Mike Waltz talks Biden s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan
Congressman, we'd like you to listen to this new sound of Biden warning way back in 2007,
do not leave weapons behind in Afghanistan because they can be used against our grandchildren.
Watch this. If tomorrow the order goes out from the, I'm president of the United States,
I issue an order, end the war today, begin to withdraw all American troops.
It will take a year to get the American troops out. And you leave those billions of dollars
of weapons behind. I promise they're going to be used against your grandchild and mine someday.
What do you say to that?
Well, it doesn't surprise me, Liz, that that Biden's a little forgetful these days of,
of what he said back then, but he was right back then. And what I think happened between 2007
and the disastrous order he made this year and the disastrous way with which it was executed
is he was vice president under Obama and had a real chip on his shoulder coming out of that
towards the military, towards the Pentagon, has been reported on multiple occasions.
He felt like the Pentagon boxed him and Obama in. And he came in already to office now with his
mind made up, determined to get out regardless of the conditions on the ground, regardless of
the advice he received. It's come out now in hearings that I've been in and others that his
generals at every level told him not to do it this way, told him there will be disastrous
consequences in the withdrawal. But as Biden said back in 2007, the thing that has me so darn upset
and so many veterans upset is future American soldiers are going to have to go back to deal
with this mess, this Taliban caliphate with ISIS rising, Al Qaeda rising, intending to attack us
again. But now, as he predicted, we're going to have to fight through our own weapons and there's
going to be future gold star families. And we need to think about that. This heading into Veterans
Day this week, future gold star families are going to be created at the hands of taxpayer funded
weapons that Biden left behind. That is so concerning, right? I mean, we have 13 troops
killed by suicide bombers. We abandoned Bagram Air Base. And also the Taliban had said, yes,
you can use Kabul Airport. But the White House seems to have dropped all that. Right. And we
had hundreds, if not thousands of Americans stranded. You know, the president's poll numbers
really started to turn south on botching the withdrawal out of Afghanistan. Even Obama's
former defense secretary, Leon Panetta, said President Biden hurt his credibility,
portraying his worst mistake, his chaotic Afghanistan exit as a success.
Panetta, Leon Panetta is saying the most important thing is you've got to be honest
with the American people. Admit the mistake that everybody sees that you know was a mistake.
Well, that's right. I mean, any six year old could have planned this better. Any six year
old could see that it didn't go well. And so for Biden to stand before the world and the American
people and say this was an exceptional success and say that we only have 100 Americans left behind
when every veterans group out there knows that it was way more than that to say their allies are
fine. Liz, when was the last time you had the British Parliament formally censor an American
president as they did Biden because of this? And then the biggest lie is saying that we're
just as safe. Al Qaeda's gone. Nothing to worry about. We can go back to deal with it when we
have no bases or local allies. From what you're hearing and no over the horizon capability,
from where you sit and what you're hearing, how soon will this be an issue of us having to go
back into Afghanistan? Well, just like the intelligence community started shifting on
how fast the Afghans were going to fall without our support, they're already shifting. They've
gone from a couple of years to now six months of when ISIS and Al Qaeda can be ready to hit us
again. I think they could inspire an attack even sooner than that. All right. Congressman Michael
Waltz, we'll stay on the story with you. It's good to have you back on. And again, thank you
for your service to our country. As the congressman said, this is Veterans Day coming up this week,
and we will be doing special coverage later in the week on the evening.
