Your name Stephen, but you've had lots of nicknames like famous co-stars have given you nicknames and things haven't they? Yeah, I've had a couple
Like what um, well when I'm with Leo he called me on him
He gave me the nickname animal just because
When we go out drinking in Italy, obviously
Being from Liverpool and half Irish. I used to be able to drink quite well
So he called me animal
Leonardo DiCaprio was either one who loves your accent. Yeah. Yeah
Yeah, he used to make me say chicken
Chicken and lock it and lockets
Lockets, they're like these they're like these sweet these, you know, these sweets with only in them. You don't remember lockets. Yeah
Yeah, so he used to go what?
Chicken
Chicken, you know, I get it chicken. Yeah, where I come from we say chicken
Can you say much safety? What's your hits? Super?
One of your first of a snatch because you've got to work with Hollywood great Brad Pitt, she must have been extraordinary
But you kind of you kind of blanked your way in or I suppose technically yeah
Apparently guy was only seeing people from London
So when I went in for the meeting that pretended I was from Southeast London
Looked at me and then I was like, I've come along for the audition. He's like no scouts
Yeah, no wait were you before I was like I know but I thought you might have forgotten
Even now you've worked with your wife Hannah a couple of times
Yes, and now you play husband and wife didn't you in in time? Yes, we did. So was that weird blurring those lines of
It's not really she's a phenomenal actress. Yeah, I mean she is absolutely fantastic
So it was just what it was for us. I think more importantly we were kind of, you know
I'm two kids from a council estate. We had a dream of being actors
You know what?
I mean and we were kind of lying in the beds and the whole camera crew it around doesn't it was like
We just had this really lovely moment and we just kind of looked around and then we looked at each other
We went wow, can you believe this? Yeah, she was like no, this is this is amazing. But we're living our dream
Phenomenal and then I farted
Because I was so comfortable in the bed
Sorry love I was feeling a bit comfortable
So I ruined a beautiful moment
Yeah, I guess the the starting point for this is that this is a true story
Yeah, when you watch it you kind of think this but it is it's true and it happened in this country
Yeah, it's all based on true events and the writer Jeff Pope who's phenomenal
He's wrote I did a show for Jeff a few years ago now called little boy blue
But this is very close to my heart. You know what? I mean? It's I think it's it's a very poignant drama
It's powerful
and I also think that you know personally for me to be a part of
Stuff that has a social commentary and kind of you know is really relevant to what's happening today
It's about a neo-nazi group who you know were dismantled and they were taken to court and all of these these people were they were
the first
white supremacists and white terrorists to be convicted in our country
But the the walk-ins are people that the man Matthew kind of inserts into the groups. Yes as a young man
He was in the National Front
And then he kind of realized the error of his ways and with me being a mixed-race
Man, do you know what I mean growing up as a kid the National Front were they were quite rife back in there
Yeah, late 70s and early 80s, you know what I mean?
So I saw that side of it as well predominantly. I did you meet your character? I did. Yeah
Yeah, we we had a few conversations and then kind of I don't like to do impersonations of people
I like to kind of take it on myself and try and create my own character
Do you know what I mean?
And I think it's really relevant and I think it's very poignant for today and for people to you know
It's gone. It's gone down a storm
Let's see a clip this is from next week's episode and it's you and your wife played by Leanne best
Pairing to bring a walk-in into your home. This is ridiculous
He's just gonna live with us now. You don't know the first thing about them. I'll be for long
Yeah, I think it's dead taste. I've make you sleep on a camp bed
When all you do is for rest, I couldn't just leave Nick right because you know what my problem is
He's got a target on his back now because the body's done and you've brought it into our home
And no choice
I'm the same thing
That's the severity of the fellow who I played Matthew Collins
That's the severity him and his family have to go through through bringing these people to justice
Do you know what I mean?
They have to keep moving house and hide them because they get found out where he where he live and you know
The houses can be petrol bombed and the kids are threatened and stuff like that
Or because they're trying to bring these people to justice and obviously on the show
There's children in the show and there's lots of extras and background artists, but there was one
Background artist who apparently was very impressed to see you. Do you know what I'm talking about?
No
Is it what I mean there was one she she kept saying she got confused
She got confused. She thought I was someone else. I thought she was being really nice and she went to me
You're doing really well for yourself, aren't you?
Thank you, love, you know extras can have conversations with you
Sorry supporting artists can have conversations with you and you're like, oh, okay, you know and they have really interesting
Conversations sometimes I'm and she went you're doing really well for yourself when I thank you very much. You've been polite
You know what? I mean? And then I was like, yeah. Yeah, she went cuz I never thought it had happened for you
Okay, okay, where are we going now?
And she was like, well, you know after big brother
Sorry love what and she went well you're Craig
Brother was playing the lead
But the crew yes, yes go on Graham you're gonna show
Wonderful DOP
Decided it'd be great for on my final day when I had a big heavy scene with me wife and kids
That the crew would all have these t-shirts on
Listen I must say to you while you're here
Just congratulations on the success of boiling point because that was your thank your first movie as a producer as well as a yeah
I got a little company. Yeah, we were part of that makes real productions. Um, and if you guys it's a whole movie in one take
Yeah, yeah, yeah everybody heard about it because it yeah
You know what I mean, I mean he's a legend
Phenomenal, but just this morning really exciting announcement boiling point continues. Yes. Yes. We're gonna do a TV series for the BBC
So yeah, we're really looking forward
It's most of the cast I think we're gonna we're gonna have most of the cast back Hannah obviously in Burnett
yeah, and our wonderful director Phil who's just phenomenal we're gonna make a five-part series and it's gonna be kind of more of a
Kind of social commentary. Do you know what I mean?
But with the intensity of working in the kitchen and when might that actually be on telly?
Well, I think we start filming in January
So it'll probably be towards the end the next year maybe next
Here's the thing though. I did not know this
Stephen Graham are hiding your light. You are a dancer. No, I'm not
But like you took it seriously there was a bunch you
Can I just show you I'm not going to ask you to do
I remember once
Nancy very good rest of soul
We used to go we used to get our line
Oh
And we used to get to get all blasted and we'd go and we'd have like grab master flash and melly melon, you know
All that kind of fantastic stuff back in the day and we used to break dance
And we yeah, we were in a crew. We were a little crew. We were we were half-decent me and a couple
It's just the four of you with all your friends that yo, let's hit the road and break
What you call the Bronx brother
We used to put the line all down and we'd and the people had gathered around we make a good couple of quid
Videos exist
No, it's great. Yeah, it was bringing the line up
No, no, no. Hey, here's the thing though if you want to see I don't know if you dance
But you certainly sing in the new version of Matilda the musical. Yeah
No, what's up with the dancing in this show, are you all anti dance?
Even like for me like a two-step that I think about that one, too
I see talent
Can I be older if I had one wish it would be to be able to dance
I had and I'm that's not I'm not lying that sometimes
Yeah, I got mates who can dance and when I always feel that if I could dance
I'll be one of those people who just dances all the time. Just call me
