Hi, it's Sarah. Welcome back or welcome if you are new. I'm so happy you are here as we move
into part three of my Christmas decorating series. I've had so much fun taking you along
with me as I decorated here in my home for Christmas. Today we are stepping into the
living room. It's the first space you see when you walk into our home and I really wanted to
set the tone for the rest of our house. This year's theme is Mr. and Mrs. Claus's home,
so just think magical, festive, and super cozy like stepping right into Christmas itself. Before
we start decorating, I'm grabbing myself a yummy a cup of hot cocoa, going to turn on one of my
favorite Christmas movies, and then we are going to jump right into decorating. I hope you're
excited as I am for this Christmas explosion because we're about to deck every inch of this
living room in festive cheer and I can't wait. Whether you're here for a little inspiration or
just to get in the Christmas spirit, I am so glad you're here. Let's make this season magical
together. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoy. So here we are, welcome to my living
room. This home was built in the 1960s so you can see a little bit of that original charm throughout.
A few months ago we painted this whole space ourselves including the ceilings and it was
definitely a project but I just love how it looks. We also painted the kitchen nook and
kitchen and added in new ceiling fans and I feel like it completely brightened everything up.
The space just feels so fresh and cozy now. So this is a little look at everything before we
start decorating. I already put the trees up including these two pencil trees. I found these
at Walmart a few years ago and I haven't used them for a little bit so I decided to pull them out
and put them on each side of the TV and I actually really like how it looks.
Then we have our big main Christmas tree that I bought last year right before I moved here.
I just love it, it is so beautiful especially at night and I think it fits this space just perfect.
I already put the bow on as you can see. I always love bows to the top of my Christmas trees,
that's just a thing I do but I like to put it on before I put the top on because it is just easier.
This is a tree, it is the nine foot grand duchess twinkling blossom fir from Home Depot.
It was definitely an investment but so worth it. The lights are gorgeous,
it is super easy to set up and it's one of those trees that just makes the whole room feel magical.
Since it is daytime you can't truly see how magical it is so I have to come back for my
Christmas home tour to see it in the evening but it is honestly my favorite and I can't wait
to decorate it. I just want this space to feel inviting and whimsical, something Mr. and Mrs.
Claus would love with warm lighting, cozy blankets, and sweet decor pieces in all the
traditional Christmas colors. It feels cheerful, inviting, and full of heart and above all I want
it to feel magical for my kids. So we are starting here, I took out a folding table and I laid out
all the new ornaments that I picked up for the tree this year and we're just going to go over
them really fast before we start decorating it. First I have these red big Christmas ornaments
that are velvet that I picked up at Walmart this year. I got I think 10 of them, I don't even know,
but they come two each and I just thought these would make such a statement on my tree
so I grabbed these. I'm at that stage in life where I have kids still and pets so I don't want
to spend a ton of money on Christmas ornaments that are going to break so I'm glad that I found
these. And then I found these big ornaments at Sam's Club and I love these, they are hand painted,
I think they're so cute and really goes with the theme that I'm going for in here. They come as a
set of eight and I just love the classic look of them. I think they're something I can have for a
long time and they will never go out of style and they are big like I said, they're very oversized
and I think they'll go perfect here on this tree. Oh and they're also plastic so that is good too,
I don't have to worry about them breaking again and they each come individually wrapped so
that is nice as well. At Hobby Lobby I picked up these red swirly picks, I don't know what they're
called but they have little swirls on them I guess, but I thought they were super cute.
So I grabbed I think like 20 of them, I bought a lot of them and I bought them like three months
ago pretty early on and also Hobby Lobby I picked up these candy canes also. I grabbed all the ones
I had at the time but I'd love to get more maybe later if I'm near Hobby Lobby I'll pop in to see
if they have any. I just want to get a few more for the back of the tree. With these I'll be
incorporating some older pieces that I've had from past years to really complete the look. I'm not a
professional tree decorator by any means but I picked up a few tricks along the way. I always
start with the big ornaments then fill in with the smaller ones. Sticking with a color scheme helps
everything look cohesive and mixing in different shapes and textures adds depth and overall I'm
really happy with how it turned out. I put a few ornaments on the tree and then I paused the video
so my kids could come in and help. Some of them are even taller than me now so it was really handy
but mostly I just wanted to take a moment to enjoy the season with them and really soak it all in.
It did take a few hours to complete so it did take a while but this might be my favorite tree I've
ever done. It is definitely busier than my usual trees but I really wanted to go all out and make
a festive fun and magical and just make a statement so when you walk in and see it you just think wow
I think it really fits the theme I'm going for and I just love how it looks. I'm not showing the
decorated tree just yet I want to save that for the end so you can see the whole vision come together
but right now we are moving over to the entryway. I'm keeping things pretty simple here
but I still want to make a statement with just a few festive touches
and in the end I think it turned out so pretty simple but still it feels really warm and inviting
when you walk in. Here's how my entryway turned out. I hung the wreath in the middle of the mirror
because it instantly makes the space feel cozy and pulled together. It adds a focal point and a
little texture without taking up any table space. On the table I added that canvas print that I
think really makes a statement. That bell candle is from Magnolia that smells so amazing and my
barnyard gingerbread cookie jar is from Tractor Supply which I filled with a few yummy treats for
guests though my kids already found them and dug in. Down below in that basket I added that green
soft blanket and that cute joy pillow that is also from Tractor Supply. I just love how it all came
together it feels like home. We are moving over here to these two pencil trees on both sides of
my TV stand. They really bring balance to this whole area and make it feel styled and intentional.
The warm glow from the lights adds such a cozy touch and I'm keeping them simple with these
light up star toppers from Walmart because I'm also adding a garland with some lights on the
TV stand. I also hung my candy cane garland from Hobby Lobby that I picked up last year
and added in a few little pieces underneath and all together
it just looks so warm and cheerful and perfectly pulled together.
Moving over to my fireplace I'm going to add this big white blanket ladder that I have that I found
at Bell's Outlet a few years ago and add this white cozy blanket to it. Then I'm going to add
some of these Christmas stockings that I found at Sam's Club this year. I just love the way they look
and I'm going to place some hanging bells on it that I found at Dollar General and a cute little
wreath.
Down at the base of the fireplace I added these Santa boots from Walmart.
Like they're warming up by the fire they're such a cute little detail
that just makes the space feel more fun and lighthearted. On the other side I leaned this
wooden Merry Christmas sign and down at the bottom I added in a little tree to finish the space off.
With everything set the fireplace becomes a warm inviting focal point in the room and I just love
how everything turned out. A few of my kids really wanted a super cozy rec in here so I decided to go
for it and oh my gosh they have been loving it. Even if it only lasts through this Christmas
season it is totally worth it. I actually caught them making little snow angels on it the other day
which just made me smile. Adding a soft white rug to hard floors in the winter makes such a
difference. It keeps your feet cozy, softens the room and gives it this bright snowy vibe.
It even helps with sound so everything feels calmer. When you see the final look you'll really
notice how much it warms up the whole space. We are moving over here to my coffee table. I started
with this scallop tray and added in some winter greenery to a vase tied with a velvet ribbon for
a soft elegant touch. I added this belt and a few candles including this a tree-shaped one from
Walmart that not only looks adorable but it smells amazing and one of our favorite Christmas books.
These little touches bring so much nostalgia and coziness making the space feel completely ready
for Christmas. I also found these crochet wreath coasters from Amazon and not only are they
functional but they are so pretty and really go well on this table with everything else.
I dressed up the couch for Christmas with a mix of soft pillows and cozy throws.
I added a tree pillow and a little ornament pillow and my daughter thought her reindeer
stuffed animal Rudy would be the perfect touch so we added him in as well. Layering everything
like this gives the couch a warm lived-in feel, the ideal spot for watching a Christmas movie
and enjoying a cup of hot cocoa. So after I finished I put together a little vignette on
the ottoman. It is just for fun it is obviously not going to be staying here
but it adds such a cute little touch like Santa's kicking back on the couch
sipping his hot cocoa from his Santa mug with a few candy canes nearby enjoying a
quiet moment before the big night. On this railing that gently separates the living room from the
kitchen I added a real touch of cedar garland from Amazon and secured it with some zip ties.
I didn't do too much just added some lights and some soft white velvet bows
so it didn't take away from the tree. The garland adds texture and warmth,
helps to find the space and really completes the look of the room.
And that's a wrap on decorating the space for Christmas. It turned out even better than I
imagined and I couldn't be happier. I wanted it to feel inviting, peaceful and full of simple
Christmas magic that makes everyone feel at home. Just so you know this didn't happen overnight it
actually took me about a week to get everything just right and that's totally okay. Taking your
time to plan, layer in decorations and move things around until they feel perfect is part of the fun.
Don't rush it, enjoy the process because the end result is so much more magical when you do.
I hope you enjoyed the final looks and found a little joy and inspiration in today's video.
If you did, leave me a Santa emoji down below. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you
have a wonderful day and a beautiful Christmas season. Take care, sweet friends!
