Hi there! Check out our interview with Scarlett Johansson & Chris Evans about CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Enjoy! :)
I learned that you know each other like 10 years already.
Then working together, did you fight at all?
Did you always get along? How was it?
This is just a facade. We're faking it right now.
Just stay on your side.
We've known each other since we were really young.
At least 10 years. Early 20s.
It's been great. I think our level of comfort offset.
I was 17 when we first met.
I think you were 16.
No, I wasn't. I was 17.
No, I think you couldn't even buy cigarettes.
No, first of all, I was 17. You can't buy cigarettes when you're 17.
Oh, really?
Not that I ever smoked them.
Chris.
Now we find something out in the know.
Sorry, Mom.
It was a long time ago.
It wasn't that long ago. No, I'm just kidding.
No, because I think if you're friends,
you always have a special language with each other.
Is that like for the others?
Was it strange because you knew each other,
you know how to talk to each other?
This is my fourth movie with Sam.
I've known him for a long time.
Probably almost 10 years also.
Sebastian and I knew each other
because we were doing a Broadway run at the same time.
Also, this Marvel universe is like a big family.
I mean, we've all worked together in one way or another
for several years,
so there's a kind of a shorthand between everybody.
Yeah, there really is.
I mean, Sebastian and I, even Mackie and I,
Mackie and I have done three movies together.
This was a very comfortable environment.
So it's almost like family, so to say.
Like summer camp.
Right.
But you do it very well between all the boys.
I mean, and you have the best laugh, by the way, ever.
I mean, I just heard you laughing when I was sitting outside.
It comes from there.
Pain.
No, no.
It comes from a deep sadness.
No, it's a real true laugh, you know.
It's great.
And also, you are the matchmaker in the movie.
You always try to hook him up somehow.
Did you ever do that in real life also with friends,
that you had the feeling you have to help a little bit?
With Chris?
No, in the movie you do it.
Oh, in the movie.
But in real life, did you ever do it?
With other friends.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I'm forever trying to find, like,
my future sister-in-law, who's that person that's going to be.
But then eventually, a couple of years ago,
after I started hearing, like, the stories of the trail
of wreckage that my brother left behind him,
I decided that it was probably not a good idea
to set him up with anybody that I had any real feelings
towards anyway.
Not to say he's not still eligible, ladies.
He is. He's a great guy.
No, but we know that.
I just totally sold him out.
Under the bus.
I know. Threw him right under there.
And also, traveling with the movie.
You know, and everybody sees it.
You talk about it the whole day.
Is that also fun for you guys,
or is it sometimes these junkets and premieres
looking beautiful at the red carpet?
Is it a lot of work also?
I mean, it's certainly work.
It's part of the job.
But it's a lot easier when you're proud of the product.
When you actually enjoy the movie you worked on,
you're glad to try and bring it to people
and share the work you've done.
Yeah, and, like, we're lucky.
We do our junkets mostly together.
That helps us kind of keep it fresh, too,
because we, you know, we like to hang out,
or I'll be with Sam, or you'll be with Mackie,
or whatever.
I mean, we're all, we have pretty nice, again,
nice kind of friendly kind of chat between us.
That's good.
So more fun than anything else.
That's good.
Yeah, I mean, it's still work, of course.
You know, I mean, we go to work every day
at five in the morning,
and we finish at eight o'clock at night.
I mean, the days are long when you're shooting,
and these, you know, I think a lot of people,
you know, it's funny, I was talking to Sam about this.
He's like, everybody wants these, like, stories
of, like, how hilarious the set was.
He was like, we're working.
It's a working environment.
I mean, you know, it's hard to make movies.
There's the glamorous premiere part of it,
but the actual day-to-day is, it's intense.
You know, it's a big crew.
The hours are long.
Everybody is like, you know, by Friday,
we're all spent, you know?
So it's work, but it's also, you know,
it's a nice work environment.
Yeah.
