This is the second video in the series. Let me give you some job interview tips that may just help you land your dream job.
By the end of this video I'll give
you a line that’s guaranteed to
get you out of a tight spot during job
interviews—so stay tuned until the end
Hi there Thanks for stopping by my channel
Thanks for clicking on this video
This one’s different from my usual content
It’s not about English or math
or any of those topics
But I believe—and I’d argue—that this
has made me a lot more important than
that This is actually part of my Get Hired
series where I share my tips with you
and advice on how you can land a job
Whether you're a recent graduate just
graduated or someone who graduated in
the past but is currently between jobs
or if you're considering changing your
career path this video is for you Last week I
posted a video about the mistakes to avoid
on your resume and since
many of you responded
really well done we're going
to jump straight into this
topic actually I wanted to put
this off until the end because
I have a lot of content planned for you all
But since many of you have requested it
we're going to talk about this
andling the job interview in this video
Now before we move on and I
share all my tips with you I want
to thank you for
sending in your ow
questions I did post a request for
you guys to send me the questions you
often encounter if you'd like me to
answer them or help you work through them
And I received a lot of responses and it was
incredibly exciting here because there were so
many questions and I was
thrilled to answer them
However due to the limited nature of the time
we're doing this on YouTube because
I can only film videos that are 10
to 20 minutes long—about that ideal
length for something healthy I thoug
a way how I could churn
out and answer more quickly
instead of having to set
up my filming equipment and
Filming it like this I'm just sitting here
So here's what I'm going to do
and I want to explain this first before I start
and answer some of the questions you sent in
Here's what I'm going to do okay My link is below in the description box
of my Angkor podcast
I started
that late last year actually Podcast you know means
you won't be able to see me
but you'll hear me—I'm going to
record my answers to your
questions there Why Because
if we wait I’d only be
able to film once a week
Here's how it is for you guys—just in case it takes too long
before you get the answer to your
question So here's what I'll do
It would be from now until my break—
I'll set aside a
little time each day
maybe every day otherwise every other
day for the questions you send in
o answer the questions you sent in I'll just respond to them
on the podcast instead since you
don't actually need to see me
while I'm answering that you just
have to hear my voice so you can
listen anytime you're on your way
to work or coming home from work
or if you're already at work
or somewhere else it's more
convenient than a YouTube video okay That's what I mean
I promise you that Don't worry I'm
going to answer all the questions
you sent in Okay I've already picked him and I'll go through them one by one
Okay So let's get started
Here's my first tip: Tip number
one don't lie I know this is
included in the resume no-nose
But I want to emphasize again
that even during your own job
interview do not lie The worst
part is if you get caught in a lie
Okay You know that's the one who invented you
Oh yes I' m so into anime—kind of like
that Then it turns out that
The guy who actually interviewed you is seriously addicted
to anime and he asked you "What do you think about yourself "
You're watching anime and pretending you don't know anything—so you'll just end up embarrassed right So don 't
lie okay Because believe it or not
Alright even if we're
all skilled at lying you'
ll still get caught If your intuition is strong
when you were interviewed even
though you may think you just left
Lying will only get you
caught and even if you say
something it will open up
an entire world of questions
e could just ask you directly Like
my example if I say I'm into anime
He slammed the door shut anime-
style—now he could ask you anything
he wanted over there that goes for anything including those things
questions about identifying your
weaknesses or anything
else—don't worry
I'll cover that in an upcoming podcast
so just follow my podcast for that
Okay just a quick tip—don’t
overthink it just be honest
there’s always a way to
frame it in your favor Number
Here's my second piece of advice—this
one is very important so listen listen
You must pay close attention to the
person interviewing you The problem is
Sometimes when you're nervous you'
re so eager to speak that it's okay
You're no longer listening
The question the interviewer
asked was different from your answer because
You've heard it enough already—don't get so worked up about
what you're about to say or what you're trying to memorize
Your answer you're too dizzy
from recalling whatever it
was I memorized so you didn't hear me anymore
That's a valid question Sometimes the voice is weak or
occasionally there's a series
of questions asked back-to-back
you've got one left that you haven't answered yet
so you need to listen very closely
and I know an interview's going
well if there are more
That was the moment my
interviewer spoke up — okay that'
s how I knew — yeah I got the
job In my experience since
I left school I
graduated I went through
it of course I
worked and so on so
So far Lord is good—I haven’t been
rejected from a job yet so I haven
’t experienced the feeling of
applying and not getting the position
I was in that same dilemma before because
I honestly didn’t know where I was headed and again putting modesty aside that’s the
truth— and I think a big part of it was
The goal of the interview is
to make the person feel good
about themselves not about
you That's a common mistake
When were being interviewed we thought
were the focus of the conversation
We weren't If you can find a way to
make your interviewer feel good about it
at's the best kind of
interview—believe me when you'
re overly confident or
arrogant that's it you're out
You're out of the pool You're being eliminated
not chosen because you're acting full of yourself
If you're too incompetent of course they won't want you
around because you're not good
at it So what you need to do is
Listen carefully to the interviewer Show
them respect Make that person feel at ease as
if you're saying "It's okay if I were in their position I'd want the same consideration "
I'm in charge of this person
I want him on my team
That's your goal So listen
very carefully Your body posture
would also reflect that So listen lean forward
Really you know that moment
when we're pretending too
There are teachers in front aren't
there Yes sir
I understand
You have to make that person feel
how much you're smitten by them
Sometimes I catch them acting
like they're not even comfortable
They weren't used to that kind of
interview But you can do that too because
it shows you're truly present in the
moment and paying close attention
o them So listen listen and
make sure they know you're
paying attention okay The really great part about this technique is
If you can echo back what
they're saying
okay If you repeat
their words just as
you mentioned earlier sir
You value people above everything else
Those are the ones you bring back And you
can only do that if
you're truly listening
Number three tip: think before you speak
I can't emphasize this enough Think
before you speak It's like you know the
problem with job interviews sometimes is
that they feel like a beauty pageant right
Buyokon Usually people who are in a rush
tend to make mistakes like that right
They’re just responding okay They don’t even know
yet what they’re going to say So it becomes um…
en what they're saying
keeps going in circles
Because they didn't think before speaking
Now how do you do it
Here's the first thing okay
Be comfortable with silence
Be comfortable with silence okay that's the thing Even if you pause
Take a moment before speaking that's perfectly
fine Because actually the feeling you have tha
You've been paused for a long time
but it wasn't actually that long
okay I think I already told this
story in an earlier video But when I
I was first into theater
okay That was
my biggest role
ever and I had a monologue
I felt so confident right
Memorize those lines
I looked
up tssss like that Then the spotlight hit me It was the first time I'd ever seen a spotlight
Okay I forgot my lines I' m completely blank I just
feel like I feel like back
then I didn't speak at all
I'm having a mental block I feel like it's so
long I swear it feels like five minutes—so long
But after I came down from
the stage of course
I was exhausted so I just made things up until I got back
That was me right there on the lines
I came down from the stage
then asked my friends I said
Ah how’s it going Did you notice
I forgot my lines Most
of them said right
No did that actually happen It felt
like that I swear it was five minutes
But actually it was just two or three seconds
They just paused for effect
So think of it that way
Think before you speak
it's not that hard right
Don't just stand there staring for two whole minutes
But wait a moment Think
about what you're about
to say Remember when I told you how to write
A paper a good and effective
paper You can also revisit those
videos here Just click I right here
the annotation located at the top
Right well those rules apply Okay You know the three-
point rule—meaning if you're
going to talk about something
Three points Okay I got that from
Director Joey Reyes right They always say
Three points that's it Why
Because if you've got three points you
can make then okay you can just go ahead
Through them the listener's
attention won't wander Okay And
you also have that outline in
your mind a mental framework
Whatever you're about to say don't worry—you won't disappear
You're not going in circles so think before you speak
So they said okay you don 't
need to respond right
away—really it's not about that It's about wha
We say Okay So if
you need to stop for
a moment just say let me just think
about it Alright ganoon You can do that Just
go with honesty and then with sincerity
and then with integrity
composure Please don't go overboard and
start panicking or getting overly anxious
Alright Fake it till you make it
especially during a job interview This is
especially important if you're just starting
out Tip number four: avoid using fillers
Fillers are no good They're
useless okay Useless and if
anything you're the ones with
the filler—just wait and see
You're not confident are you
And it would make it look
like you weren't prepared
Okay When you use fillers
If you're using fillers it's like you're not prepared
you're not experts in that field
What exactly are these fillers
Okay Our filler words
sometimes it's like um cuz like
Oh my God Lord
I'm also allergic Lord I
'm allergic there
okay I' m really allergic Back when I was in HR I promise
You know what Some people act like they're good
at English but that's how
they actually speak it
Kasi you know
like when I was um
three uh it was
kind of like this and
I got past that by you know like You
know what I mean Like
that thing those ums
Alright So what
should we do Instead of
using fillers just
take a pause instead of
No you know when I was
uh around three years old
you could just say so
when I was three years old
I was doing this
It's okay if you speak slowly
Just don't stop talking or start liking things
You know right Because why do you keep saying "new
you know" to me He asked
me directly so I don't know
Those kinds of reasoning lines
So don't use fillers They
make you appear clumsy
unprepared unsure
and unconfident
Don't filter yourselves Just uh get comfortable with
silence with the long pauses
You can pause for effect
Number five on the tip is this:
always end on a positive note Even
when they ask you about your greatest
weakness end on a positive note
You have to keep believing in him
end on a positive note—there's always
a way I wish I really wish I had
enough time to have a consultation
You know that one-on-one Tell me
your life story—what's your answer
Right here and then I'll fill you in on that I've done this for
several of my friends Usually when they're
going for a job interview they come over
They have me review their
resume We go through Yung we go over many of
the commonly asked interview questions
and then I look at their answers
Then I advise him on how to
handle it why did you drop out of college why did you qu
That's the subject guys I can't do
that for you So here's my tip for you
End on a positive note How do you do that
How do you break it Okay
Always make sure
and this is my secret
okay uh tha
I'm passing this on to you okay
the secret here is
everything is a learning
experience Memorize that line
You know what I believe that everything
s a learning experience If you're kind to me go
around me say you know
what I follow this YouTuber
Coach Laika Maravilla and she usually
says this: everything is a learning
experience Yun Bakit Kasi kahit
anong negative experience mo ngayon
You'll eventually get over it because it's
no longer a bad thing—it becomes a learning
experience So when you're asked
Why did you switch courses or switch colleges You know what
I believe that everything is a
learning experience When asked
a ng what's your biggest regret You know what I don't
have any regrets in my life
—I really don't I try not to
Looking at it that way because I believe every single
thing is a learning experience
Bang Ganon That's all yours
Alright You're already on board Because once again
that's your video segway And it also
shows you're open to learning
which is actually exactly what
we'really looking for when we work
together it's less about expertise and more about your ability
To innovate what they truly seek in you is your
ability to learn and your
openness to being corrected
So if you're feeling nervous about it
and on a positive note it'll turn out
great Alright so those are my job
interview tips and again if you want me to
