Welcome back to Royal Insider News and today we've got heartwarming royal moments that will
make you smile. Yesterday on the 12th of February 2026 the Princess of Wales made a surprise visit
to Castle Hill Academy in Croydon, South London and the kids absolutely lit up. As patron of
Place 2B Catherine was there to shine a spotlight on Children's Mental Health Week. Let's dive into
The Princess arrived looking effortlessly elegant in a preppy brown blazer and trousers
paired with a light blue shirt and flats, perfect for a day of play and connection.
Children waved kindness themed flags and cheered as she stepped into the school grounds.
This wasn't just any visit, it highlighted how early childhood experiences shape lifelong
well-being, something Catherine has championed for years through her work with Place 2B.
She kicked things off in the early years outdoor play space, a thoughtful area designed with
therapeutic principles to encourage emotional regulation, sensory fun and creative play.
Supported by partners like Deloitte, it's exactly the kind of nurturing environment
the Princess loves to promote. We saw her chatting with little ones, parents, teachers
and Place 2B practitioners. The focus, building trusted relationships and giving children tools
to thrive. One highlight, the emphasis on belonging and connection, the core theme of this year's
Children's Mental Health Week. Then came the magic in the art studio. Catherine joined a group of
nine-to-one one-year-olds for a creative session. They worked on belonging maps and fun activities
like picking up colourful pom-poms with tweezers, all to express feelings and build confidence.
She beamed as the kids showed off their work and shared sweet moments chatting with them.
In one touching exchange, she reminded the children that kindness is key.
The smiles were contagious, pure joy on every face. These activities show how creativity and play
help young minds open up and feel supported. After the visit, the Princess shared a heartfelt message.
Belonging and connection is so important and is a fundamental part of early childhood development.
As patron of Place 2B, I am incredibly proud of the work they do to support families and
communities. It's a beautiful reminder of why she's often called the children's princess.
Her genuine warmth and dedication shine through every time. What an inspiring day!
Moments like these show the real impact of supporting children's mental health early on.
