Duncan Ferguson reacts to his first Everton win, a legend at Goodison Park

Neil MacEwan you haven't run that fast in years I nearly pulled my hamstring there You can't blame you—listen you scored 72 goals for Everton How did it feel scoring those goals compared to the three you witnessed as a manager for the first time today It was incredible today honestly—I’ve never felt anything like it in my life Unbelievable What an atmosphere Fergie it's Ozzie Congratulations Absolutely fantastic Did that play out the way you expected last night when you were picking your team Yeah I did to be honest I know we had to defend a lot We probably just relaxed and stayed in good shape you know what I mean and actually took our time to wind down I think we did that well I think we maintained our form really well As you can see it was a 4-4-2 formation with coverage on their two central defenders I thought we executed that well pressed the ball effectively and it played out wide I couldn't believe it when he went in for the press I thought every player was absolutely fantastic There couldn’t have been a more fantastic result You mentioned a 4-4-2 we haven’t always seen the best from Dominic whom you’ve worked with extensively But today in your first game in charge you positioned a striker right beside him and we witnessed his best performance yet Did you know he was capable of playing at that level Absolutely We really like him here The goals are coming—he scored two today His work ethic he's always that constant threat isn't he And of course a bit of assistance up there too with the foul in the first half As the game progressed I thought they performed exceptionally well and set screens that were truly outstanding for us What a transformation they brought What an incredible effort everyone contributed Of course when they're stepping in as center-backs you've got to make sure you're getting across I thought they were fantastic at doing that Duncan it's Rachel Brown wrapping up the studio Well done today Are you looking ahead right now to Manchester United Leicester Arsenal Or are you thinking about January Are you looking at the summer transfer window No I'm just thinking about getting home and lying down I guess No there's no big bonus here at all I was just looking at this game that's all We're just capturing the moment right It's a fantastic opportunity for us— that's the main thing But look Duncan you loved it didn't you Unbelievable It was an unforgettable experience—one I'll never forget So you're heading off now aren't you to Mashiri and Marcel Branson You'll be saying come on I loved it I enjoyed the experience We scored three goals We won the game I'm the man for the job No honestly I won't be saying that Really That's not what I'm saying I'm here to stay and I'll remain as long as they want me here I'm certain they're out there searching for their candidates and rightly so We want the best people in the world running their football club But this was an incredible experience for me Something no one can ever take from me But this also and I don't want to speak for you is an opportunity for you to say Look I want to be taken seriously We know you aspire to be a manager We also know how much you love this club If they're watching this they want to know you're the one who truly wants the job To be fair I think they saw on the sideline just how eager I was It's just one game just one outcome I think I've answered that question haven't I Absolutely Well the connection was特别 today I think the ball boys enjoyed their cuddles Yeah Good Lord yeah I was kissing everyone I think Well we reckon the first ball boy got a cuddle And then when you scored the next goal I think the one down the touchline liked it so much he sprinted straight toward you didn’t he Look we've got it right here see Yeah I must've found a second wind and pushed even harder the second time
