Jason Statham plays a guy keeping a low profile then when MI6 comes after him we find out hey
that guy's a retired badass. I really like seeing Jason Statham step outside the box
taking on new roles and such.
So Shelter is directed by Rick Roman-Wa which is kind of crazy he just directed Greenland 2. Dude
has two January movies in the same year it's kind of wild. So Shelter is no need to retread
it's exactly how I described in the intro of this video. But for the sake of elaborating this guy
and his niece drop off supplies to a Jason Statham's character. Then a big green screen
CGI storm hits. I know how else would they do it really? Think this girl's going to be trapped in
an actual storm? No. I mean 1980s James Cameron would have had it go down that way but no not
in 2025. Point is her uncle gets killed she's kind of stranded with him but he can't go to
authorities otherwise. Folks out there who might want him dead try to kill him and her. But with
help of MI6's AI algorithm that's exactly what happens he gets found out now they're on the run.
He's trying to get her too that's right. Shelter. It's another beginning of the year Jason Statham
film. In fact just for shits and giggles on my phone I typed in Jason Statham movie in which
he tries to get a little girl to safety. The AI algorithm robot was like oh you mean safe from
2012 obviously. Frankenstein being a conversation this year it's only fitting that this movie is
the second biggest Frankenstein adaptation I've seen in concept anyway. That this is a
Frankenstitched Jason Statham film taken from other Jason Statham films with a little bit of
born identity thrown in there. A little bit of enemy of the state. You know these Jason Statham
movies feel like at this point? It's like in Disneyland kids can build their own lightsabers
out of parts you know they just kind of like oh it's it's my personalized lightsaber. They still
do that whatever. Point is it all feels personalized but it is taken from other parts
of other lightsaber parts and it's going to feel familiar when that kid sees another kid with the
same hilt. But you know some parts are different but not enough to say it's completely different.
I mean the functions at least going to be the same. Every early in the year Jason Statham film
released every year ever. It's indistinguishable from any other Jason Statham film that you've
seen in the past decade and a half. You know what I at this point I kind of don't care.
It's safe it's familiar but if it sticks the landing **** it. This movie I mean mostly does
I guess. It's a bit slow on the upstart no doubt there. In fact one of the biggest flaws of this
movie is you can't help but look back and be like hey it was really slow building up and
this movie's nearly two hours long. Does not need to be that. Dude it's a January Jason Statham
action film stitched together from other Jason Statham action films. 90 minutes in the pocket
in and out. I'm making nearly two hours that's just ridiculous. Bill Nye's in this movie. Like
not the science guy but you know. I feel like even he has the sense of like I don't know why I'm here
they paid my rate there's that. He at least feels like he's having fun with it though. That is great
to hear him say that. That moment he realizes it's Statham. He's all oh **** absolute cinema.
Doesn't change the fact it feels like it was one day of filming easy paycheck January movie. When
the action's going down you can't deny Statham's effective at what he does. When you have a guy
with a knife coming after Statham and Statham in response picks up a busted piece of chair leg
that has a pointy end to it you're like that's kind of what I'm here for. It's effective it's
badass at times and it's completely unnecessary to have a video prattling on too long about it.
Let's wrap this baby up. This is one of those scenarios if you got the feeling you knew what
this movie was based on the trailer you're right and if that's your jam here you go again. However
at this point it might be getting too familiar for some folks like I gotta stand here and be like so
should you pay 10 bucks or more per person to see it in the theaters? You know you better than I
know you if these yearly Statham films haven't worn out their welcome with you thus far. For my
money I would say it's worth checking out when it comes out on streaming. Some of the dialogue's a
bit like yeah right I mean who doesn't like a script that feels like it was based off of
a stitching of hallmark cards. Alright so I almost called this working man then I was like no it's
shelter no it's what right shelter have you seen it what did you think about it or what's your
favorite Jason Statham action film? Whatever it is whatever you think comment below let me know
and as always if you like what you're seeing here and you want to see more click right here to see more.
