Zidane who led Real Madrid to four trophies last season including La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. It will be Barcelona who get the action started. Listen to the roar from the home fans as the ball is worked. Casemiro brings in Carvajal. Bale at the far post. Goal kick. Bale puts a thumbs up in order to make room to go forwards. That's what they're doing here. Jordi Alba with the cross for Barcelona. He says to Jordi Alba, off you go. Jordi Alba needs a bit of help. Suarez gets there. Wonderful covering from the Carvajal. Isco. Oh, it's fired goalwards. Instantly by Bale. And kept out well by Ter Stegen. Isco has been at the heart of most of what's been good for Real Madrid in this first half so far. Here he is again. Suarez. Rakitic to Suarez. They close the door on him just in time. Good defending from Carvajal. Defenders have to be aware of Iniesta. That's a lovely ball. Really good football. Jordi Alba joining the attack. Leo Messi at the near post. Just unable to get the touch he wanted. But look at the weight of the pass there from Iniesta. Mateo Kovacic, Serbian international. It's a long range shot that's comfortably dealt with by Ter Stegen. Marcelo stands up the cross. Attacked by Gareth Bale who is very goal to take to the Bernabeu. Pique attacks it. Well the referee has spotted. I think it's a handball by Pique. Let's have another look at that. Yeah, Pique gets it back from Busquets. It's a wonderful, wonderful tackle. What was Casemiro thinking of? Well we saw proper tackling from Kovacic. And then in the follow up a dreadful tackle from Casemiro on Lionel Messi. And the yellow card is out. Messi takes. Trust over. Well they had the right foot of Luis Suarez available. But it was a good position for a left footer. And there's no better left footer than Leo Messi. Madrid. Isco. Quick feet from Isco. But the shot at the end of it all caused no great problems for Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. He's done everything right there except get the shot on target. But just for a moment things looked dangerous. Lovely touch from Luis Suarez. Bidal with the cutback. Move isn't dead yet. Gonna be kept going by Rakitic. Brought back. He didn't expect. And Bale just getting in behind and Umtiti uses his strength. And caught by Benzema. It'll be a free kick. Messi. Step over from Suarez. Well it didn't work. But it might. Germany's second choice keeper behind Manuel Neuer. It's a good run by Luis Suarez and he's gathered it. First effort on target of any note from either team. Comes from Luis Suarez and Barcelona. Kovacic. Serbian international. Rivals. And winning this trophy over two legs would be a good start. They came second. Oh that's a. A little slip. Worth a go. From Mateo Kovacic. Referee brings to an end. A really entertaining fast and furious first half. Luis. Chances. Well. Neither goalkeeper too seriously troubled. In the first half. For all the enterprising attacking play that we saw. Real Madrid. In the shape of. Karim. Benzema. Brings this down. Of Leo Messi. Here is Messi. Into the penalty area. Trying to keep the move going. Loses his footing. And looks at the referee. But he's not going to get. A penalty. Barcelona do not want to go to the Santiago Bernabeu. On Wednesday. With a 1-0 deficit or worse. Rakitic. Delefeu. Real opportunity for Barcelona. It goes across the face. It could be a goal kick and nothing more. Well Barcelona are trying to respond. And the cut back. For Messi sliding in. He slid in again. But couldn't get a touch. And Delefeu. Oh he's given Marcelo. A lot to do. But Marcelo's done it well. And there's an opportunity now. On the counter attack for Real Madrid. And it came off. The head of Busquets. Isco. Marcelo on the overlap. It's an own goal. Oh what a dreadful. Dreadful moment. For Gerard Pique. For Real Madrid. Stretch. That run. Of consecutive scoring matches. To 66. With some help. From Gerard Pique. For Marcelo. The Brazilian full back. On the overlap. And Pique in trying to clear. Sends it past. Ter Stegen. 1-0 to Real Madrid. Before moving to Manchester City. Free head up. From Suarez. From Luis Suarez. But dealt with by Keylor Navas. Kroos lets it run. Gets it back from Marcelo. Tony Kroos. Still Kroos. Cut back. Carvajal's shot is blocked. Carvajal trying to. Keep the move going. He's won it back for Real Madrid. For Cristiano Ronaldo. It's Luis Suarez. He asked for the ball and he got it. There's the cut back. Well Varane made sure that he didn't do. What Gerard Pique did. Jordi Alba. Way offside. Luis Suarez. Surely the crowd must have realised it. Lovely reverse ball. To Kroos. Cristiano Ronaldo. Closed down. By Pique. It'll be a corner kick. Gareth Bale. Makes room for the cross. Cristiano Ronaldo. Was. Dreaming. Of an overhead kick volley. Didn't quite get the right. Messi. It's well handled. By Navas. Gathered well by Busquets. Messi gets his shot away. There didn't seem to be room to do so. And surely. Oh it's over the bar. And just a goal kick. Well. In amongst it all. Denis Suarez felt that he'd been fouled. Here. Just as he's taking the shot. Well you could say that the referee played with teams. Here at Barcelona. Suarez. That's a weak finish. Ronaldo. Offside. Referee trying to let the game flow. Ronaldo with a backheel. For Marcelo. No handball given. Leo Messi. Brilliant goalkeeping. Not once. But twice. From Keylor Navas. Luis Suarez. Messi nips in. That should never have been his. Still Messi. Luis Suarez again. What's the referee going to give? It's a penalty kick. Luis Suarez. Brought down. The Real Madrid players. Protest. In large numbers. That the referee has awarded a penalty kick. He's got the yellow card out as well. The Costa Rican number one. Keylor Navas. Barcelona are level in El Clasico. It's the first goal in a competitive fix. Not worried about the two green shirts in front of him. No offside this time. Little step over. Rakitic couldn't get his shot away. Delightful football. And here's Cristiano Ronaldo. Up against Pique. It's brilliant. It's absolutely brilliant. Off comes the shirt. There's the pose. But most importantly. It's a brilliant, brilliant goal. From Cristiano Ronaldo. Well he'll get a yellow card for taking his shirt off. You can be pretty sure of that. And this is where it all started. Wonderful counter-attacking football. From Real Madrid. Ronaldo up against Pique. And just look at the finish. And there's his yellow card. You can just see it. It's a strong challenge for Mumtiti. And Cristiano Ronaldo is yellow carded. And therefore he will be sent off for two yellow cards. He's now pushed the referee. Which could lead to more trouble for him. Booked for simulation. After having been booked for taking his shirt off. Cristiano Ronaldo. Has been on the pitch just long enough. To get himself. Two yellow cards. Lovely quick feet. From Leo Messi. Still Messi. Offside. Well, Leo Messi. Has come to life. In the last few minutes. Messi was right in there. The cutback from Sergi Roberto was certainly inviting. Messi. Denis Suarez. Luis Suarez is at the far post. Luis Suarez keeps the move going. Just couldn't get his shot away. Well, the referee is in danger here. Of losing control of this game. He's giving it away. To Lucas Vasquez. Vasquez. To Asensio. It's a marvellous. Marvellous goal from Marco Asensio. And this is turning into a wonderful night. For Madridistas. You know what I mean. Madridistas. Well, as Barcelona pushed forward. They left the back door ajar. And the substitutes. Lucas Vasquez and Marco Asensio combined. And what a finish that is. Denis Suarez tries to. Make something happen. Referee blows his whistle. For the last time. In this match. A match that provided. Tremendous.
