The Warriors defeated the Timberwolves, 111-85 tonight in Minnesota. Stephen Curry finished with a team-high 26 points along with 7 assists and 4 steals for the Warriors, while Moses Moody tallied 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 three pointers in the game. Anthony Edwards recorded 32 points, 11 rebounds and 4 three pointers. The Warriors improve their record to 26-21 with the win, while the Timberwolves fall to 27-19 for the season.
Fans filing into the Target Center.
It's not that warm.
They're making it look a lot warmer than it is.
It's been frigid here in the state of Minnesota
as the Warriors and the Timberwolves get ready
for what should be a fun matchup,
the second between these two teams of this year.
Starting lineups, the usual suspects for the Wolves,
20 and 13.
This lineup has played more minutes
than any lineup in the NBA.
Speaking of lineups, the Golden State Warriors
will use their 21st different starting lineup tonight.
That's because it includes Al Horford,
who is making just his second start in a Warriors uniform.
21 starting lineups is the fifth most in the NBA.
Anthony Edwards leading the way for the Wolves.
Steph Curry for the Warriors.
One thing we heard during the pregame show,
whenever you play the Warriors,
it's the three-point line is going to matter.
The Wolves did a good job in the first meeting,
holding Golden State to just 33% shooting
from beyond the arc.
But here in the month of January,
the Wolves have given up 38%.
That ranks fifth worst in the league.
And the Warriors, who have been number one all year
in getting threes, in the month of January,
it's jumped even higher.
They're averaging 17 and a half per game
in the month of January.
That, to me, is a big key tonight.
Steph has been shooting it at a pretty high clip, too.
He just made eight threes against Dallas,
eight of 15 against the Mavericks,
in a 38-point performance,
where the Golden State Warriors lost a close game.
But yeah, you've got to be on point.
And this is something Minnesota,
over these last four games,
where they've lost all four,
their defensive field goal percentage has not been great.
They have not really closed out
the three-point shooters quickly enough.
They've got to rectify that here today.
City edition, Prince-inspired jerseys
for the Timberwolves on the home floor.
Court matching up.
And Julius Randle getting us going to the free-throw line.
Jumper, good, two-nothing Minnesota on top.
Run off the three-point line.
Still floated up short,
but he grabbed, had his own offensive rebound.
Finally controlled by Horford.
Now Moody on a run to the rim,
and he'll lay it in for two.
Pajewski, an extra pass to Moody in the corner,
and the three-ball splashes down,
so five straight for Golden State.
The Wolves with an impressive win
at Golden State on December 12th,
as Horford tries again, this time knocks it down.
McDaniels, gonna beat the clock here.
Off the back iron, no.
The Wolves had turned it over on three straight possessions.
They have missed five of six shots to start the game,
but Pajewski gets free.
Seven fast-break points, now nine for Golden State.
Everything that Minnesota wanted to take away here early
is ant-knocks down to Jumper.
To Moody in the corner.
It's gonna be offline.
The Wolves have a chance to push.
Wolves on the average, 15 fast-break points per game.
That ranks the middle of the pack.
Rudy Gobert throws it down.
Edwards, one dribble to pull up three.
He's got five straight points.
That's exactly the action that Golden State uses
to get Steph Curry off.
Still a five-point game.
Yeah, McDaniels loses it, Curry up ahead.
Now Moody with a run to the rim,
and he'll lay it in for two.
11 fast-break points.
This is his 21st game this season,
so Milton will, though,
because he's a good basketball player.
He could be their starting two-guard.
He's ant-knocks down another shot here.
He's the only one that's been on track
for offensively for Minnesota.
Three for three, shooting for Edwards.
Moody, angle three on the way.
That's nothing but net.
They've had real defensive struggles in those two games.
Bosses are Tuesday to Toronto
and Thursday against Dallas.
DiVincenzo, the drive, and the finish.
The hang and hit for Dante DiVincenzo.
After all we've been through here early on,
it's just 19-13, six-point deficit.
Curry runs it up high off the window.
He got the roll.
After just 27 a night, 10th best in the league,
DiVincenzo pops off a three-five straight for DDB,
and Steve Kerr wants to talk it over.
The Wolves had too many down the stretch,
and already here in this first quarter,
up to seven miscues.
Curry gets free down the lane, rejected by Edwards,
and then a little peek over the shoulder.
Especially Minnesota's record's got to be on .2.
Minnesota has to have team success, too, obviously.
That helps build the case for you.
That was the big key two years ago,
when the team won 56 games,
as Al Hortford knocks down his second three.
Sixth man of the year, all of those plays.
Defensive player of the year award for Moody.
Yeah.
They are voting up on Ant.
They are rotating him at two goals.
He's still beating the coverage.
Game on a 14-to-two run.
Wolves finished the quarter on a 17-to-10 burst,
and Curry gets the Warriors going
with his second, no, first three of the night.
His longevity is the way he plays, as well.
How physical he is, still is.
DiVincenzo knocks down his second three of the night.
Conte's on fire now.
Hyland.
Ant's melt.
There's Moody inside, floats it up and in,
right over Draymond Green.
Curry, Daniel's late closing out.
Curry's just deadly.
Really hard to guard.
This is an important time for Minnesota right now,
with Draymond Ant's step off the floor.
Moody sets himself with a three,
and buries the triple right in front
of the Timberwolves bench.
Moses Moody has 13 points to lead all scores.
Curry's got a dozen.
He averages 10.7.
Moody just blocked DiVincenzo,
but Dante gets it back and drains the triple,
his third of the half.
Julius has one.
Julius got the first basket of the game.
But he healed offline on the triple.
Down eight with possession.
Dante deep three.
Got it!
Of six from long range for Dante DiVincenzo.
He's red hot.
Crowd getting into a five point game.
Belton takes Rudy off the triple,
gets the and one.
This game was supposed to happen yesterday.
And so we got the call two o'clock,
whatever, whenever the game was canceled,
we found out we were doing this game.
I'm privileged to be here.
Randall scored the first points of the game
and has not scored since.
Edwards buried the left side three.
That had a little bit of distance to it.
Heal.
Out of rhythm with the pump fake.
Randall the rebound.
Down nine.
Edwards, the stop and pop.
Yes.
Back to Horford down the lane.
He'll kick out Belton online.
Nothing but net on his three.
Here in the second quarter,
as Horford banks away with Edwards.
Now the fall away.
Got it.
Now Horford is...
Edwards.
Off to DiVincenzo.
The deep three is good.
Dante knocks down his fifth of the half.
It's amazing how Minnesota's gotten
most of their offense from two guys.
Edwards being one of them.
13 of 18 for Anthony Edwards and Dante DiVincenzo.
Six point game, despite the Wolves turning it over
16 times and Bones Highland gets free
to make it a four point game.
Edwards gets GP two.
Bates got the step back three.
Hoping to get a call, he didn't.
Here's McDaniel, steps through the lane.
Oh, it looked like he got fouled across the arms.
But Jemski, cherry picking at the other end,
gets the deuce.
And now Horford collects the rebound.
Minnesota with just three second chance points
in this game as well.
Jemski got another one.
Again, playing into a crowd.
And but Jemski lays it in.
Three straight layups and Chris Finch
wants to talk it over.
Two minutes into the second half.
So what he saw in the first half
when the Wolves got down 14 to two to begin this game.
Six oh Golden State, James McDaniels
hits his first shot of the night.
Jemski for green, now Curry.
Underneath, Curry got away from Rudy
and the reverse layup is good.
Runs it up, missed it long
and Draymond Green has got the rebound.
Curry to Moody in the corner, three ball is good.
Randall to Faye, got it.
They get that corner three point shooter
down there so quickly.
But Jemski has had the hot hand here in the third quarter.
Turnover, green, out to Moody,
he'll take a run on Rudy up off glass.
Oh, Draymond the tip.
Boy, it looked like that thing was on the rim.
We've been making Minnesota shoot those floaters
outside the restricted area.
It's been difficult for Minnesota
to make those shots so far tonight.
Curry in the paint, rattles in.
It's almost like Draymond does it so much
you can't call it every time.
Yeah, that's exactly right.
Edwards the cross over, the hand,
oh the hit and Draymond just goes down.
It's because they change ends so fast.
They get the ball to go to the floor,
they can sprint those shooters to the corner
and they're hard to guard.
Santos, the hesitation, then the lay in.
11 point Warriors lead, that one's thrown away.
Randall against Post, he'll take him inside to the rim
and that's a man's finish.
Melton, out of Curry.
Richard stepped back on the three and he hits it.
Melton on the attack.
Post, straight away on the three.
Post, as I mentioned, 46 games,
the champs get played every game.
It's 31 starts, so he's in one of their preferred lineups
and that's 31 starts for him.
And fades in the free throw line and answers back.
Richard pulls up on the straightaway three.
Santos, offensive rebound comes right to him
and an easy lay in.
Free throw rate.
Santos, got tripped up and then tripped Nasri.
Sets up Will Richard in the corner
and knocks down another three.
Bowe Tyler calling it out.
Buddy, got the touch off the rim for two.
From the officials.
Healed on the run, got the lay in.
Boy, that's a tough two over Nasri.
Post to Pajewski.
Santos steps back on a corner three and drains it.
And a three point shooting to not.
They have executed an excellent game plan against Minnesota.
They have done everything they wanted to do
as well as get somebody up there.
Second field goal for Bones.
Three seconds left and the Warriors turn it over.
Warriors finish that third quarter
with a 19 to four burst.
Randall against Green.
Kick out DiVincenzo.
Three, got it.
Six main threes in 11 tries.
Close moment against the Portland Trail Blazers
because of a wet floor.
Ice underneath and it's a humid day.
Three ball.
That's when you're going in the wrong direction
and you gotta stop that somehow.
Coach needs to tell him about that.
Last four games for Bones, he has struggled
as has much of the bench.
Curry gets the lay-in inside.
Pass come off the official.
Yes, it did.
Pretty sure Alan Horton had it.
I don't know that I did.
Dante.
No.
Edwards.
Look, he's out all night and he knocks it down.
After we play the Warriors tomorrow,
you see that down in Dallas.
So, the flag is playing very well.
Washington began against the Warriors
and it was fantastic as well.
About appreciating Curry and the level he's played at.
It's just, especially with the way he plays,
his hand hits another one.
Whether it's the cold times
and all of the heat that they have to go through
as Al Horford had.
Ants sealed that time.
Hideous stuff they have to do.
That is just, I'm telling you,
people don't really appreciate his looks.
They get to go run out here.
Should already follow, so he should be in good shape.
I'm gonna put, well, what are you gonna do?
What are you gonna put the TV on here at World's Radio?
Impressive that Al Horford,
still going in his 19th year.
The only player I've ever seen.
Turnover on the Timberwolves will be their 25th.
Clark, in and out.
Aaron Jay dives to the floor.
Hand off to Clark.
Joe Ingles, catch and shoot.
Yes!
You know, just about his success.
He hit that streak back in December
where he had those great games
and he played well for the Warriors.
It was all about Pat Spencer at that time.
He was talking all that smack,
remember all the shots he was making?
Yeah.
Awesome, and then that second game was excellent too.
Chris Finch and Steve Kerr
are gonna greet each other in half court there.
Both those guys were remarkable
in their pre-game press conferences
and speaking about the events that have unfolded
here in the Twin Cities over the weekend.
There's great respect between those two.
The horn sounds here at Target.
Center of the Warriors have taken
the first beating of the two.
