Hey everybody this is PJ Reilly from Lancaster Arch in our video studio. Today we wanted to tell you
about some cool new image stabilizing binoculars. These are the Apex Steady HD's from Alpen and
the main thing that we want to know about these image stabilizing binoculars is that they cost
basically half of the other popular image stabilizing binoculars out there. So this
is going to be your budget-friendly choice for image stabilizing binoculars. I've got a 14 by 42
and a 20 by 42 set of these binoculars here and both of them are under a thousand dollars which
if you're familiar with image stabilization binoculars under a thousand that's budget.
So what are we looking at here? Well first off as we mentioned 14 by 42 so that's going to be 14
power by 42 millimeter. This is going to be your objective lens here 42 millimeter and then again
as we mentioned 20 by 42 20 power by 42 millimeter. These things weigh about a pound and a half.
They're built pretty much like image stabilizing binoculars you're familiar with this shape.
So one of the reasons Alpen was able to make these for half the cost of the other image
stabilizing binoculars out there is the way that it stabilizes image and the functions.
Basically this one you're either stabilizing the image or you're not that's all they do it's just
on and off there's no other internal functions to use with these. But also the way they stabilize
is they use a two-axis gimbal internally here and so how I would describe it is that
they steady you down you know 14 power 20 power binoculars they're that's high power and so with
just your bare hands you're going to see a lot of movement without that stabilization. When there's
a switch right here you can see off on once I turn them to on it definitely stabilizes the image.
It doesn't stop it so it's not digitally stabilizing it but it slows it down and just
slows down the movement to where you're able to see much clearer you know all that normal
hand movement is out of there. So the stabilization in here once you turn that on
it comes and locks on the image there's just very slight movement you know natural movement from
your hands. So but you do get that image stabilization that we're looking for when
you go to these high power optics. Of course here Lancaster Archery what are we going to use these
for? There's lots of applications bow hunting is the most clear one but these are going to be
great binoculars to use for target archery as well. Especially those 20 power super high
magnification so that you can see you know if we're shooting 18 meters indoors you can tell
exactly where that arrow is you can see those 10 ring lines are you in are you out. 3D archery
any of the outdoor archery 70 meter recurve 50 meter compound field archery whatever
that super high power has its application so you can see exactly where your arrow is
but again we need that image stabilization otherwise you're trying to see through all
the movement of your hands. So these binoculars they are considered splash proof in terms of
waterproofing so that means don't drop these underwater here it's going to be able to take
basic you know some basic rain it's not going to be heavy duty waterproof it's good I would call
it more water resistant than waterproof and in the bag the image stabilization what it uses
is one AA battery in the pack you are going to get two AA batteries this is a lens cleaning
cloth you are going to get straps you know to wear around your neck you're going to get a cover
for your eye cup pieces there and then you are going to get the carrying case as well incidentally
the way these work the only moving piece on here is going to be your eye cups to get them to fit
your face how you want them which is kind of cool because you can get them very flat which is nice
how they fit in your in the pouch when they're flat like that but the whole body doesn't move
as we're used to with binoculars so you're just going to move that you are going to have twist up
eye cups for if you're for more eye relief whether you're wearing glasses or not and you are going to
have your focal ring here the diopter so that you can get the two sides to have offer the same
clarity of image all right that is the apex steady hd image stabilizing binoculars 14 power
20 power again both versions under a thousand dollars that is a killer price point for image
stabilization if you want to see these on our website be sure to click the link in the description
