Today, let's learn some basic telephone vocabulary. Here we go. When somebody calls you, the phone rings and you will pick it up. Call or make a phone call in Chinese is Pick up or answer a call means If nobody is answering the phone, then the caller might leave a message on the answering machine Later, you can call them back or return the call leave a message Answering machine Voicemail Call back or return the call Most people used landlines before cell phones and smartphones Smartphone But we normally say When you want to make a phone call, you start by dialing the number Dial the number Now imagine that you call your friend but they are on the phone with someone else Then you hear a busy signal like this Sometimes when you call a company, they put you on hold or transfer the call So you have to wait for your call to be answered What will they say?
