Hi, my name's Bob Lindy.
I'm an acupuncture physician and registered herbalist
in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Today I'm gonna talk to you about using acupuncture
for dealing with a bulging disc.
So one of the most important things
once you find your local acupuncturist
is to make sure that you do a complete evaluation
to find out as to why you're getting a bulging disc
so that they can select the best points, exercises,
and herbal formulations to help correct the bulging disc.
So, what we've done is we've gone through
and we've already evaluated this particular person
for their bulging disc.
In this case, it's in their low back,
which is a very common place to find a bulging disc.
We're gonna go ahead and select a couple of points
that are just local, and your acupuncturist
might select points on the arms, legs, feet,
and they may even use some electrostimulation
that will speed up the pain-relieving properties
and the inflammation that's oftentimes associated
with a bulging disc.
So, we're gonna use a couple of extra points.
These are some of my favorites
called the Hua Tu Jia Ji points.
Mostly, I just like the name of them.
We're also gonna find one point that's on the Ren meridian,
or excuse me, one on the Du meridian,
as well as the urinary bladder meridian.
Once we get these points in,
we can go ahead and leave them in for about 20 minutes.
A very important part of this
is also making sure that you get massage
and herbal formulations, as well as things like exercises,
stretching techniques, and even diet modification
can all be helpful for dealing with bulging discs.
Once we've left those points in for about 20 minutes,
we can go ahead and get those needles out of there.
So, you can find your local acupuncturist
either in the yellow pages, or you can check NCCOM
to locate a qualified and licensed acupuncturist
in your area.
So, make sure that you go ahead and make an appointment
to get a full medical evaluation
by your acupuncture physician,
and they can deal with not only bulging discs
in the low back, but they can work for pain
pretty much anywhere in the body,
as well as dealing with a variety
of internal medicine disorders
that you may be having problems with,
or just to help you maintain better health.
This is Bob Lindy in St. Petersburg, Florida,
talking to you about using acupuncture for bulging discs.
