Struggling to study while fasting? Feeling exhausted but still want to be productive? In this video bestie, I’ll show you how to study during Ramadan, even when you’re tired, hungry, and dealing with distractions.
We’ll cover how to study when fasting without burning out, the best time to study during Ramadan, how to stop procrastinating when all you want to do is nap, how to focus when your family is noisy (especially in an Asian household!), how to study efficiently so you get more done in less time, and how to wake up early for Sahur and actually study 😙
Plus, I’ll share my personal experience growing up in Malaysia (a Muslim country) and how my Muslim friends and I used to study during Ramadan, especially when exams were right around the corner.
I have immense respect for everyone observing fasting during Ramadan because it's truly
not easy—waking up so early for sahur and then fasting all day without food or water
but still striving to stay productive and maintain a healthy daily routine
So in this video we'll go through the ultimate study guide for Ramadan—how to study when you're feeling
tired how to structure your study sessions around fasting and how to stay focused and productive
productive even when you're exhausted and how to avoid procrastination when all you want to do is nap
—including what to do when your family is noisy and won't leave you alone despite needing quiet time
First deciding when to study When I asked you on Instagram most of you said that you prefer to
study either in the morning or at night but the best approach is to do both—there’s a
strategy to it Whether you're a morning person or a night owl will determine the kind of
e kind of work you should be focusing on during those times A really easy way bestie to figure out
when you work best is simply by identifying your chronotype There are actually four sleep chronotypes so
There's the bear the lion the wolf and the dolphin and each has a different peak energy period
Your chronotype will determine your most productive times when your mood is naturally at its best
elevated and the optimal times for eating sleeping and studying I'll leave the link to the quiz tha
I took personally the description box below so that's the first thing I want you to do
bestie after you finish watching this video because once you've identified your chronotype
It's time to structure your perfect study session for maximum efficiency So how do you choose the
right tasks for your study sessions based on your energy levels Your peak productivity periods
which will vary based on your chronotype should be dedicated to high-focus tasks while
low-energy periods should be reserved for less demanding work Examples of high-difficulty
asks include working through past exam papers tackling complex problem solving essay writing exam
revision deep learning and memorization That means if your peak productivity periods are in the
In the morning you should be doing these tasks after Subuh but if you're a night person
you'd be doing them after Ishak This includes subjects like mathematics or sciences or any
a subject that demands intense focus and a lot of mental effort and if you have a weak subjec
The best time to work on something you truly want to improve is now I used to struggle a lot
with math I just don't connect numbers never made sense to me so what I'd do is I'd wake up
waking up at 4 a m every single morning before school starts to complete two past year papers and I actually
Progressed from earning C's to achieving distinction in A-levels Now what kind of tasks do you handle during your downtime
Energy period For my night owls that's after Subuh and for my early birds this is after Isha
This is the time for you to write notes review them complete homework and do quick flashcard revision
reading Tasks that don't require much mental effort I really enjoy using my low energy time for
periods to review the information I memorized during my high-energy times But if you want my hones
onest advice bestie—use this time during Ramadan to reset your body clock and
become more of a morning person Why Because classes and exams are held in the morning
raining yourself to stay more alert during those times will greatly enhance your performance and
boost your grades so if you've ever wanted to fix your sleep schedule now is the perfect time
o do it and if you want more tips on how to become a morning person you can check out my
video here Like this video and subscribe if you're enjoying it so far But if you're feeling
exhausted especially during Ramadan which is completely understandable the best way to be
being productive with minimal effort comes from transforming your phone from a distraction into a tool I 've
talked about this before but you don't even need to get out of bed—just switch to a more focused mode
productive app You can learn languages or play chess but personally I'm not interested in
those so I use an app called Brilliant instead I've been recommending this app for the pas
ree years but basically it turns any complicated STEM subject like engineering
programming AI and computer science into game-like fun bite-sized lessons
It seriously looks like a game but you're actually learning something I'm pretty sure Brilliant
just updated their math courses so now the additional content will focus more on problem-solving
problem solving and logical reasoning so if that's what you're interested in My favorite areas of course
are the science courses where you learn how to think like an engineer and develop your scientific mindset
uition but honestly it's just a really effective way to figure out whether that's something you truly want to pursue
at university You can actually try Brilliant for free for 30 days by scanning this QR code tha

e same link Next how to maximize your productivity When we're tired we won't be able to
finish everything on our to-do list and that's okay And so what should you prioritize when your
energy is low We're going to use something called the "eat the frog" technique I have no idea why they call it that but it works
chose frog but let's just go with it Basically Bestie you'll start your study session by tackling
e hardest and most challenging task first For example if you have a project deadline an upcoming
whether it's an exam or a long essay to write that will be your frog Again why a frog People will tell you to tackle this task head-on
because it builds momentum and gets the hardest task out of the way but I'm going to tell
you that the more important benefit is the flexibility it gives you—if you're a morning perso
and if you don't finish your task you still have the rest of the day to complete it If you're a night person
person you can get most of the work done before midnight and wrap it up in the
energy I say this from experience because in Malaysia Ramadan almost always falls during
exam season which is really unfortunate So me and my friends remember how I used to fast with them
just to give them support We found out that tackling the hardest work first makes a huge difference
difference When you're tired you can slip into the trap or the habit of pushing things like
revising or memorizing the same material day after day because you're too exhausted to keep going Let
me know in the comments if you're also battling this bestie So instead of pushing through with them
when you feel like it just tell yourself to tackle the difficult tasks first and then you ca

This channel please don't skip the ad Thank you But how do you shorten your study
sessions Here's the trick to actually getting work done efficiently and cut your study time
Whatever amount of time you think you need to complete a task halve it
If you think you need two hours to finish your notes give yourself just one hour instead Instead of dragging
after an eight-hour study session you accomplish the same amount of work in just four hours And wha
What do you do with that extra time You can either use it to rest and recharge or shift it to the morning
or night to perfect the work you just completed Remember what I said in my guide on how to be a perfec
student video You might tell me um if I spent half the time taking notes it would
look like something a chicken scribbled or if I spent half the time revising I’d probably get it all rig
e questions on a past year paper were incorrect and that is entirely true However if you don't get stuff
done you don't know how to improve If you're looking for an in-depth exploration of numerous advanced study strategies
will turn you into a top student and then you can check out my video here Next what if my family
s noisy Can you tell that I'm Southeast Asian Because Southeast Asians know what it's like to struggle with that
comes to having a noisy family During Ramadan I know many of you will struggle to get work
done because your family is all awake and your kids—your siblings I mean—are bothering you
You’ve got one ear full of your own thoughts and your parents nagging you in the other so here are a few small changes
at can make a world of difference—try putting on headphones and listening to white noise
or brown noise YouTube offers many options and I've found this to be less disruptive
More distracting than actual music Or you can listen to lo-fi So I already have two studying with me
Sessions posted online I'll film more—I hear you—I'll leave them in the description box below
You can put that on and feel like you're studying with me in the library instead of a distracting environment
environment But if your family is noisy no matter what what my friend did was that she tried to ge
as much work completed at school or elsewhere before she got home So during lunchtime since she can'
she'll sit with us and do her work either instead of or between classes while waiting for the teacher
and sometimes she’ll even stay in the library before heading home If all else fails bestie jus
embrace it Embrace the chaos and learn to thrive in a noisy environment You'll develop an extraordinary ability to focus and perform under pressure
e ability to focus anywhere—something that’s by the way a superpower—will truly help you during exams
workplaces or just life in general If you've made it this far into the video comment below
