Storm was a monster the entire northeast seaboard feeling the effects that will likely linger
for days.
Yeah, that's true.
Christy Aleto joins us with a look at the storm's impact in other parts of the region.
Yeah, that's right.
So the northeast took a direct hit of what is being called a powerful bomb cyclone that
blasted up and down the I-95 corridor.
So seven states from Massachusetts to Maryland declared state emergencies and at one point
more than 40 million people were under blizzard warnings.
Now you listen to that strong wind gust there of more than 35 miles per hour triggered white
out conditions.
The northeast buried under thick layers of snow disrupting travel, leaving thousands
without power.
More than 600,000 customers from Virginia to southern New England are without power
right now.
And then in Long Branch, New Jersey, thundersnow, yeah, dash cam right there captured the sky
lighting up before going dark here in Massachusetts.
The view from space even painting a better picture of how large the storm spanned along
the eastern seaboard.
Now, snow totals in 21 cities across New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island reached
at least two feet.
Long Island reporting almost 20 inches.
Conditions are expected to improve this evening, though snow will continue to hammer parts
of Massachusetts.
Public transit and airport travel have been throttled.
The majority of flights in and out of Boston and New York City today were canceled.
FlightAware tracking more than 5,500 flights canceled nationwide.
Amtrak also reporting some cancellations.
Brian.
With a view from space, it's really something.
Just like a hurricane.
They said, Christy, thanks so much.
