A Historic Night for Figure Skating! 🔥⛸️ | #MilanoCortina2026

The finalists in the men's single skating competition. They've made it through from the short program to the free skate. The scores will carry over. The hero of the Japanese team, Sato Shun, now competing for himself. Front toe, triple toe. Nades this one and he gets it. An artistic score will be critical here. Bright skate. He's just gone into first place. Mikhail Shadurov of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan has only ever won one medal in figure skating at the Olympic Winter Games. Another quad, that's a quad toe, triple toe. Five so far. This is a play for the podium. Triple lutz, double axel. Gets onto the podium. Oh, that's lovely from Sato Shun. Good position. Kageyama Yuma from Japan. No stranger to being second. He's been it to pretty much everybody. Quad salchow step off. Quad flip and it's a deduction. Triple flip, triple loop. And he wants to be on that podium again. He is into second place. Ilya Malinin of the United States of America. Singled out the quad axel attempt. This is the highest scoring element ever. Quad lutz and it's a four. Double and a four. Joe is struggling. You can see the distress. It's eighth place for Ilya Malinin. These are numbers that nobody ever expected to see. Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan. An unexpected but utterly deserved Olympic Winter Games champion. Bronze to Sato Shun of Japan. Silver to Kageyama Yuma, his teammate. And gold to Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan.
