing boys I walked a little further and came across this little guy down here
It won't stop raining—see how the mist has crept into this setting
Below nothing— it has a cart that looks wooden so the base is wooden
then it has an iron frame but the thing is
I'd never seen it rebuilt with wood making use of some reclaimed timber
and then here nothing just a trailer attached to a
horse from a car since I can't see the car's hitch anywhere
and there are baskets
made of slender rods resembling rods woven together
and a little more I can't reach because you can see how the door is
but
We're going to go see the last structure remaining in this town which
appears to be a large shed with a thatched roof where they used to store hay
but I only have access to what I've been able to see since that door over there is closed
And up there you can see the window is interlaced—I'm not sure
if you notice it but the window does have an interlaced pattern
It will be the one that cleans the rain off the lens
there they would store the grass so it could breathe
And this at the same time being just a little
protected—well look I'm going to show you now
This block is terrible—look at this
mess it's overrun with weeds and mud
Look there — there was a fountain
of stone where the livestock should be and here
as you can see the
entrance to the stable
Inside it's just a block and above
is where the grass was stored— they hauled it up there
They used to carry it all up there
and stash the entire
batch of weed in a place like a bird's nest and nothing here there's nothing at all
Nothing else wait I need to leave the umbrella behind
and I'll turn on some light but let's see how this looks
And just a block away there it is the feeders right in front of you
where the grass was thrown and looking up to see if the grass is confirmed by the roof's structure
Well then let's head out
Well nothing left but being soaked through as you can see and honestly look at me covered in mud everywhere
but to show you these towns to the people who are from here in Asturias and especially to those of you watching from outside
Spain is truly worth it
As always I kindly ask that you please subscribe like and share the videos as it helps me tremendously
