Today, I'm going to show you how to make an easy no-bake dessert.
It is a banana pudding.
You guys are going to love this.
The flavors are so good.
It's so simple to put together.
It is perfect in the summer or year round because this is one of the most
popular desserts for Thanksgiving. Go figure.
You guys are going to go bananas for this cake.
You see what I did there?
All right. I'm craving banana cake, not banana cake, banana pudding.
So let's get started.
We'll start with the vanilla pudding mixture in a large mixing bowl.
Add two cups of cold milk.
You can use 1% or whole milk, just whatever you have on hand.
Then add real vanilla extract.
Also add your vanilla pudding packets and make sure you're using instant
vanilla pudding, which sets up quickly and makes this recipe easy peasy.
Use an electric hand mixer to beat that together until the pudding thickens.
Where is my hairnet?
Where, where, where is my hairnet?
Make sure everything is blending together well and scrape down the bowl if needed.
This next ingredient, sweetened condensed milk.
You can add it to taste depending on how sweet you like your dessert.
If you like it sweet and have a sweet tooth, you can add the entire can.
You can add half of the can.
It's really up to you.
Beat the mixture until everything is really well combined.
Then you're going to wash the egg beaters.
You'll need a second large mixing bowl to beat your heavy whipping cream.
Make sure you're using heavy cream because it has a higher fat content
and makes it easier to whip.
Beat that together until stiff peaks form.
Then add two thirds of your whipped cream into your pudding mixture.
The whipped cream lightens the pudding consistency
and also helps to balance the sweetness.
Gently fold that together with a spatula.
To the remaining one third of the whipped cream, fold in one
tablespoon of powdered sugar, then refrigerate it until you need it.
I'm using a three quart trifle dish and I will link to this in the notes,
but you can also use a glass casserole dish.
Now it's time to assemble this easy banana pudding.
Start with one fourth of your vanilla wafer cookies,
then peel and slice one fourth of your bananas.
Don't lose time trying to make it look perfect.
It will all look pretty in the end.
Next, we're going to add one fourth of the pudding mixture,
and I do like to use a trigger release ice cream scoop
just to portion this and make it easier to transfer.
Spread the top into a roughly even layer.
And I do like to clean the sides of the bowl if I get them messy,
just because I love to see those pretty layers.
Repeat with the vanilla wafers, the bananas and the pudding mixture
until you have four layers.
Grab the rest of that whipped cream that you set aside and spread it over the top.
You can make it even prettier with a little bit of garnish
if you have some extra cookies and banana slices.
Refrigerate that for about two hours before serving.
That'll soften up the cookies and make it really easy to scoop.
Oh, it is ready for me to dig in, and I cannot wait for this taste test.
Seriously, banana pudding is such a treat.
Oh, look at those beautiful layers.
I love that you can see the cookies and the banana slices.
This is loaded with bananas.
So yummy. Such a treat.
Bananas are a fruit, so that's like a healthy dessert, right?
I've garnished it a little bit.
I've added a little bit of basil.
You can use mint and just a little bit of crumbs from the cookie.
Just makes it look extra pretty.
The trick here is to just dig in like there's no fancy way to serve this
because it doesn't slice like a cake.
So all you need is a big spoon and just just go for it.
I don't want to ruin it, but also I really do.
Takes a little bit of courage that first scoop.
OK, but it really is so simple to serve
because the cookies by now have softened.
Check this out.
Look at how easy it goes through.
Like those cookies are not crunchy, no moat.
OK, look at that. Oh,
look at those layers.
Isn't that the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?
Oh, I got a good husband.
Brownie points. Serious brownie points.
I guess I should say banana pudding points.
You'll get some, honey. Don't worry.
Banana pudding. Look at that.
Look at that.
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, I want to eat this so bad.
OK, I'm just going to look at the layers inside of the dish, too.
Look at that.
I didn't even get to the bottom.
Look at that. Mm hmm.
This actually feeds a crowd.
Come to mama.
And it's like each forkful is layers.
Beautiful layers.
Look at that.
Oh, that's a big forkful.
I can handle this. OK.
Can you handle it?
It is silky and just luscious.
You will enjoy every bite.
I'm telling you right now.
And it has so much great banana flavor.
I mean, we packed five bananas in there and then the banana pudding.
It's just screams banana.
If you love banana, this dessert is for you.
Oh, my goodness.
I can't wait to eat the rest of this.
And I love that like super lightly sweetened whipped cream on top.
Kind of cuts the sweetness as you put your fork through it.
This is so, so good.
So satisfying.
This is best the same day that it's made.
It will hold over till the next day.
I prefer it the same day.
So the cookies don't get way too soft.
I think it's just perfect right now between that two to three hour mark.
Can't wait to enjoy the rest of it.
And speaking of bananas, dun dun dun, we do have a really great banana recipe.
So just one banana recipe in here.
Hmm. I think so.
Anyway, it's amazing.
But plenty of dessert recipes in here that you guys will totally love.
I will link to this in the notes.
Let me know where you guys spotted sharky.
And of course, as usual, if you have any recipe requests,
I would love to hear from you.
And I'm going to go enjoy this.
We'll see you on the next episode of Natasha's Kitchen.
All right, honey, come and get your serving here because well,
no, I'm not going to eat all that.
That would be a very bad plan.
Hmm. You just going to take that?
Well, I have to go get my own plate.
Yeah, he just took that.
You all saw it.
Wow. Wow.
You know what this reminds me of?
You remember we were in Maui and there's this place that was known
for their banana pudding.
It reminds me of that, except ours isn't as like sweet.
I remember that one was like so sweet where you could only eat like two or three
bites. Delicious, but way too sweet.
This one is like it's more balanced, don't you think?
Everything has the same softness.
Mm hmm. Ten out of ten for flavor.
One out of ten for clumsiness.
