Pinocchio's snowy promise.
The snow was falling gently over Geppetto's little workshop.
Inside, Pinocchio was warmed by the fire.
Geppetto put on his coat and said kindly,
Pinocchio, please fetch some firewood before nightfall.
The fire is small and we'll need more to stay warm.
Pinocchio nodded quickly.
Don't worry, Papa. I promise I'll get it done right away.
He picked up the basket and ran outside.
But as he stepped into the snowy yard,
he saw other children rolling snowballs and building forts.
Come play, Pinocchio, they called.
Pinocchio laughed and forgot about his promise.
He joined the game, throwing snowballs until the sun began to set.
When he finally returned, the fire inside had grown weak,
and Geppetto was shivering under a blanket.
Pinocchio's nose twitched with guilt.
I forgot the firewood, he whispered.
Without another word, he rushed back out into the snowy woods.
His fingers were stiff, but he gathered as much wood as he could carry.
When he came back, he built up the fire until the room glowed warmly again.
Geppetto smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder.
Thank you, my boy.
But remember, a promise is not just words.
It is something you must keep, especially when others depend on you.
Pinocchio nodded, his cheeks red from both the cold and shame.
I understand now, Papa.
From today, I'll keep my promises.
And that night, as the fire crackled and the snow fell softly outside,
Pinocchio learned that keeping his word was as important as keeping warm.
Moral!
Always keep your promises, they warm hearts like fire in winter.
