218 yards today, this par three, not too far away from the water.
He's another big hitter.
Sounds of him saying go is this is online.
Oh, is it ever?
Oh, how is that missed?
I don't believe it.
You were talking about.
Oh, no, sit, sit, sit.
Oh, there you go.
That'll make it sit in a hurry.
Very accurate.
Gets his bonus.
Oh, he's saying sit as well.
We'll sit for sure.
That's two excellent shots, very different ways of playing them.
But two good results.
I don't know again, is it?
It has, you know.
Oh, this is difficult.
All you can see is water in the background.
It's quite a long shot.
Oh, he's played it well.
Stop it.
Oh, there you go.
Thank you very much.
The difficult eighth, maybe not so difficult.
Hardest hole on the course today.
And that is the first birdie.
Olvera, hair up hill, but not much.
Big test and he's up for it.
He's leading the putts in greens and regulation.
I'd say the contact was just about perfect.
The most unlikely of birdie strees.
Players faces this third green.
Sensational around the greens this week, Larry.
And that's another cracker.
Lovely swing of Torbjörn Olesen.
Can he find the top shelf?
Oh, he can.
It's a wonderful iron shot.
Dan Grain, which is helpful when it lands.
Just shunt them all forward.
Just read it like a putt.
It's perfection, time after time this week.
Penalty areas nowadays, it's just a bunker shot here then.
And it's an excellent effort.
I think this is needed just to keep that nice run going.
It's got it rolling.
Ten under, Nacho Olvera.
Two birdies in the first four holes.
McElroy putting for par again.
Not this time.
Well, that's gold dust, isn't it?
On a Sunday when you're in contention,
your playing partner's got a really tough par putt and you rock one in.
Olvera, his second.
Further enhances chances.
Well, he's playing the best.
That's why he's leading.
That is two terrific shots here on seven.
Yeah, looks like he's aiming absolutely dead at it.
Oh, no, maybe about three to four inches outside left.
He coax it down.
Oh, well done.
There's no give up in this guy.
Now he's got the par five tenth coming up.
Can he get an eagle?
All of a sudden, he'd be back in amongst them.
Just off the right.
They're the ones, aren't they, on a Sunday?
Now, Rory set this gallery alight with this one right to left up the hill.
It's a nice putt, but not what he needed.
Coming downwind,
trying to land about 20 feet short and hope for a little release.
Always back up a badden with a gooden, and that's exactly what he's done.
Now it's an outside chance of a birdie.
Master at work there.
And he's done well.
Could be tied for the lead in a minute.
Well, well, well, almost inevitable with his talent
that he'll find a way to push his way back into the conversation.
Second of the par five, 13th off an absolute dangerous shot, this one
right in amongst them holds that he'll be within a shot.
Has he hit that so far in the toe?
It's gone straight, right, because that was a complete whiff.
He won't hit a worse shot this year.
Just a wedge.
He's right, the flag is left.
Just trying to poke it up there and release it back to it.
I told you all earlier, he comes to your house,
he'll open your fridge, you'll drink all your beer and he won't go home all night.
Eagle try for Hellier to get within one.
Kiwi's right in it now.
If he wants to dribble it uphill, which I'd be surprised if he does just outside.
For one of these days, we're going to learn.
You write him off, even as good as we know he is,
you think it's too much now, not enough time and too much to do.
And yet there he is.
He's one off the late 12.
Not a little tear.
It's a little pocket at the back left here.
This one is the pace. It's looking all right.
It's looking better than all right.
The juices are flowing once more.
That's more like it.
Little slope behind it as well.
Well, this is difficult for Elvira.
He's got nothing here at all.
He's going for this.
He's going to aim right and try and hook it.
No stance whatsoever.
Lie is good.
Tell you what, he made wicked contact.
Oh, he done really well there.
That's brilliant.
Spaniards just hit shots like that.
We've seen it over the years.
A little bit of genius in those hands.
Makes another one.
Five birdies in a row for Rory McIlroy.
Who climbs alongside Nacho Elvira at the top.
Oh, Dominic, how does he hold that?
Right from the very front of the the green.
All around the hole.
And hell yeah, it's a minus nine.
Don't let me down, Shane.
Come on, down you come, down you come.
Just outside three feet, but a lovely shot.
Evans to lurker tree.
Yes, of course.
There you go.
Five tied at the top.
As you said, Laura, middle of the green.
Not like that, like a pure swing.
It's a great strike.
Oh, I thought he was happy with it.
It looks like he was happy with it.
He's mystified, isn't he?
Shane was disgusted with his second shot, but this is an outside chance.
Straight from this point.
Go on, reach.
Oh, and in she goes.
Shane's put himself atop the leaderboard.
Can he stay there?
Looks good for pace, looks good for line.
What an excellent effort again from McElroy.
The birdie to post at ten under.
Well, he got it to the hole.
Trying to bring it in from that camera tower.
Near bars.
Yeah, it's good.
You've got to hit it.
Oh, he would have fancied that halfway.
Didn't see that coming.
Through a bit of fringe grass.
Change of grain.
He's hit.
There you go. There's another one.
He's not.
Reach.
Oh, he held her breath.
We knew what he was capable of.
We'll go back to 17 now.
Villa is second.
Oh, it'll draw to 12 feet.
Great shot.
Right back in it.
Hold on. Sit down.
Would you believe it to get to ten under?
Seizes the moment.
Now the pendulum swings again.
Some of the best you can hope for is minus eight.
Two for the title.
38 year old Spaniard.
Two wins to date on the DP World Tour.
But when he looks at the names behind him on the leaderboard here,
this will be the biggest of those three, no doubt about it.
Excellent.
Well done, Nacho.
Second Spanish winner of the Steven.
David Puig, one down in Australia.
And now it is Nacho Alvira,
who has come back from a mid round wobble to win the Dubai Invitational.
Oh, what a terrific moment there.
Yeah, Nacho, you put your family through it, through the ringer.
Confirming that one stroke victory for the man from Madrid.
Shane Lowry will have to try if he can somehow
just to move on quickly from here and not dwell too much on it.
Nacho, many, many congratulations.
Dubai Invitational Champion 2026 on such a dramatic afternoon.
What does it mean to you to come out on top?
Well, it means the world.
I mean, you tell me on Tuesday, like I said all week
that I'm going to be winning this and I mean, I would have never believed you.
It's a dream come true, especially having, you know, the family here.
It's it's I mean, I always dream with my kids
walking up to me with a with a win.
And this is just I mean, anything happened
after this is it's just nothing compared to this.
You started the day two shots clear.
You played beautifully for the first seven or eight holes and got three shots clear.
But then bogeyed eight, bogeyed nine, hit a pretty poor shot into ten
into the water and made an incredible par.
How big was that pop up?
I guess I mean, I'm going to blame this on my caddy.
It was all his fault.
It's all his fault.
But no, yeah, I mean, I got to, you know, I knew I was going to
at some point is going to become difficult, like, you know,
especially with the great players that were playing just in front of me.
And I just managed somehow to make a par on ten,
managed somehow to make a par on eleven.
And then I guess I come down a little bit after this
and, you know, try to stay patient.
I knew I knew I was going to fight and I was very lucky to make a birdie on 17.
The middle of the back nine, there's a five way tie for the lead,
including Rory McIlroy, who's on an incredible charge of five birdies in a row.
Shane Larry is chasing you.
Hilly is playing beautifully ahead of you.
What is going through your mind emotionally and and physically
as you're going down those holes, knowing all that is going on behind you?
To be honest, I wasn't nervous until the very last part.
The two, the one footer that I had for for the win.
I mean, I knew what I had to do.
I knew I needed to be patient.
I needed to be, you know, I felt like of the tea.
I was playing really well.
There's a couple of teachers here that they're very difficult to me.
I mean, to everybody, but to me, especially because I didn't feel
that my swing was 100 percent this week.
But I mean, I managed a battle through those and I was able to take advantage
of the ones that I hit.
Well, this victory takes you to third in the race to Dubai.
The last three years you finished between 38th and 49th.
You seem stuck in the rut there.
Does this feel like the platform that you can build on to break out of that
and show us what a great player you really are?
Well, definitely is going to help a lot.
It's going to help a lot to to plan the year to to for the first time,
maybe in 13 years, to be a little bit of a head of a head start and built on that.
I think there's so many positives from this week.
And I mean, I couldn't be more happy.
My wife, Christina and the children here as well.
An incredibly special. How would you celebrate?
I mean, perhaps, you know, very early dinner and put into bed quick.
But I mean, I don't know.
This is a dream come true to have my wife and my kids.
Yes, it's something that I've dreamed of a lot of times.
And I cannot believe this happened.
Many, many congratulations. Fantastic plan today. Well done.
Thank you very much. Thanks.
