How do I start it again?
Where's the start button again?
Oh, we start it.
Oh, you start it.
That's easier.
This sounds dangerous.
It wasn't my idea, but I'm pumped to watch you guys.
Scott Speed here.
We are in the south of Australia at The Bend.
We got the Flying Kiwi, Brennan Harley here.
Two Aussie V8 supercar legends, Brock Beeney and Will Brown.
And they're going to get to drive a Formula 1 car today.
I'm pretty excited for this one.
I never thought I'd get this opportunity, to be honest.
So we're going to give you guys five laps each
to see how fast you can go in the Formula 1 car.
I'm freaking out a little bit now.
I was excited until you put that pressure on,
but it's going to be cool.
All right, time to set some baselines
in your natural environment here in this beast
just to make sure everything is copacetic.
I'm going to ride shotgun.
Ready.
Let's go.
One lap flyer, is that it?
One lap.
It's literally shootout.
The gear ratio is just hard in the limiter on 6th.
Yeah, he's doing good.
1.37.23.
No idea if that's any good, but we're going to find out soon.
We are.
All right, that's baselines done in the V8 supercar.
I think rock, paper, scissors.
Who goes first?
Whoever wins goes second.
Scissors, paper, rock.
Ah, gotcha!
He's looking more nervous.
Yeah.
Get these guys in the F1 car.
I'm going to coach them up a little bit.
I think you're ready to send it.
Let's do it.
All right, guys.
Check out your whip here.
It's also a V8.
So, yeah, same thing, right?
Feel at home, then.
This one revs to like 18,000, though.
Probably half the weight of your car
and quadruple the downforce.
Yeah.
I don't know how this would last
at Gold Coast jumping the curbs, but...
Should we get one of you boys in there, have a look?
Yeah, let's jump in it.
You're up, Brock.
Ah, I like it.
F***ing nervous.
Any last tips?
Always positive on the throttle.
The clutch map is shallow, quite steep,
then shallow.
Yep.
Radio's fairly line of sight,
so I'll only talk to you
as you're going down the pit straight.
Cool, yeah, no worries.
And you'll call me in or wave me in.
Go have fun, man.
Yeah.
Enjoy this.
We've prepared Brock as best we can.
Now it's time to show up.
Feeling pretty real about now.
F***ing mate, it's small in here.
Jesus Christ.
Now's not the time to say that.
F***ing mate.
Don't go too fast,
because then I've got to go fast.
Who you got your money on?
I got my money on Will.
What about Brock?
All right, hey, don't let me down.
Radio check, Brock?
Yeah, I got your back.
Oh, here we go.
Is he going to have any stall?
All right, Brock.
No pressure, buddy, you got this.
Stopwatch this time, bye.
Crazy.
That looked deep.
Looked deep.
Dude, that looked pretty dang good.
Oh, he's putting pressure on me, yeah.
Back through the kinks, first lap.
Through the kinks, I don't want to.
1.11.3
It's only 20-odd seconds faster than your lap, mate.
He is way more nervous watching now.
Oh, that sounds too fast.
Lap time here, but it's pretty impressive.
That's it.
To be honest, no pressure.
He looks fast, so I'm nervous.
I feel the pressure.
Oh, he's going again.
He's like, yeah, I know, I'm just cutting laps.
Well, I swear we said five laps.
He's at least up to seven.
Donuts on the end lap as well, right?
Yeah, he just is screaming.
This is not a boxing lap.
Did you unplug your radio?
No, it's just so quiet.
They said box like six times.
You did like three extra laps.
Oh, awesome.
Yeah.
You've got to lean against the back.
Otherwise, I'm just like, my head's just like,
when it's not through some corners,
I'm just like going crazy.
I might put my thing on then.
Where do I start it again?
Say that again?
Where's the start button again?
Oh, we start it.
Oh, you start it.
That's easier.
What else can I stuff up in here?
I feel pretty real about now.
I was so stoked I didn't stall it.
So hopefully, he can get away fine.
But there's just so many buttons and stuff
that you've got to do.
One Brock, zero Will so far.
He shouts dinner tonight.
What's happened so far?
He stalled it and he's locked up the brakes
already in the first corner.
A lot slower than his first lap.
It's face pumping me up.
That was pretty good.
Yeah, that's all right.
OK, his first lap was about one second slower
than Brock's first lap.
Lap two there is within a second now of Brock.
It's close.
An announcement.
The old track record at the bend
was a 1.15.4.
One of you guys ran a 1.07.9
and one of you ran a 1.06.6.
Which one do you think it was?
Brock got it.
The new track record, 1.06.6.
At least you got a little cherry on top of the weekend.
Yeah, I'll take that.
I needed that.
Well, that's a wrap.
The car is in one piece.
Thank goodness.
So that means we get to do it again one day.
