On a compact lot in Bali, Villa Sipat and Sao emerges.
A pool villa designed by Arcana Architects to function both as a home and as a rental retreat.
The goal was to create a warm, intimate space with a true sense of home,
emphasizing light, texture, and human scale.
The facade uses glass blocks to filter light,
provide privacy, and create a soft glow at dusk.
Unlike the imagery of exuberant tropical villas,
this architecture is restrained, precise, and quietly expressive.
Entry is through a small glass block foyer,
open to the sky, where light and ventilation create a poetic welcome.
Instead of a formal living room,
visitors arrive directly into a kitchen with a simple island,
reinforcing the domestic character and everyday atmosphere of the design.
From there, the spaces flow gracefully.
Kitchen, dining, and living areas connect through a translucent partition of wood and fluted glass,
which defines without isolating and keeps the interior luminous.
The interior palette is composed of wood, glass, and simple finishes,
creating a serene environment with softly illuminated volumes and a warm atmosphere.
Every space was designed to balance openness and privacy, sociability, and retreat.
Even as a rental property, the villa maintains the dignity and comfort of a true residence,
proving that simplicity, coherence, and sensitivity can create an experience
far more sophisticated than ostentatious luxury.
At the center of the ground floor, the courtyard with a pool
organizes the entire experience of the house.
It brings cross-ventilation, natural light, and a constant connection between indoors and outdoors.
A staircase positioned beside the pool leads to the upper level,
reinforcing the courtyard as the heart of the villa.
Villa Sipat and Sao shows that good architecture is born from attention to everyday life,
care for materials, and the pursuit of an authentic living experience.
It is a compact, light, and essential refuge
where everything is organized around light, water, and tranquility.
