Hi sweet friends, welcome back to my channel and happy new year.
I'm just starting off this video by making a yummy hot coffee
and today we're going to be decorating the entryway. As you can see it looks
different already. This is what it looked like before I
changed things up so this is the last time you would have
seen it. I've had it this way for nine years so I was ready for something a
little bit different and I was shopping at Home Sense and I
came across this gorgeous mirror as well
as this really pretty wooden console table
that I thought would look so pretty in our entryway.
Like I said I haven't changed things around in about
nine years because we've been here nine years in this house
so I was really excited to try something different and I fell
in love with this console table. I thought it was so
pretty. I love that there's drawers here so I can put Holstein's leash here. It
just makes it really easy so you'll have to let me
know what you think in the comments but we're going to start off by decorating
with this gorgeous vase and I wanted to show you a little
peek of my storage space. I've been really
working on trying to get this organized. This is only one room in our basement
the smaller of the rooms so my husband built me these shelves
and I like to put my decor on shelves just because I feel like I can see it a
lot better. Whereas when I put it in the totes I
find that I lose track of a lot of the items that I have
so for me this just works best. I am trying to organize it more
by kind of items so keep all of the gold items together
but it's just a work in progress. You can see I have all my
fall things in this kind of back corner but I wanted to share a little glimpse.
It's definitely a work in progress but it makes it a lot easier when I do
go to grab items. I kind of know where they all are.
So to my vase I wanted to add these gorgeous realistic greenery stems
and because winter lasts so long here in Ontario Canada
I really like to have winter decor up and add lots of
lights and make it feel really cozy and festive
even though Christmas is over. I did pick up
this antler candle holder this year. It was on clearance for only six dollars
and I thought it would be so gorgeous to add these candles that I picked up
from Amazon. These look so realistic with the
dripping wax and I love having that ambiance right
when you walk in the entryway. When I'm decorating for winter I do
like to bring in a lot of natural elements to my decor.
I definitely feel like it warms up the space
and makes it feel a little bit more realistic.
I kind of wanted the house to feel like a ski cabin
so lots of lights and wood tones and I love how simplistic the top of the
entryway table looks with the lambs and the ambiance from
the candles. After Christmas I know a lot of people
say this but I definitely feel the same way.
I like to keep it a little bit more simpler so I really wanted to just do
minimal decor and let the beauty of the entryway table
shine and I do have my little helper Holstein
here. He's eating one of his snacks but he's
keeping me company. I know that you all love seeing him.
You guys will have to let me know how your Christmas was in the comments.
We had a really nice Christmas with family.
I can't believe it's January already but I'm so excited to bring you guys lots of
fun content this year. I wanted to add a little hype to this
area so I brought out some of my thrifted books.
I love thrifting for books. You can find them so inexpensive
and then I have these gorgeous birds. I was hoping the camera would pick up the
glitter on them but I don't think it's really
showing but I think these are so cute and to me it looks like a mama bird and
her little baby. This next piece I did pick up last year
on clearance. I think it was only five or six dollars.
I love the trees on it and just the simplicity that it brings.
I love adding pieces that are white for winter.
It feels so clean and fresh and then I had some pine cones.
I believe I picked these up from Michael's but I'm sure you could find
them out in nature. I think these ones are actually cinnamon
scented so they smell so nice especially when you come in the
house but again I love those realistic touches
and just a lot of different textures for the winter season.
You guys will have to let me know if you decorate for winter
or if you go right into valentine's day decor.
I really do want to add a few touches for valentine's day but I think I'm going
to decorate the house for winter and then go through and add some really
cute valentine's day touches so you'll have to stay tuned for that.
And then on this final shelf I did add these faux birch logs.
I love the sparkle on them and I think everything turned out
so pretty. My favorite of course is the candles
and I did turn my lamps on in the evening. This looks
so gorgeous. It still gets dark around here
at about 4 35 p.m so I really need that ambience from my candles and lamps and
twinkle lights and I feel like it really helps pass
those long winter months and keep things feeling really cozy.
I had moved my coat rack out of this space for
Christmas but I decided to move it back in here because I love
decorating this piece. I have this gorgeous scarf.
I'm using a lot of whites and blacks like I said
and then I decided to layer in these white figure skates
and to bring a little pop of color I'm going to add some of this faux greenery.
So I grew up learning how to skate on figure skates but
my husband actually bought me hockey skates or boy skates for Christmas
and he wants to teach me how to learn to skate on those because I never really
did get that good at figure skating. So I'm
looking forward to that but we're going to move over to this three tier stand.
I have these two gorgeous prints to choose from.
Let me know which one you would pick. I did decide to go
with this one with the bench. I thought it added a little bit more warmth to the
space and then I have these gorgeous skis.
I love this decor piece. I picked it up on clearance.
It was so inexpensive but I absolutely love it.
If you live in a colder climate you guys will have to let me know what some of
your favorite winter activities are. Mine is definitely tobogganing, probably
skating, going for winter walks and we've gotten
so much snow lately that I feel like we're almost in a snow globe here.
I'm going to add a little bit more ambiance with this candle.
Again I just love it in the evenings and then I had this white
pine cone. I thought it would be the perfect little touch
and I think this first shelf turned out so pretty.
You guys will have to let me know what your favorite colors to use
in your winter decorating are. I definitely gravitate more toward the
silvers, the whites, the creams, the greens and then lots of textures.
I feel like that's what makes everything feel cozy and I have these
owls. I'm not even sure where I picked them up from
but I think they are so cute and then this really pretty
glass snowflake. I thought that would be the perfect addition here.
So moving on to my last shelf, again more ambiance with this really pretty wooden
and glass candle holder and then I have this
toboggan. I just filled it up with some pine cones
and some cinnamon sticks and I think that's a perfect little touch for down
here. I did want to add this cute little stool
that I have. I love the wooden legs on it as well as
the colors and I decided to just prop this up
against this three tier stand. I did add another one of my thrifted
books and then I'm going to go in with this cute little evergreen or pine tree.
I really still can't believe it's January 2025.
I don't know where the time goes. I'm really trying to savor all the seasons
even though winter always seems to last the longest here
but sometimes I think by adding small touches of decor
and things that make your heart joyful really help
make each season special in its own way. But we're going to move on to the powder
room door here. I do love to add a seasonal wreath so I
thought this one would be so perfect. It was from my mom
and then my mother-in-law actually got me this cute little figure skate and I
thought I would add this to the middle of the wreath.
So now we're going to move over to my little bench area and decorate
this spot. I love to make this really cozy also.
You can see all the snow outside so I'm trying to keep warm on this really
chilly weekend. Lots of cold weather and more snow coming
but I have this gorgeous let it snow sign. I'm going to add
this here and I use this at Christmas end for my winter decorating.
I love the wooden accents. I don't know about you guys but I've really been
trying to purge and go through my items. I feel like as
soon as the new year comes I really want to get more organized and
clean the whole house. So I've really been trying to do that.
I'm adding this gorgeous blanket to this little area. You can see Holstein
just wants up so desperately. As soon as I want to put a blanket down
he immediately wants to be there and I wanted to make this space
super cozy for him because he loves to sit here and look out this
window. But like I said I really have been trying to declutter
and go through things and only keep items that bring me
a lot of joy and items that I know that I'll keep
using. So let me know if you're feeling the same way
and if you're kind of purging your decor or just any items in your house as well.
This sweater looking pillow is one of my favorites. I decided to tuck this
onto the bench also just to add another little cozy
touch and I think this space turned out so pretty.
I did still keep my mom's table that I had in the entryway here
and I put it in a different area in the house. I would never get rid of that. It
has too much sentimental value to me but I
really felt like I did want to change things up.
I'm still getting used to the space so you'll have to let me know what you
think in the comments. I really do love it though and I hope you
love it as well and I'm excited to decorate it for all
the different seasons. I feel like I have a lot more space to
decorate also and I think the wooden tone just really
warms up this front entryway. So definitely let me
know what you think in the comments. I would also love to know what room you
would like me to decorate next. I've kind of just been decorating all
my rooms so let me know if you'd like to see the kitchen,
dining room or the living room. I'm hoping maybe I can get another video
out this week. I'll have to see what my schedule is like and how much
time I have to kind of edit everything but I really want to bring you guys
content that you love and I'm just so grateful to each and
every one of you and all the support and love you give me.
It definitely doesn't go unnoticed and it truly
means the world to me and makes me feel so special.
So thank you so much for all your love and encouragement.
I really am so grateful for each and every one of you.
So friends, until the next video, take care
and God bless.
Hi friends, welcome back to my channel. I'm so happy you're here for another
decorating video. As you can see here in Ontario we have
lots of snow. It's really cold so I want to make the
kitchen feel really warm and inviting. We do have a smaller kitchen but I
really love to decorate this space and make it feel super cozy for the
winter season. If you did miss last week's video, I
decorated the entryway for winter and I love how it turned out. The wood
tones with a lot of neutrals I tend to use for winter
look so calming and peaceful for this time of year.
So I'll link that in the description box and a lot of you told me that I had put
my skis upside down on this little stand so I
did fix that. I feel like it's so funny when
you're decorating you don't always notice things until someone points them
out. So thank you for pointing that out and
of course I have my little helper here Holstein.
I think he looks so adorable. He just sits on the couch and watches me
decorate. I think he's hoping for a treat but he is just so sweet and I
know you all enjoy seeing him. So I have all my winter decor pulled
out and I think I might have only boughtten
one maybe two items new this year. I really wanted to utilize what I had
and I think this year I'm really going to try to do that with my decor.
I sometimes find it overwhelming to always be buying new decor
and having to store it so I really want to use what I have in new
and interesting ways. So as you can see I'm using a lot of wood tones
and then a lot of neutrals again. I'm going to start off with this huge
basket. This is one of my favorite decor pieces that I own.
I love the detail on this and the handles are so stunning.
I have a few of these black vases and I love them because I can incorporate
different stems throughout the year to change up the look.
I had these glittery silver stems with the snowflakes.
I thought these would be so perfect to add some height
but keep things feeling really light and airy here on the island.
You'll have to let me know if you like to decorate your kitchen island or if
you really like to keep it simple. These little mittens were the one item
I did purchase this year. I got these from a craft sale. They were only a few
dollars and I believe it said wine bottle
topper but I knew that I could use these in various ways throughout my Christmas
or winter decor. So I love those just kind of hanging off
the vase. I did add a candle and now I have these
gorgeous figure skates. These were a gift from my mom.
You can put flowers in them. She had them filled with carnations when she gave
them to me and baby's breath but I'm going to add some greenery here
and I love how this looks. It's a perfect little winter scene.
This tea towel always makes me think of my mom. It says be joyful and my mom
would always say keep joy in your heart and I never really
knew what she meant because I felt like I was always
happy but I feel like joy is different. Joy
is there regardless of our circumstances whereas happiness can be fleeting.
So I always put that tea towel out and I think of her and I really try
to practice what she said to keep joy in my heart. So I really like that reminder
and then I have these cute little wreaths. I thought I would add these to
the back of my bar stools here just to give it a
little pop of color. I did decide not to add any plates or
anything else to the island. I really wanted to keep it
simple and clutter free. Of course I did have to add some soaps. This Iowa pine
Mrs. Myers is my absolute favorite. My sister got me some more this
year because she knows how much I love it.
I also love the snowdrop and the peppermint but the Iowa
pine smells so good and it's so perfect for this time of year.
I'm going to move over now and decorate by my stove. There's a little corner here
that I love to add some cozy decor pieces to.
I'll start off with this cutting board. I got this on clearance for under $10
and I thought it would be so pretty to layer this magnolia table cookbook.
I love the green color and I really hope I can make some recipes from this
cookbook. I have yet to do that and I've had it for a few years
but then I'm going to go in with some greenery. This is so cute with the pine
cones. I love using pine cones this time of
year and then I have this adorable little
bird house. It looks so whimsical and snowy and pretty.
I thought this would be the perfect little spot for it.
These little light up houses are my favorite. You can use them at Christmas
and then carry them throughout the year and they just add such a warm
feel with that little flicker of light especially in the evenings.
And then I decided to put out this canister. I have my coffee pods
in this and this little corner is so simple but so sweet. You'll have to let
me know what you think. I started adding wreaths to my cabinets
a few years ago and I love to add seasonal ones.
It just breaks up all the dark wood and I love the look that it brings.
Moving on to the stove, I do love to add a little vignette to the top of this. I
can easily move it off when I'm cooking but I really don't like that fluorescent
green thyme showing on the stove so I tried to cover that up
with a little tree. I'm going to add this kettle. I believe it's by
Ray Dunn. I think it's so pretty and who doesn't love making tea this time of
year? And then I'm going to add this little
spoon rest with one of my little spoons that I use to make coffee. I would love
to know in the comments how you guys have been
and what you've been up to. I feel like it's been snowing
for so long here I haven't been able to go out and do as much as I'd like to.
Every day it seems like it snows five to ten centimeters here
so I'm hoping soon enough that'll ease up but I am going to try to go skating
like I said into Bogning. I haven't done that yet.
I'm really trying to declutter my home so I've been working on that
but let me know in the comments what you guys have been up to.
I use this gorgeous mug at Christmas and it carries so well into the winter
season. I love it and then I decided to also
display some of these black and white coffee cups here
as well as another little house just to add lots of ambience to the kitchen.
I wanted to use this little basket to make a little vignette on the kitchen
counter. I love this basket. I believe I got it
from a garage sale for only a few dollars. I think someone
told me it was a fishing basket but let me know in the comments if I'm
remembering correctly. I did layer in a tea towel and then I
had this gorgeous wintry arrangement. I thought I would tuck this in the
basket also and I find using baskets bring so much
texture and warmth to a space and you can find these
so inexpensively at thrift stores or garage sales
and then I also decided to tuck in a few of these snowflakes.
I love that whimsical feel that it brings to the basket.
You guys will have to let me know in the comments if you like to decorate your
kitchen countertops or if you like to keep it really simple
and not have a lot of decor out especially I guess if you cook a lot in
your kitchen. It can make it a little bit trickier if
you have a lot of decor to move but I did want to keep it quite simple.
I love these lanterns though. A lot of you will ask where I purchased these
from. They're from Cozines, a local nursery
and I have these in the gray and white like you see here
and then I also have a set in black and I just love how they look
especially in the evenings. So as you can see above
my fridge it looks really empty and bare to me at least. I typically put a basket
up there but I wanted to change things up and do something a little bit
different so I had this lantern. I thought I would
add some of these gorgeous twinkle lights
and I got these at Michaels or Costco. Both places have them
and then I had this big tobacco basket. I typically use it a lot in the spring
but I thought this would be so pretty on top of the fridge
with the lantern and I love that wood look with the soft
gray. I then decided to add in a little bit of greenery with this
tree and to complete the look I have this little toboggan.
I think it's so adorable. You'll have to let me know if you decorate above your
fridge or if it's kind of a catch-all space. I
know sometimes I will put coupons or flyers on top of the fridge or
mail. I'm not even sure why that is but right now it's just decor and I'm
loving how simple it is. I really do love the feel that the
winter decor brings to the space but I'm already thinking of spring decor
and I was so inspired by watching Liz at Traditions by the Season. She's
already bringing out color and flowers and it just made me
want to do the same. So if you haven't definitely check out
her channel but I'm going to enjoy this decor for a
little bit longer and then I'll start thinking about all my spring touches.
So thank you so much for watching friends. Until the next video
take care and God bless. Hi sweet friends. Welcome back to my channel and another
winter decorating video. I thought I would share a quick glimpse
of our backyard. Look at all that snow. It's been pretty
much snowing for two weeks on and off so I'm super inspired to
keep decorating for winter. If you did miss last week's video I
decorated the kitchen and I love how everything turned out.
It feels very cozy and just the right amount of decor for this
wintry cold season here. Typically we do have winter till
March so I'm not quite ready to bring out the spring decor
and in today's video we're going to be decorating the living room so let's get
started. So I have just removed all my Christmas
pieces that I had in the living room. Even some of the Christmas decor that I
thought I could use for winter I decided to take everything away and just start
from scratch. I feel like I always get the most
inspiration starting with a blank slate. You guys will have to let me know
if you're the same in the comments but of course
I do have my little helper Holstein here. He's trying to get all cuddly on the
sofa and he's definitely going to be my little
helper for this video. So I do still have my sectional split
into two and I really like this look just because
it feels a lot more open in this space. When I have the sectional as one big
piece it kind of separates the dining room and the living room
and it just doesn't flow as well. The whole room smells
amazing because I've just wiped it down with this Mrs. Meyers snowball scent.
If you guys haven't tried it you'll have to and let me know what you
think. It smells so amazing but we're going to get
started on the mantle here and I do have a 3M
hook just attached to the wall. I find that's the easiest
way if I want to hang decor and it always seems to hold.
I'm going to start off with this gorgeous snowflake and then this really
pretty swag. I thought it would be perfect for winter
with all the ice and the pine cones. You guys will have to let me know what
temperatures are like where you are. When you're watching this on Monday here
in Ontario, Canada it's going to be negative 15 degrees Celsius
and then I think the rest of the week is in the negatives also.
So very frigid and cold and lots of snow. So I really love to add all these cozy
elements in my decor and this church is one of my favorite
pieces. I think it's so pretty. I love that it lights up and it has
all the snow on it and then of course I had to add some
ambient lighting with these candlesticks. I love how they reflect in the mirror
and they look so gorgeous in the evenings.
I think sometimes that January can be one of the longest months or at least it
feels that way after all the excitement of Christmas
and New Years and when the month of January just goes
on and on and it's freezing and snowy. It really
feels like it's dragging so I think adding really pretty touches to your
home and pieces that really love and inspire
you can help make that month go by a little
bit faster and kind of make me look forward to all
the spring decor that's coming in the next few months.
I would love to know in the comments if you have any good book recommendations
or movie recommendations. I feel like I'm going to be staying
inside and being really cozy this week so I'm looking for some new
book or movie recommendations so if you have any just leave me a comment and let
me know. I'd love to hear from you guys. I love adding wood touches or wood
looking touches to my bookshelves. It definitely warms up the stark white
of the shelves. I've had these for eight or nine years.
They're from Ikea. They're called the Billy bookshelves I
believe. They were super inexpensive but I always
have so much fun decorating these seasonally
and all the decor seems to pop off on the white bookshelves so if I do
get new ones I would definitely go with white again.
Typically this time of year I use a lot of silver accents.
I like my gold around Christmas even in the spring
and for fall but something about the silver in the winter
looks so pretty to me. I love this toboggan with the snowflakes.
I was debating filling it with something but I love
its unique beauty and thought I would just keep it really simple
and I've been thrifting more books. I think I got these for 50 cents
each so I'm just going to keep adding to my book collection
and when I see something that I like I'll purchase it.
One of my goals this year is to definitely add more family photos into
my home. I love looking back on all the memories
and I feel like it adds such a homey feel to the house.
So I love this photo of Holstein. It was when he had just gotten groomed. He's all
fluffy and so sweet. I'm actually taking him this week to the
groomers. He's a little bit overdue. I like to take him
every six weeks to two months but I think it's been two and a half months so
I'm excited to get him cut this week. I love these little houses. They add the
perfect glow to a bookshelf or really any
space. I definitely want to order some more
candles and just ambient lighting for my bookshelves.
I don't like open flames. I'm always worried
that I'll forget to blow something out so I really only use
candles in my kitchen. So hopefully I can find some pretty
pieces, some more candlesticks to order off of Amazon.
Let me know if you have any recommendations in the comment section.
I am kind of mimicking what I did on the first bookshelf on the second
but it is a little bit different. I love to add pine cones to my decor
and you can easily find these outside at least where I live
but a lot of my pine cones I do get from Michael's
and I had this adorable squirrel. I love all kinds of animals and I just
love seeing them especially in the winter.
I don't see a lot where I live because it is a newer subdivision and we don't
have a lot of trees so I love going to the local trails
and seeing all the squirrels and bunnies. I just
love wildlife and my dad sees so much in his backyard. He has
probably three or four bird feeders and he sends me
photos and videos all day and I just love seeing
what all the little critters are up to. It brings me so much joy.
When I was pulling out my winter decor I didn't realize how many wooden trees I
had. I feel like it's hard to find winter
decor here in Canada. We don't have as many options as the US has
so I kind of just buy what I can and I guess I've been collecting these pieces
for a few years and it's easy to forget what I already
have but I do love the simplicity of the
trees. I have this gorgeous hymn book. I was out thrifting last weekend and
found it and I sifted through the pages and there were so many hymns that brought
back so many memories and I just love that I
have a little piece of that on my bookshelf.
I think everything's looking so cozy. Just the right amount of decor on my
bookshelves. I turned the fireplace on because it is
so cold and I just wanted to feel a little
bit warmer but we're going to decorate this back
area here and I have this gorgeous snowy canvas print. I'm going to add that
and then I also have this beautiful kind of pine
greenery and I absolutely love the vase it's in.
I think it's so gorgeous. I love adding white touches to my winter decor. It feels
so fresh and pretty so I have this candle from
Christmas. I decided to add this and because I'm not going to burn it I
did add this gorgeous flameless flickering candle
and I think this little corner turned out so cozy.
All the right touches with the wood and the whites
and I'm going to add a few fluffy pillows to my couch now.
I've had these pillows, these cream white ones, since me and Chris got married.
I remember we got a gift card for a store.
I believe it was Pier 1. It was and I went and picked out those pillows and
they felt like such a splurge because I think they were around $40
for one pillow so I've kept them all these years. I
think it'll be almost 10 years now and I always love to pull them out this
time of the year and just think on that special memory.
Of course King Holstein went and sat on the pillows
as soon as I put them out. He loves anything soft and comfy
and then I'm going to drape this really pretty fluffy white blanket on the couch
just to add another cozy element. I was going through all my blankets
and I did forget how many of these white fluffy ones I had. I have
three or four I believe and I really wanted to use them
all just to warm up the couch. The gray can feel kind of
cold sometimes and I've thought about getting
white couches but I feel like they would show a lot of dirt
so maybe I'll just stick to these white blankets and I feel like they really do
warm up that gray couch. You'll have to let me know in the
comments if you like how everything turned out or
if you have any suggestions. I'm really enjoying it
and I'm really enjoying the warmth of this fire on this
frigid day. I know there's a few more months to spring so I really want to
soak up this winter season and enjoy it as much as possible
and I think adding all these cozy touches really does
make it more enjoyable and make the season really feel
special in its own way. So thank you so much for watching friends. I am so so
grateful for each and every one of you and I am so happy that you come by every
week and spend some time with us. So until the next video friends take
care and God bless. Hi sweet friends welcome to our 2025
winter home tour. I'm so happy you're here today and I
want to welcome you into our home. I thought we would start off with the
entryway and I love how this looks. I recently
purchased this table as well as this large mirror
and I really think it helped warm up the space.
I really love the wood tones mixed with a lot of neutrals
and to me adding the lamps and the candle light just make it feel so
welcoming for guests. I know for me personally in the evenings
I really don't like to have my big overhead lights on.
I prefer just to have my lamps and twinkle lights and candles.
It makes everything feel really relaxing I find.
So let me know if you're like me in the comments. I would love to hear from you
guys. Moving over to this little nook we use
this bench to put on our shoes. I sometimes put my purse on here but I
love how this turned out and this pillow is one of my
favorites. I think the design on it is so gorgeous with the deer
and the snowflakes. It definitely says winter.
We do have a small powder room right off our main
entryway and I always love to add a wreath to the store.
It feels so stark and bare without something.
So I love this gorgeous wreath and then my mother-in-law gifted me this
figure skate and I think it looks so pretty in the center.
So this is our small powder room. As you can see I do love to decorate in here. I
think it ties in really well with the rest of the house just to have
a few seasonal touches. There's my helper
of course but I added a deer up here, a tree,
just some neutral winter touches that really warm up the space.
You'll have to let me know in the comments if you decorate your powder
rooms or bathrooms. I really mostly only decorate this one.
The upstairs bathrooms I tend to keep the same decor throughout the year.
Maybe switch up a few things but since this is a bathroom that our guests use
I do love to make it feel a little bit festive.
I think sometimes even just by switching your hand soaps
and the towel you can really make it feel special
but I just have some hand soap here, my warmer,
and it makes the bathroom smell so nice and really inviting for guests.
I don't know about you guys but I really can't believe it's almost the end of
January. It's felt really long but at the same
time it's kind of went by fast. I don't know if you guys get the winter
blues where you live but here in Ontario, Canada it's been so
cold and it feels like it's literally been snowing for three weeks straight
so I am just so looking forward to spring
and warmer days and I think I'm going to start to kind of sort through my decor
and get some inspiration for spring decorating.
I think these owls are so pretty. I can't really remember where I got them from. I
think maybe Cozine's a local nursery. I also love this glass snowflake
and again it's just a lot of neutrals with lights but I feel like it does
add a really cozy feel to the space. I've really been loving the look of the
more realistic greenery. I know it is more expensive but it
definitely adds a more elevated look to my decor
I find so I'm slowly adding pieces as I find them because they are
pretty pricey but moving down our hallway here I did
add this little display on our table here and I love this
gorgeous candle. It's a church and I think it was only a few dollars
on clearance at HomeSense. Below this table I did add some baskets.
I love having baskets throughout the house. They're perfect if you want to
toss something in like slippers or blankets and then
right across from that table I have this gorgeous
wreath. This is the door leading to our basement
and this wreath just reminds me of icicles. I think it's so pretty.
So once you come into our main living space the first room you see
is the living room. I feel like it looks so pretty with the fireplace going
and our whole downstairs is open concept. It's just one big
room so we have the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen
and it's really nice when I'm cooking in here I can just see
into the living room and really enjoy the fireplace.
I find that we don't utilize this room as much. The living room we usually sit
upstairs in the loft and that's where we have our tv
and eat our supper. So this room is more maybe if we have guests over but we
typically don't sit in this room as much as we
probably should and it's probably because there's no tv
in this room as horrible as that sounds. But I really wanted to keep it more
elegant in here so I did add a display to the mantle.
I love this church. It looks especially gorgeous in the evening
all lit up and the glow from the candles makes it feel
so magical. You'll have to let me know in the comments if you have a fireplace in
your home and if you'd like to have it on. I love
the look of it especially on those really chilly evenings.
But moving over to the bookshelves I did get these from
Ikea. They were really inexpensive. I believe they're called the
Billy bookcases. I love to add seasonal decor to these and I really kept it
simple. A lot of wood tones and black and then
some thrifted books which really add a lot of warmth. I did
keep the second bookcase in here very similar to the first
again using a lot of the same colors and textures
and I find if you really want a room to be cohesive you should stick
to a similar color scheme throughout that area
and it really does tie in the room. In this little area I do have this
gorgeous canvas print. I love this snow scene. It looks so
pretty and then below that I have this cute
little table. I added some greenery again in a
gorgeous vase and some more ambient lighting with one
of my flameless flickering candles. So you can see little Holstein sitting
on the couch. He recently went for a haircut and when he came home his ears
hadn't been trimmed that much so I decided to trim them myself and I
went a little bit too short but that's okay he'll grow
into them and as you can see I added lots of cozy blankets for Holstein.
They really help tie the whole room in I think.
Moving into the dining room I actually didn't even show you guys me decorating
this room because I kept it so simple. I added some placemats and
then I love these brown dishes. They bring so much warmth and the
centerpiece I kept so simple. I love this bowl. I actually
bought it not long ago and I filled it with some
pine cones and some Christmas bulbs that look like snowballs.
So very simple but again it does tie in the kitchen and the living room.
This rocking horse is probably one of my favorite pieces.
I got this last year from HomeSense. It was at the end of the Christmas season
and I think it was only $25 normally $50 but I think it's so
pretty and adds such a rustic feel to the space.
So I definitely love how the buffet turned out
and then I added some of these flameless flickering lanterns.
These are my absolute favorite. They're from Cozynes, a local nursery
and I have a set of black that I have in the dining room as well as a set of
gray that I have in the kitchen. So moving into the kitchen which is the
heart of the home I absolutely love how the kitchen turned
out. I think it's so cozy. I say that word a lot but that's
truly what the kitchen feels like to me and my
favorite thing about the kitchen was this vignette that I made with this tray.
I love these snowflake picks as well as the little mitts and the figure skates.
To me this vignette is just so pretty and makes me smile every time I see it.
To break up the white of my bar stools I did add these really pretty
mini wreaths. I also got these from Cozynes. I was trying to show
the sparkle they have but I don't think the camera really picked it up
but I think they add such a cute touch and then I have my Mrs.
Myers Iowa pine from my sister. I absolutely
love that scent. It's one of my favorites. Let me know if you do use Mrs.
Myers what your favorite scent is. A really inexpensive way to add ambience
to your home is buying a big pack of tea lights and just lighting some
randomly throughout your home. It's so inexpensive but it really does
make it feel magical. I think I have three lit in the kitchen
and I absolutely love how it looks and this is my favorite mug right now. It
has the trees on it. That was from HomeSense and of course
this little corner with my lanterns is just so pretty.
I do have some cutting boards on the counter. My husband loves to cook so in
the evenings he likes to have the cutting boards really
accessible. I'm really spoiled that way. I am not
great at cooking. I do all the cleaning and the laundry
and then he does the majority of the cooking.
So you guys will have to let me know how it works in your household
if you split up the chores or if you really enjoy
cooking. I think if I was better at it I might enjoy it more
but I'm so glad you decided to stop by friends.
Until the next video, take care and God bless.
