never thought i'd wake up to kangaroos outside my window, or be in a market that has milk on tap, or baby sea lions snoozing under the stairs, but that's some of the many highlights from this stacked 3 day itinerary in the beautiful place that is south australia. adelaide and kangaroo island, i am so coming back.
Hello! I am back from Adelaide. I actually just wrapped up the edit for
this vlog. Basically 100 hours of excitement.
But before you get started, I just want to give a little bit of context
for this trip. So a lot of you know I travel a lot
and I've always been a longtime United Frequent Flyer.
So when they reached out and extended me an invite to go on their first ever
non-stop flight from San Francisco to Adelaide,
I immediately said yes. And let me tell you, they pull out
all the stops for these inaugural flights. This is my first time being on
one. It's also my first time being in Australia since like 25 years ago, so
of course I had to capture everything as best as I could to share with you all.
Very, very excited for you to come along for the ride.
But shout out to United again. Thank you for giving me this crazy experience
and I hope you enjoy!
So killing some time now through this little private event they have going on.
It's so exciting to be part of this.
Thank you!
Over to the gate. This is like kind of a pretty big deal because this is the
inaugural flight from San Francisco to Adelaide. I think United is the only
carrier that does this route. So there's like all these celebrations
which is pretty insane to be a part of.
There's like literally all this signage along the way.
There's more! Holy moly.
I'm really excited when we saw Lavington South.
Look at how cute this is! A little teddy bear.
This is so, this is so cute.
Basically every single seat has the same set.
My home for the next 16 hours.
Getting ready for good night's sleep. This is so, this is so adorable.
This is the cutest thing ever. I have never seen.
It's like the coolest experience ever honestly.
The pilot just came by to say hello. This is so cute.
These are all computerized. These are all multi-function display screens.
Up here is our pressurization and our heater. Electrical system,
hydraulic system, window heaters. It's like driving a car.
Is it? So you start little and you learn okay gas pedals and then you go oh that's
how you operate the heater. That's how you operate the radio.
I honestly don't even know what's going on anymore. So many cool
experiences happening right now. Got you. Thank you.
Do you have your onboard receipt?
15 hours and 15 minutes. Flight time 1515.
What to get?
Lobster looks good.
So cool.
Thank you for flying with our journey today.
We look forward to seeing you again very soon.
Hello we are officially in Adelaide. I am at the hotel room and freshly showered after
an extremely long flight. A really great flight. Always feels good to be refreshed again
and now I pretty much only have 10 minutes before we're going on this market tour at the
Adelaide Central Market. There's supposed to be a huge variety of foods and different produce and
all this stuff so I did make a little more coffee just in case. Actually very excited to
finally try the coffee here in Australia. Probably will have more later today but I'm
so excited to be here. It's actually really funny that I keep looking out the window because there's
a Christmas market right here outside and I just think it's so funny that Christmas is warm here.
So excited to finally be here in Australia again. It's going to be a very eventful couple of days.
There's so much to explore.
Adelaide Central Market, just as a bit of history, has been around some really cool
cafes for people that buy the glass in lactose-free or loyal fat.
She came from Normandy and or pizza so it was a very new concept back then.
When in Australia I must have a bunch of coffee. Wait that's summer? Oh it's summer. I was like
wait that's a summer special and then I forgot where I was. Thank you. Thank you so much.
Came back here because everyone said this is the one to try. The lines are huge.
It literally is salivating right now.
Back at the hotel and there it is. My haul. Candy and fig syrup.
Once again I have changed. This is going to be for the inaugural ceremony today.
Officially celebrate I guess this first ever inaugural flight from San Francisco to Adelaide
which is super exciting, super fancy. So I'm trying to dress for the occasion.
Give me lots of wine. It's gonna be a good time. Let's go!
Good morning! I got up way earlier than I thought I was going to so we're gonna go
have breakfast but I wanted to see if I could just maybe find a cute cafe somewhere.
Just go check it out real quick. Maybe grab a flat white or something.
Excited to be here in Kangaroo Island. There's a lot of
wildlife here. There's a lot of farms here. Wine. Just this jet lag.
Going through this little pathway where it's literally it's like a secret tunnel
and it keeps going out onto the beach.
Just apparently so full that it's just eating and then napping on the beach so they're all just
like super chill. Presents! And is that a cricket bat? I think he's holding a cricket bat and it
and there's a bathtub out there and also this is the view where hopefully there's gonna be
lots of kangaroos tonight. This place is so beautiful.
Just did a little walk around the property. We're basically just in the middle of nature.
Totally off the grid too so this place is amazing. Just a phenomenal view of the sun setting.
While I'm waiting though there is a bunch of food that they kind of already prepped
in the fridge so I thought it'd be nice to see what we have. Reheat it up. Plate it up.
You know have fun with it. I think I might actually be able to make a charcuterie board.
Great way to enjoy the beauty of Kangaroo Island in this beautiful place.
Kangaroos are just right there staring at us.
Cheers! Kind of crazy that they're just right there.
The sunrise this morning was so beautiful. Oh my gosh this is something about waking up early
and just you know standing there quietly watching the world wake up. I feel like I haven't
felt it like this for a long time. Oh my god there is a kangaroo right here.
I feel like there's just something so healing for the soul to be out here like this and
I love it here. It's just amazing. And now I'm back at the house, the residence. We're gonna be
checking out a bunch of locally owned businesses today so I'm very excited for that. It's a lot
of food businesses. This is my favorite part of travel, you already know that so
it's gonna be a good time. It smells so nice.
I had to get the lavender skull because it is massive. It's like this cute little family-owned
lavender farm. Oh my gosh, you can actually see all the lavender bits in there too.
The birds are right next to me. Everyone wants a little bit. They are all congregating.
They're all waiting for the skulls.
Oh I'm buttery. So good.
When we put the oysters in we either have them down low or up high.
Where you have them situated in the water depends on what you want to do with them. When they're down
low they fatten up and when they're up high it cleans the shell up and makes the shell harder.
That's what we put our oysters in when they're down deep and then when we're on the shallow
lines that's what they go in. And as the tide comes up they rumble around like that and it
cleans the shell up. They're pretty here. Oh my gosh. They fished this morning? Yes.
Back to New York tomorrow but this is so wonderful. Thank you South Australia. Thank you
United for letting me have this incredible experience. What a beautiful place. You see the mom
and her joeys just right there behind us. I'm so glad I finally made it out here. Hopefully I will
be back soon. See you soon.
