How's it going YouTube family
Nothing much we're growing massively on the channel
and today as you saw in the thumbnail which is what you love the most
These are the abandoned villages around
here in the area where I live
in Asturias so they've passed me the chevatazo from another village
I've driven here in the 4x4
truth is we still have to climb the
entire trail up there through the trees
And everything I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to find but anyway it'
s a town I've left behind for quite
some time and it looks really promising
so if you feel like joining me on
another adventure let's get started
Alright I drove the car as far as I
could but I’ll have to leave it right in the middle of the road
because you’re about to see
just how bad this is
As you can
see it 's been abandoned
for many years overrun
by weeds over there is a large house and
here this must be another one
a block or so maybe since it's
closed—someone's definitely been using it lately—look
I'm going to get
closer so you can see for yourselves
Alright now or occasionally
—because the door has a lock
we're not going in there
but we will go in the others
It probably looks awful but check this
one—it's been locked for ages and hasn't opened in forever but I'm going to turn
on the light see if
you can spot anything
It has things stored from the church
the issue is I can't get the camera in properly let me see
As you can see they 've got something
from the church stored
there or something similar—a bidet and a
few other things scattered around
quite old but anyway I'm
telling you we're not going
in here so nothing much I 'll
show you the upper par
It looks absolutely amazing—just you wait and see
so that you may locate them this is the one I just showed you which was
closed this is the other one I showed you when you entered the village
at has
the door fallen dow
and let's see what's inside
well inside there
are basically
abandoned compost
or fertilizer bags
and this was a bloc
We can't even go up there because
of the roof—well it's super thin so
fragile it's barely
holding together
so we're not climbing up at all
We're heading to this area right here
at this area
was the main square
—look at how everything is now
This was the main area because you're about to see what's here which
is impressive—there
was once a little house that's now collapsed
and we'll see it from the bottom side later
This house was enormous
this was the back part and in front you can see
the kitchen and a
few other things I'll show you the one we came down from
there had been another house here
we'll be able to go inside it
and here's the church
which honestly I find unbelievable
because these villages are rare to come across
Yes rather chapels but finding
it with that was
incredibly rare
We're going to go
inside it—first thing
access is available through here
This place is in terrible shape—
clearly it's been
ages since anyone 's
been here Look where I
have to descend and this must have been
what had been the main
square since that was where
the church stood likely where neighbors gathered
They had a lovely view the truth is it's truly beautiful
This is the church
He stayed put
frozen in time
—this one's really cool dude
—I turned on the light not
sure if you'll see anything
I've given it a little extra boost
here are what look like
the let me
see if I can keep the door open because it shuts
and you'll see much better
This must be where they bring the saints or
yes this is where they must have placed the
saints or the Virgin so they
could carry her
out and bring her back during the procession
There's another one over there
The altar is still intact kid
Look there should be another one here
another virgin a saint something
e age these frames will have
My goodness
look at the statues
ese statues
They can quietly live to be
100 150 even 200 years old—
basically an
absurdity—and yet
they've remained right here
e altar below
The ceiling up there
is collapsing and here's the
little room that all
these churches have—this one has nothing
at all as far as I can see
right down to the floor
It's all ruined—water must be getting
in there and it's
starting to collapse
It's actually brutal really it looks
like someone was here not long ago
with the original banks
and everything
brutal the truth
Alright let's head over to this little house here and
I'll record you when you're standing at the entrance
This place is brutal—this house has
an absolutely stunning
porch right here
at has a
wicker basket here
as super old
shoes scattered everywhere with the
bottles
look at this brush here that
got stuck in the
can solidified
This must have been an internal
courtyard with a
roof where they kept
the tiles stored here for re-roofing
a common practice in these houses
By this time they were moving
with the wind and the storm
up here there's another another
I'm going to record for you
I couldn't get up there and here
they had another courtyard which
actually collapsed completely onto the
roof—goodness knows what was up here
Surely something
for the chickens or
some such thing let's go
inside the house to see what we can spot since the flashlight I
have isn't very strong
but look—there 's
the house
that's about to collapse
The coat rack is still here
The little hole in the staircase
Look
there's a well over there
In old houses they used to have
a water well you can
see it here—this
is most likely where
they drew their water
from I've seen this before
and many old houses
like that had a
well right there where they drew their water from always located beneath the stairs
or in the living room or at the entrance
Until the floor I don't know if you hear it creaking
look
this is the entrance to the kitchen
look here there's
clothes lying around
an old pair of pants
I can enter this one
because as you can see the floor
is built on top of the
stone they placed it right on the stone
and there's no upper floor above it
and look at the charcoal kitchen from that era
the age it must have been
with the faucet left on there
credible the cabinet a piece of furniture here
that would hold
everything as you can see
Musa mayonnaise
Córdoba Spain
It has no date either
but this boat has been
around for a long time
Osborne the bottle look at this little
piece of furniture here
this area is extremely dark in the house because it's blocked off
by the overgrowth
This room is extremely dark
and there's an old drawer
Imagine that eh
There are things that would
better than an old glass
And there isn't much more either
Here is the entire floor lifted up
There would be a
little stool there
and a little more
I'm going to show you the top part
The problem is that the
staircase is in terrible
shape I've already been checking it earlier
when I opened the path and it's really bad—
it creaks terribly—so I can't go any higher
Still looking
the sun is streaming through the window right here
look that's what the top part looked like
Alright this is the upper
part there's a
room I can 't
enter because the floor is
completely shattered
but anyway to give you
an idea of what it's like
And here I can't step either
because the floor might be terrible
what we're going to look at is this room which is the one located above the kitchen
What's that old piece
of furniture over there
and a little more
The truth is they've already searched
every corner of the day and there's no
other room there—no other room besides the
one I'm showing you now from downstairs
Stick the camera in there
and see if
you spot anything we 'll
start descending
The stairs creak giving
me the creeps the other room
this one here I'm going to enter now
the GoPro
through the little hole
And just a bit further on
we're going to another little
house there that has a stove which is absolutely lovely
Alright I'm heading down
to the lower area there
the rest of the houses I'
ll show you them right now
look this stayed here
food buried in the weeds
this is the back part of an oven
I won't be able to show you the
oven today because the roof collapsed—can you
see it there by the window
The entire roof came down and I won't be able to
show it to you but I might still
be able to show you a part
from the hall and
that was the entrance
Back to the house—only the
thing has already given
way poor thing couldn't stand upright any longer
That should be the doghouse
made from old wood with
the food and water bowls
right there on
stone— not wood
It looked like stone but it wasn't wood
This should be the tool shed
at it has already collapsed and
well this is the main
entrance to the house as
you can see the roof—meaning the roof
of the house—has
given way and this is it
and there's no way to
access it from anywhere
so let's head down to the other one
she's her neighbor
and she's absolutely huge
Good look here it shows much better
the condition of the
house
yielded completely
There's another one that also surrendered completely
that one over there with no
roof at all nothing whatsoever
This one's completely
eaten but this one seems a
bit more intact so let's see what we find inside
What a shame these
towns are so lifeless
There's a block up there
vaquitas you find
everywhere you loo
But look here—this house has only
two days left let'
s see what's inside
This is the kitchen
look
at is still there
Let's go inside—it's better in there
Let's shed a little light on this
Look at the hole here
on the floor above
this is the main entrance
the staircase
a room to the right
the kitchen here to the left
Check that this wall-mounted
cabinet here has nothing inside
e block below remains
Look at the kitche
brutal
What a shame to see it like this
given the life
this house once had
It's all rotten
you can hear how it sounds
This is another room
but anyway it's good that nothing is visible here
because my light isn't strong enough yet
I'm just starting out and
making my mistakes
Well it's a room with
nothing in it honestly
We're going to head over there
I think you'really going to love this
Look at the ove
Check the oven uncle
This is where
they used
to make the bread and
this room here also
has another broken cabinet
You go down here
to the other side of the
house where there's a
staircase right here
what's this place for here
where they'd store grass
or even corn
the cobs or who knows what else they'd keep there
s
It definitely looks like it's meant to store grass—or
who knows maybe rabbits A
rabbit hutch really Doesn't it
because we're right across the stree
And as you can
see it's a complete mess—it 's
utterly ruined
We're going to exit this way
and we came in through that
little corner over there—that
was the other entrance to
the house—and this part here—
Good I found this
little hole here
in the ceiling to
see the rooms above
and as always I'm going to stretch
the GoPro because there's no way to upload it so you can see
would be the room upstairs
I don't know if you've seen
anything but I managed to record
at least something went all the way around the house here
and we're going to climb the
stairs to see what we can
record because honestly this house is
a bit of a bloody mess
This is the top part
The stairs are holding
for now so I'll go up as far as I can
but as you can see
It's completely destroyed
Look down at the floor—this
must be a room
and that other
one— I can't
capture it because
the camera doesn't reach
That would
be the exit
at the little terrace there's something that's
blocking me from going
through the hole that's there
And the ceiling is in terrible
shape so I'm getting out of here
We're going down again
Well then I can't show you much more of this village because the
truth is the other houses are
all in ruins just like this one here
e roof has collapsed and it 's
impossible to get in but
you can imagine how many abandoned villages there are
It's not just in all of
Spain—here in Asturias
where I live there are far too many villages
at the owners have given up even
coming to fix the houses—some
due to inheritance issues others
because the roads are impassable
It takes you an incredibly long time to get here so never mind—
shining a light on it I hope these
villages can find a second life
I can't disclose specific locations because I'm not allowed to
but Asturias is full of them
if you take a stroll anywhere in Asturias
You'll come across abandoned villages
I hope you absolutely loved the video
