Wirtz, Musiala and Xavi are the future of the sport
It's going to be spellbinding when Bayern's Jamal Musiala
meets Leipzig Javi in the standout fixture of the matchday.
A meeting of two footballing magicians.
Leipzig have a new wonderkid.
Both players are real difference makers,
reason enough to compare the two in our head-to-head after 22 matchdays.
Musiala's scored six times and provided two assists so far.
He's not quite yet hit the peaks of last season,
but did have a long injury spell at the start of the campaign.
Despite this, he often reminds us of his terrific skill,
most recently with his opener against Bochum, scored from a difficult angle.
Jamal Musiala again and there is the opener.
Smashed into the roof of the net by Jamal Musiala.
Considering his age, the young talent already plays intelligently,
looks to get forward and wants to exploit open spaces,
even if it doesn't always lead to a goal, as in this example.
Impressively, he's still scored six times, 1.6 more than his xG value.
The momentum is probably with Leipzig Javi,
scorer of some great goals of late, the most recent being his strike against Gladbach.
Oh, it's spectacular from Javi.
What a magnificent goal.
And you can take a bow on the back of that.
Seven assists and six goals are impressive stats.
He set up Lloyd Sapenda three times,
but the icing on the cake was his goal against Leverkusen.
Despite being surrounded by opponents,
he's able to finish thanks to outstanding technique.
The Dutchman's finishing efficiency is plus 1.8.
The pair always find creative solutions.
Watching them dribble is an absolute delight.
Musiala's control is unique.
The ball's glued to his boot and makes him hard to catch.
Creative and two-footed, he poses a real threat for Bayern.
His total of 69 dribbles is the third highest in the league,
after teammates Leroy Zane and Stuttgart's Chris Furyk,
with a success rate of 64%.
Musiala, Musiala at the double for Bayern.
Javi's total is 58 dribbles with a 67% success rate,
a player that can play in any attacking midfield position.
He's agile and technically adept,
which also makes him by far the league's most fouled player,
brought down 53 times this season.
The pair are also difficult to catch
because they set off on so many sprints over 90 minutes.
Javi's currently on 28.
Musiala's just behind on 26.
The Leipzig player is slightly ahead in terms of top speed
to 34 kilometers per hour.
Javi can make it five, Neubauer with the save.
It's still loose.
Amazing!
Compared to Musiala's top speed of 32.7.
Either player can decide a crunch game like this.
Unpredictable and irreplaceable.
Musiala, who clinched the title last season
with his winner against Kรถln,
probably knows that best himself.
Assists, goals, dribbling,
both players are in a class of their own.
However, Javi is currently in better form,
ahead of the clash between Bayern and Leipzig on matchday 23.
