Hello and welcome to Vietnam. Right now I'm in Vung Tau, a little beach town which has a lake.
I didn't know this until Shelby told me this morning. So I'm going down here,
kind of like this little local vibe. I have some construction here but it looked like on Google
Maps there were some restaurants here but when I did the street view I could not see how to enter
it. So I'm hoping up here there is some food to be had. Look at this monster.
Is this to move a bunch of water somewhere? They have some tubing and everything in this lake here
for whatever reason. All right, look we're running into some food right now.
Hello, xin chào. Okay. Hello, how are you today?
Thank you.
Well here looks like the little menu. Do I sit over there? Yeah, I'll do a long vid
xào mì. Yeah, one of those.
The long vid, yeah, xào mì. And then the seating here? The same restaurant, same thing? Okay.
50. This one?
It's 70 now? The 50 one.
Yeah, 50. Okay, perfect. All right.
Hey guys.
Busy little establishment here. Hello, xin chào.
They got a shrine sitting right here. Pretty cool vibe.
This looks a lot different than Google Street View so I don't know how
updated the view is because like when you look all around this lake here it was kind of just
like that closed off fence you saw as I was walking here. But like they got the beautiful
garden, the kitchen's over here, all the little guard dogs everywhere, washroom around the corner.
It is the weekend right now so everyone's probably off enjoying, having beverages, chilling out.
Oh, some sauce. We just got a dark chili sauce here.
Spicy chilies. Thank you.
Perfect. So what do we got here? It looks like some sort of intestines or something.
We have that, some chives. Really I'm not going to be able to tell you until I start eating but
it just looks like some instant noodle kind of noodles with some sort of mystery meat with chives.
I got a dark sauce with chili to pour on it. Let's give these noodles a taste.
Oh wow. They actually have some crunch. Hello. How are you today? Very good.
Thank you. We got some meat right here. Let's see.
Kind of has a livery type of taste.
So let's cover up some of that. This liver's not my favorite.
I don't know though. It doesn't really look like liver. Get a few chilies on there.
But it's a strong iron mineral type of flavor going on there.
The noodles are really good too. They're just like, it's really nice, salted,
not too overpowering seasoning.
Oh wow. That meat is funky.
Maybe when I head over to this little place I'll have to
try and google translate what I ordered. Some sort of stir-fried noodle.
If I'm not mistaken.
What am I eating here? What is this? Very delicious.
What's this?
Ah, that's how you start. Perfect. Ready to go.
That's funny. That guy literally just used a wire to start his bike. Didn't even use the key or
anything. Huh. Super friendly locals here. They're very inquisitive.
I almost thought he did a circle there and was coming back around.
I was about to say, one of these pieces of meat kind of looked like a piece of heart or something.
How's the chew of it? I wonder if this is like a mix mash of some sort of animal's insides.
Because some are funky and some are not. Like that heart piece was actually pretty decent.
Yeah.
Powerful green onion there when you eat that much.
I noticed the lighting was a little better after I moved the camera to show the guys.
I'm kind of sitting inside of their little parking alley here now. They have to keep
passing by me on motorbikes. Okay. Truthfully, I think the first piece I had was the most funky.
It kind of looked like a piece like this.
Yeah, whatever that is. That has to be liver or something.
Oh man.
This is a weird dish for me because I love everything. I love it all except like little
bits and pieces. Like when I get that, it's like this. It breaks down into like this muck in my
mouth.
Then you get pieces kind of like this one. It almost looks like there's a little bit of
cartilage and stuff on there or fattiness and it has more chew. It's like snappy.
Those are good.
Um, yeah, this one. I'm not too sure which one this one is. Can you tell me?
Oh, this is intestine? Yeah, so I don't know. It had like a few pieces that are really good,
but then some of the pieces are really livery. Yeah. Yeah. What are you doing today?
Actually, my mom is here. Oh, right here. Okay, cool. Oh, nice to meet you.
Yeah. So are you visiting Vietnam? Yeah. Well, I was in Ho Chi Minh City for a while and now I'm
just hanging out here for two weeks and heading back to the big city. Big city? Yeah, back to
Saigon. Oh, yeah. Actually, we live in Saigon. Do you? Are you here for the weekend or to see your
mom? Okay, yeah. That's nice. Well, thanks for letting me know what I was eating. I had no clue.
Yeah. All right, so you heard it here. We are having intestine. I don't know. That piece wasn't
bad. There were certain ones that really reminded me of liver, so I wonder if it's like a mixed mash.
Yeah, what a cool little place. Everyone's very interested. It's nice to run into an English
speaker there. But yeah, the noodles, the green onions, they're damn good, especially once you
get that soy sauce on it with chili. As you can see, I'm avoiding eating the chilies here.
Vietnamese chilies are just like next level spicy. I don't know, Thailand, I can't get enough,
but here, I'm just like, I don't know. I'm a little wary. I'll eat one and start having a
hiccup attack. See you. Bye. They're stocking up on more beers. Thank you very much. Bye.
They're very delicious. Yes. Hello, I'm Chase. Nice to meet you. What's this?
Oh, I don't drink this. Thank you though. What are you guys up to today? This? This is work? Cool.
But it's weekend, day off. Yeah. One sec. I got a translation.
Hey, buddy.
I'm not going to steal your chicken.
Vicious.
Yesterday? The other day?
I was not here yesterday. Did someone come take your picture?
No. I just, first day. Today, yeah.
Oh, is that your brother?
Oh, it wasn't me.
It wasn't me. That's funny that someone else was here with a camera.
Not me. Yeah. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Have a good day. No, it's okay. That'll
warm you right up. See you.
Perfect. A funny guy. I would have had a drink with him if I still drank, but
he's got some fire water in that thing.
So they have the skull and crossbones now. I think it's just because it's a construction site.
Yeah, I don't know. I think he thought I took a picture of him and his brother last week or
something. Maybe someone else was around here with a camera.
Yeah. So a subscriber told me to use the voice translate instead of trying to do typing.
That worked so much better. So thank you for that recommendation.
Trying to get like a Vietnamese person to type when I have like an English keyboard.
I finally got a Vietnamese keyboard, but even then, like expecting someone to type on your
phone and stuff and all those, like those words were so much quicker to speak and stuff.
All those dogs that were pretty freaking territorial. Holy.
When I first arrived here, some boys were fishing. I wonder if they have any luck.
You can see a little fish right there. Actually.
Sounds like there's some drums or something going across the lake as well.
It's crazy because it doesn't look like you can reach this lake from everywhere. Like
there's different little pathways like this, but it doesn't go all the way around.
I can explore a little bit more here, but everyone's fishing today.
Yeah. So you look right there. It gets blocked off. It almost looks like it went around.
