Spring is here and you don't know what to wear.
Looks like you've come to the right place.
I think I have impeccable timing
to start when a siren is going by.
Hey guys, it's Jess.
What's up?
Welcome back.
I hope everybody is having a fabulous spring day so far.
Today, the vibes are high.
The weather, it is 45 degrees, but hear me out.
The sun itself is so warm and delicious.
I stood in front of my window this morning
and if I close my eyes, the sun is warm enough
that it feels like mid, late spring, early summer.
And it was truly a great way to start the day.
Speaking of spring, why we've all gathered here today
to do some spring outfits.
I've got 20 spring outfits for you.
I feel like fall, winter, my style is a lot more low key,
fall or autumn inspired colors.
But in the spring and summer,
I really have so much fun with prints, mixing prints,
playing with colors, doing a lot more with color theory.
So I am very excited to share these outfits with you.
And if you want to check anything out,
I will have everything linked below.
If it's thrifted, vintage, sold out,
I will have similar items.
And if you guys ever need recommendations for things,
I have things linked on my Shopmy
or you can also drop me a comment
and I will find what you need.
I will be your gopher.
Cool, without any further ado,
let's do some spring outfits.
It's no secret that I love a stripe button up.
So obviously, we have to kick off the outfit styling
with this particular item.
Starting off with a graphic tee.
This says sweet kisses in French,
which is exactly what I'm sending all of you.
And a pair of wide leg navy trousers.
Fun fact, these were actually my husband's,
but they were too short on him,
so I ended up adopting them.
And to make them fit better,
I'm rolling the waistband,
inspired by my middle school days
when I was rolling the waistband in my Sophie shorts.
We're adding a tuck,
and then this blue striped button up over top.
We're doing white sneakers for the shoe
and this bucket bag that features a woven texture
to give the look a bit more visual interest.
This is one of my go-to outfits.
I feel so comfortable and so myself in it.
The top underneath does vary,
sometimes to a tank top,
sometimes to a just simple t-shirt.
But I just love the shapes of the top and bottom together.
Slightly structured, meets a wide leg with some flow.
I love it.
This next outfit is so fun
and feels like a perfect spring day embodied.
In my brain, this is what Jenna Rank,
big time magazine editor, is wearing on the weekend.
It feels early 2000s in this fun, nostalgic way.
The lead and the best friend
in that early 2000s rom-com kind of way.
A white tank paired with a beaded maxi skirt
with embroidered paisley at the bottom.
Then a lime green three quarter sleeve cardigan over top.
And for accessories, I had a lot of fun.
I did these lime green beaded hoops,
a hot pink bag, and a colorful beaded necklace.
I test drove these lime green kitten heels for a bit
and I really loved the look.
To me, this feels like the adulthood
that I was promised in the pages of Teen Vogue
that me from ages eight to 14 was obsessively reading
during my everyday after school afternoons
at my local library.
Like the woman who wears this outfit
drives a yellow Volkswagen Beetle,
is a writer for a cool fashion magazine,
and every day starts feeling like a montage
to Perfect Day by Hoku.
I still to this day love that song
and I actually have a whole playlist of music
that actually feels like this outfit.
This is the perfect, frolicking,
run around town on a beautiful day kind of dress.
I love the volume in the skirt,
the little bows on the hips, and the fit of the bodice.
However, to my dismay, I still cannot detach my bust
and leave it at home when I want,
so on days when I wanna be just a little more low key,
I love a little cardigan tossed across the shoulders.
The chest isn't necessarily hidden,
but it's a little more tucked away,
which if you are busty,
you know it's kind of nice sometimes.
I love the print on this.
I think it adds a gorgeous little pop of something
to this outfit.
We're keeping it classic with my favorite
spring summer shoe and a woven cross body cassette bag.
I'm pairing fragrances with several of these looks
to set the vibe,
and also share some of my favorite fragrances with you,
because I feel like I never talk about perfumes
or fragrances.
So for this look, I'm spritzing Vacation Signature Scent.
It smells like a beautiful day at the beach.
Sun kissed skin, breezy air,
reapplying your sunscreen as the waves lap the shore.
Truly perfect for a day of frolicking.
Another favorite dress of mine
is this white tiered maxi dress.
I actually bought this while solo traveling in France
two summers ago,
and it has become one of my favorite spring summer go-tos.
Anywho, a color combo I love
is chocolate brown and a powder blue.
We're doing another over the shoulder cardigan,
because in spring, no matter the temperature,
you never know if it's gonna be a cold
or hot version of the temperature.
And then we're styling it
with this thrifted chocolate brown woven bag.
I spritzed on this Rare Beauty body and hair mist,
and this scent smells like spring.
It's bright, it's peachy,
kind of fresh laundry.
Honestly, it smells like the ideal Sunday spring reset.
Initially, I styled this outfit
with these super cute brown suede sneakers,
but I felt they were just a bit too eye-catching.
So I swapped to this pair of ballet flats
in a softer shade of brown,
and this tied the outfit together just right.
Super chic, easy to throw on,
and features the prettiest simple color pairing.
We're gonna restyle this dress,
because in this outfit video,
I wanted to reuse some pieces in my wardrobe
that, for me, I reach for time and time again.
Kind of change up the vibe depending on accessories,
because I feel like currently,
with all that's going on,
and with so many folks being on a no-buy,
a low-buy, or a very intentional spending
kind of time period,
I also wanna highlight how you can maximize
your wardrobe and restyle things,
and really make the most out of your pieces.
This look is gonna be for those of you
who don't love too much color,
but you're interested in incorporating
a touch here and there.
So we're starting with a black cardigan over top.
I like to open up the neckline a bit
by folding in the corners of the cardigan.
Next, we're pulling in our pop of color
through these super cute red flats.
They're squared off in the toe,
which I think is a really fun design detail,
and feature a buckle with silver hardware.
I wanted to plus up the volume in this look,
because it is more simple color palette-wise.
So I'm reaching for my ludicrously capacious basket bag.
I love that the shape echoes the inverse of this outfit,
with the fuller portion of the bag
being opposite the fullness of the skirt.
I love the simplicity of this outfit,
and I love that you can add a little bit here and there,
and truly adjust it to how you like,
by just continuing to add additional accessories.
Maybe you're watching this,
and you're like,
Jess, can we please see some more pants or jeans outfits?
You got it.
So I love a good Canadian tuxedo, AKA denim on denim.
I love how this lighter wash denim button up
styles with this pair of dark wash barrel jeans.
I think the contrast is so striking,
but melts together so well.
We're using those red flats once again,
to throw in an unexpected pop of color,
and we're keeping the bag simple with that brown woven bag.
A clothing item I forever get compliments on,
is this pair of green velvet floral pants.
The vibe nods toward the 70s,
with a warmer hue as the undertone.
So I like to lean into this with a warmer color palette.
We're doing a camel colored cardigan,
my Mary Janes, and that cassette style cross body,
featuring a warmer hued weave.
Now to make the look feel more intentional,
I'm pulling a page out of Fred Jones' book,
and adding a little ascot on.
I love the print and the colors in this.
It's so delicately funky.
This is also something I get so many compliments on.
My use of ascots and neckerchiefs,
so many people love them.
They're such a simple accessory to add.
You can always find them at the thrift.
And they really add that je ne sais quoi to an outfit.
All right, the legs are coming out for their season debut.
I've got them parading around,
in my favorite pair of shorts from Madewell.
And I've styled that with a thrifted cream,
fisherman-esque sweater.
Have you guys come across that slice of TikTok,
fisherman core?
Honestly, I love a lot of aspects in that style realm.
Also, I went to this braless show the other night,
at the Slipper Room in New York City.
And the show started off with a fisherman in a store,
meets seagull, non-dressing number.
The outfit transformed, and then there were wings.
It was quite a time.
Anyways, for the accessories in this outfit,
I went with my oversized woven basket bag.
And then I played between my Mary Janes and ballet flats.
I liked both in different ways.
They each gave the outfit a different feel,
but ultimately I stuck with the ballet flats,
to keep a more casual vibe.
And we're back with the ascot.
It's really just that cherry on top.
Some of you may remember me sharing,
that I love getting inspired by,
honestly, anything and everything,
when it comes to creating outfits.
Whether it's color palettes from characters,
sometimes time periods, or food, travel destinations.
I just love to get creative.
And for this look, I actually got inspired,
by a deck of cards.
This knit vest top, that features black diamonds,
and this really subtle flower pattern,
that to me, kind of resembled the symbol of clubs.
So to play with that, I did red flats,
added a pair of heart earrings,
and a heart-shaped hair clip.
I didn't have anything spades-like in my wardrobe,
but I liked how this crossbody went with the look.
And I still feel like the deck of cards vibe,
was still coming through.
I love how this outfit came together,
and I think it really goes to show,
that you truly can get inspired,
by anything and everything.
Including, Mamma Mia!
This next look was inspired by the iconic 2008 movie,
The Islands of Greece, and The Ocean in the Summertime.
Taking a blue knit top, featuring a scalloped deep v-neck,
paired it with a blue floral maxi skirt.
I'm accessorizing with one of my favorite thrift finds ever,
this coastal-inspired chain belt.
It's so cool, and I still cannot believe this find.
I'm keeping the ocean theme going,
with these gold shell earrings, and a shelled necklace.
I think mixing metals is so cute, and so fun.
I played around with a few bags.
My big basket bag, this thrifted shell handbag.
But eventually, I landed on this woven bag,
that has colorful woven flowers all around.
This detail reminded me of the bougainvillea motif,
that's shown on the front of the movie poster.
I think the perfect hair for this look,
would have been wavy hair, with little braids at the front.
But as you know, we work with what we've got.
I love how this outfit turned out.
It's so fun, and definitely vacation by the water,
kind of energy.
Guess what?
We're back with a striped button-up.
And this time, we're styling it over a white tank,
and that beaded maxi skirt from earlier.
For my bag, I went with that powder blue crossbody,
to divide up the look.
Then, my favorite part of the outfit,
what really makes it shine,
this funky paisley scarf, worn as a headband.
I love how fun and chic it looks.
And like I said, it really just spruces up the look.
I also love how the two prints clash,
but are united through the green shade.
And then with the sunnies, so cute.
I will say, I wish I had gone with different shoes.
I feel like the patent, and the shoe shade,
is too warm for the palate.
My external monitor wasn't working,
and it is impossible to see the camera screen.
It's maybe like two by three inches.
And even though I've got my contacts in,
my double astigmatism has me out here struggling.
So we're gonna pretend my shoes are maybe
those ballet flats, or I feel like even flip flops,
would pair so well.
Okay, out of all the striped button outfits,
the striped button-up outfits in this video,
I have to say, this one is my absolute favorite.
It is my perfect style collision
of whimsical, elevated, and cozy.
The base is ultra simple, with a cream knit tank,
and my dark wash barrel jeans.
Jewelry is super simple, with my little bean necklace,
and gold twisty hoops.
For shoes, my red flats.
Then, I'm adding an oversized red and white
striped button-up over top.
And of course, I gotta roll the sleeves.
I was really inspired by the classic triadic color pairing
for this one, of red, yellow, and blue,
but shown a little more subtly with the yellow
coming through, weave of my bag,
and the gold in the accessories.
And while this look was already so freaking cute,
I have one more addition that truly notches up the fit.
My crochet strawberry bandana.
I really, really love this outfit so much.
It's springy, it's fun, it's so comfortable.
It is the perfect thing to wear for a good spring stroll,
a wander, a dilly dally.
Like, this will be my uniform for the next several months.
And I have to say, I also love that this is effectively
an offshoot of where's Waldo's signature look.
I love that for us.
I don't know if I've shared this before,
but green is my favorite color.
Seasonally, the shade bounces around,
but currently, it's a matcha-y kind of green.
But I love styling and wearing different shades of green,
so for this next outfit,
I'm starting with this green tank and mini skirt.
Some of you may remember me thrifting this skirt in 2019,
so if you've been around since then,
hi, I love and appreciate you so much.
Now, if this were summer, I'd probably wear this as is,
but since it's spring where it's warm but not hot,
I'm gonna add a third piece over top.
I recently picked up this white button-up
from a small business at Not A Normal Vintage Market
last weekend, and all throughout the top,
it has the garment's measurements handwritten on it.
I loved how simple but interesting this edition was,
and as someone who enjoys sewing,
I thought this was such a cool creative design element.
I did an all-around tuck to keep the proportions
how I wanted them, and added a powder blue crossbody
and a dusty pink pair of sunnies.
I've really been liking this color palette
in different shades of blue, pink, and green.
It's so fun, it just works,
and now that I'm thinking about it, of course it works.
It's literally the Powerpuff Girls color palette
just shifted over a few hues.
No wonder I love it.
An alternative to styling this look
is with a cardigan styled more so as a top.
We're back with this dusty blue cardigan from earlier,
staying with the pink, blue, and green color palette.
Like I said, I love a more open neckline,
so I'm tucking the top corners in.
For the bag, I love this big old basket bag with the look.
I think it really completes the coastal vibe,
and really keeps that light kind of beachy feel
without being too on-the-nose.
I really love analogous color pairings,
and I think this look does it so beautifully
with the dusty blue into the bright green
and the yellow hue of the bag.
This is another outfit I could see
at least on the vest friend in an early 2000s chick flick.
Another two wardrobe favorites of mine
you may have seen before,
my green micro print vest
and this gingham tiered maxi skirt.
I wear each of these pieces so much in warmer weather,
but I also really like them together.
Pattern mixing isn't everyone's favorite,
but I quite love it myself.
I think in this outfit, the mixing works well
because the skirt's print is rather small scale
and the print on the vest is even smaller
than the earth tone color palette,
also help with that last bit of cohesiveness.
To me, this outfit is like a slight nod to Shrek
between the vest and the colors.
And funny enough,
my husband's last YouTube video was about Shrek
and the new little teaser that was recently dropped
and people went crazy in the comment section.
But anywho, that's this outfit.
I love wearing it in the spring and summer.
And if you're interested in pattern mixing,
going for smaller scale prints
in a harmonious color palette
is a really easy way to try it out.
I actually think maxi skirts
might be one of my favorite things
to style in warmer weather.
You can kind of just throw spruce and then go.
By that, I mean you pick a top
that fits your vibe of the day,
the weather, or color you wanna wear.
Then you spruce by adding your accessories.
Sometimes you keep it simple with a bag belt and sunnies
and a pair of shoes you love.
Sometimes you do a little bit
of complimentary color pairing.
I think it's fairly evident that throughout this video
and through several things I share
that I love pink and green together.
Genuinely, if I'm wearing pink nine times out of 10,
I'm also wearing green.
And then sometimes you go no belt
and let the top be a very neutral background
for fun accessories in fun colors.
Maybe like a lime green shoulder bag,
a paisley print hair scarf,
those red flats again to pull out the red in the scarf.
Honestly, when I started filming this video,
I didn't imagine the red flats to be such a fun reach for.
It really has been the perfect unexpected shoe
and I love how it looks with so many outfits.
They also make an appearance here with this next look.
I've got on one of my favorite pairs of jeans
styled with a striped sweater and yet another basket bag.
I once again subtly leaned
into the red, yellow, blue cryotic color pairing
with the blue coming through the jeans and the navy stripes,
the red from my shoes and shade of lip gloss
and the yellow from my bandana,
the hue of the bag, these golden sunnies
and the warmer tone of cream in my sweater.
I think the only thing missing from this outfit
is a big chunky charm necklace.
I don't currently own one,
but I do have this charm bracelet
that I'm gonna lay across the neckline to show you my vision.
I think that would be the perfect balance
across the chest area.
Minus that little featurette.
I love the vibes of this outfit.
It's so simple, but still visually interesting.
I like the light pattern mixing of the sweater and bandana.
I love the shades of the colors and how they play together.
And overall, I really like the shapes
and the silhouette of this outfit.
But what about one more outfit with the red flats?
I get it, pack it up, Dorothy,
but you guys, they're just so cute.
Paired with another one of my closet favorites,
what I like to call my Picasso shirt.
Actually, it's more like the abstract of Picasso,
the colors of Mondrian and the fluidity of Dali.
But in my wardrobe, she's just known as my Picasso shirt.
I think anytime you wanna dress up a pair of jeans,
just add a conversation blouse,
something with interesting shapes or lots of color,
maybe an unusual print or dynamic design elements
like fringe or stylized sleeves,
and let that do all the heavy lifting.
I think sometimes we get really stressed out
about creating a cool outfit
and focus on way too many things
when we can also create a really cool outfit
simply by taking a simple outfit formula
and swapping one element to something with more pizzazz.
Accessorize to your heart's desire,
and then we have a really cool outfit.
For the last look,
I wanted to share a tried and true favorite of mine.
We're starting with one of my favorite maxi dresses.
Though some of the previous maxi skirts and dresses
I've shared have had volume,
this dress really cranks it up.
Layer a little jacket over top.
Here I'm using a suede jacket that I thrifted last fall.
Then I belted at the waist to define the silhouette.
Like I shared earlier,
I love how the shade of blue looks
paired with the chocolate brown.
Then to further tie in the texture,
I opted for these gorgeous brown suede knee-high boots.
And finally, I'm adding this pair of sunnies
to tie in a bit of a 70s vibe.
This outfit seriously has the most fabulous movement
when I walk down the streets of New York City.
Kind of does this sachet and flutter with each step.
Truly fabulous.
I'm not gonna lie though,
it is a slight nuisance
when I'm going up and down the subway steps
because I have to gather so much fabric in my hands,
but I gotta say, it's worth it for the sachet.
And that is a wrap on today's video.
I hope you guys enjoyed and got some good inspo,
whether exact outfit formulas or color pairings
or print mixing and matching that you wanna try.
Like I mentioned in the beginning,
links to everything will be down in the description box
and also on my shop line.
I'm gonna have a little chat real quick.
I found it really difficult to vlog
the last couple of months.
I think I kind of was just having a rough time
for my first full winter in New York City.
I think I really made the most of it
and I really enjoyed so much of it.
But I think even if you do your best
to beat the winter blues or seasonal depression,
it still does affect you.
It makes it a lot harder to do things.
So I think between a combination of that,
being I think a little bit stuck
on not necessarily what I wanted to create,
but I don't know, the last couple months
on a nationwide scale, a global scale,
it's just a scary, not great time.
The more lighthearted content that I create,
it's hard to feel it has a place sometimes
when everything else is so serious and so heavy.
But at the same time, I also know that my content
and what I share and what I create
is a space where people can come to escape
and to find semblance of normalcy.
At least you can feel good in what you're wearing
or maybe you get some ideas on something you wanna cook.
I know my content can be a vehicle for that.
And I'm so happy and I'm so proud and grateful
for my community and for what we have.
But also, it's just difficult to feel like
now is a good time to share things
when there's so many other things
that are important to be taking in.
Vlogs are back, I'm back.
Have one vlog already up, March Days in New York.
You're rapidly losing light,
so I'm gonna say bye to you here.
If you'd like to keep up with me throughout the week,
you guys can find me on both TikTok and on Instagram
at justganicestats.
And I think that's all I've got today.
So thank you guys so, so much for watching.
I hope you all have a fabulous rest of your day
and I will catch you in my next video.
Bye, guys.
