Hello everyone today I’m sharing with you how to prevent and manage pests in your garden to make growing plants much less stressful
I only went away for a few days during Lunar New Year but when I got back my garden was infested with all kinds of pests and diseases—green worms aphids rot and leaf blight
Maybe before leaving I applied a thick layer of covering over the soil surface so my plants wouldn't wilt as easily
For beginners in gardening who encounter a plant garden plagued by numerous pest and disease issues it's easy to become discouraged and constantly anxious about their garden's well-being
I’ve already gone through so much trouble planting trees and stealing soil and now I also have to worry about the proper techniques to make them grow well and bear fruit
Then having to deal with pests and diseases makes gardening extremely difficult for everyone
Planting trees the right way is like owing a debt to the trees—how can you possibly enjoy yourself on a trip during the Lunar New Year if you're not truly present and mindful
Always anxiously worried that the garden would wither or be plagued by pests endlessly fretting over every possible trouble
Let's be honest—growing plants on a rooftop is vastly easier than growing them in the ground
I grow my plants on the rooftop where pests and diseases are minimal making them very easy to manage
The area we live in has so many harmful insects that they're severely damaging our crops by biting and devouring them
If possible everyone should build a small greenhouse to grow plants inside
Growing plants indoors is like sleeping with or without soil—either way you're still sleeping
I went in there to help because the worms were chewing through the plants making my gardening efforts less strenuous
Now I'll go step by step with the garden pests tackling each task in the order of what needs to be done first
But you'd better get it done quickly within just a couple of days—leave it too long and the pests and diseases will ruin the whole garden
The blue and speckled buds bloom beautifully and grow remarkably fast
There are also leaf scorch and rot diseases
Especially wilt disease—it spreads rapidly through the irrigation water and once it takes hold it quickly infects the entire crop
It'll rot the whole garden in just two or three days
Depending on how severe the infestation is the approach to handling it will
vary Moreover the method of managing the disease differs from the method of treating it

To treat aphids and planthoppers I'll use dish soap and neem oil
I usually use green oil but since we're out of green oil now I'm using this red-colored water-based oil instead
This oil is just like Buddha's Oil everyone
I'm buying that green oil with a strong scent—slightly spicy is even better the spicier the better
Any dish soap works fine for me—normally I use Sunlight but since I've run out I'm just using this one as a temporary substitute
If your household uses about 2 liters of water then everyone should use roughly this amount for washing dishes—just around 10 drops
I only use about five drops for one liter
As for this 16-liter sprayer use about 2 tablespoons—this is a regular dinner spoon
After adding the dish soap I pour in the water
I want the dishwashing liquid to stick to the insect so it dies quickly to help with that you can add about 1 to 2 tablespoons of cooking oil to the spray bottle
The spray bottle has a filter inside which is why the foam keeps overflowing let me remove the filter so the foam won't spill over anymore
I only use a small amount of this dish soap using too much isn't good and the scent will turn harsh
I'll use just a little spray it this afternoon and flush the water tomorrow morning
Typically just 4 to 5 drops of dish soap per liter of water is enough—don’t use more than that
Next I add about 5 to 10 drops of green oil—adding a little more is fine too
Then I stir the mixture until it's well combined if I don't have a mixer I just shake the spray bottle vigorously
Dish soap also needs to be kept away before harvesting so it's best to pick some of the leaves beforehand before spraying
Leave about 5 to 6 leaves on each plant—that’s enough for the plant to thrive
Then remove some old or damaged leaves and thin out pots with too many plants
To minimize pests and diseases in the garden people should plant crops at a sparse density
When I plant trees sparsely I can spot pests and diseases more easily and if there's weeds in the garden I remove and clear all the grass
Before spraying ensure good airflow in the garden and cut all the grass so insects have no place to hide
Some insects have wings and can fly when we spray pesticide in the vegetable pot they'll fly off to hide in the grass
Therefore before spraying pesticide everyone must clear away the area around the cap's hiding spot to ensure insects have nowhere to hide
After cutting just leave the grass as is to dry and naturally decompose into fertilizer
Alternatively gather everything to compost it
Or dry it out completely to use as a protective layer on top of the pot helping the plant retain moisture
When there was no grass I used bean pods or crushed conut husks to cover the surface of the pot
Once we have grass we'll dry it ourselves and spread it over the surface of the pot
After some time the decaying grass turns into organic matter enriching the soil with nutrients for plants
Aphids and mites typically concentrate on new growth and the undersides of leaves
That's why when rinsing dishes make sure to spray water onto the tender shoots and the undersides of the leaves as well
When I spray pesticides fertilizer or even just rinse dishes on the plants everything gets soaked easily
I just give them a quick rinse
I don't just spray one spot—I keep spraying continuously
Or repeatedly spraying the same spot over and over isn't good for the plant
Using dish soap to eliminate aphids is remarkably effective
I sprayed once but still saw some pests alive or not dying
Next time please add a little more dish soap for me
I only add a few drops each time just a small amount
Then I mix it with that amount I spray killing pests and bugs without harming the plants at all
Next time I'll just mix the same amount and spray it around the garden to deal with the aphids
I spray the dishwashing water in the cool part of the day when the sun isn't shining—anytime between 5 6 7 or 8 o'clock works fine
The next morning after the sap started oozing I immediately sprayed water on the tree to rinse it off
The dish soap doesn't burn the leaves when the sun comes up
If one spray of dishwashing water doesn't do the job I'll spray it twice or even three times once each afternoon for three consecutive days
Dish soap not pesticide with no toxic additives and low toxicity
Only when people spray directly onto the insect pests will they actually die
This homemade pesticide hole requires patience and persistence from everyone applying it
If one application isn't enough spray two or three more times
Once the garden is free of pests everyone should use flashlights each evening to catch any remaining insects
When it gets really dark they come up easily—so easy to catch
If you just take the trouble to catch them this way you won’t need to spray pesticides or use dishwashing detergent
If you don’t have time for more spray once every ten days or so as a preventive measure
The room is when the plant hasn't been infested by pests yet
Once it's already infested you'll need to spray treatment continuously for two or three days
Alright we've taken care of those pests and aphids already
Now let's move on to fruit and leaf diseases and rot issues
These two illnesses are extremely dangerous everyone
They spread very quickly
Especially this rot disease—it follows the water flow spreading incredibly fast
When gardening you have to stay attentive and regularly check on your plants
If a few leaves in the garden become scorched like this people must remove them from the tree and isolate the damaged leaves away from the garden
Burn this leaf along with any dry debris or place it in a separate trash bin away from the garden
Don't let too many plants in the garden have burnt leaves or one plant with too many leaves burned
When the plant loses too many leaves or rots too much people cut it off and after that it no longer has any effect
This green caterpillar folks—just one pandan leaf and nearly a hundred of them
I just sprayed some dish soap on them so these little guys are completely done for now
When dealing with leaf spot disease just remove the affected leaves from the garden and that's all you need to do
When the tree has so many leaves burned that pruning no longer helps I’ll have a final solution ready
Just a little more and I'll share the general method for dealing with this rotten illness once and for all
This vegetable patch has a few plants starting to rot do you see those two leaves drooping
When a tree grows healthily its leaves don't droop like that
If people see a plant in a row with its leaves drooping like that shouldn't they go closer to check what's wrong with it
Is there corruption or not
If those cabbage leaves or cauliflower florets or onions are drooping like that they're definitely rotten—everyone should know that
This illness spreads very rapidly so as soon as you notice decay you must treat it immediately
People were advised to remove these rotten branches and keep them well away from the garden or burn them
Don't just toss it from one side to the other or throw it from the vegetable bed down onto the path—that's a habit that spreads even worse folks
See how it is Wherever it touches it spreads—this thing just melts wherever it goes and the spread follows right behind
Back when I had a squash patch on the rooftop one of the plants rotted away just like this
After removing everything I planted new crops and in the next round I planted broccoli without preparing the soil again
And the cauliflower I planted a few days ago ended up rotting in exactly the same way
Then I kept pulling out the plants and replanting but they kept rotting again and again until eventually the infection spread throughout the entire garden
I didn't have experience with this issue back when I first planted the tree
Now we'll wash our hands and prepare the medicine to apply into the areas that are rotten
Where there's heavy infestation I'll apply pesticide where it's light I'll use powder
The medicine we apply to the tree is meant to dry out the infected area and stop the disease from spreading preventing the tree from rotting further
If people don't have Redomin they can substitute it with Coq85 or Mancojet
This type of medicine is heavily counterfeited if you buy
it from an unreliable source injecting it yourself won't work
Especially this Redomin medication from Sienta is being counterfeited a lot lately since it's quite expensive
Apparently 100 grams costs around 60 thousand folks
To mix the pesticide for spraying people take a small amount of the substance and dilute it with a little water stirring until it reaches a slightly thick consistency
Just a little bit sticky not so much that it looks like a starving face
Mix it just right so it's slightly thick when you apply it—enough
to stick to the brush but not too thick Too thin won't work either
It's a bit too weak I'll add a little more medicine
This medication comes in a rice-like form that's slightly hard to dissolve so please stir it thoroughly for a moment to ensure the substance inside the rice grains fully dissolves
That's why the effectiveness only improves when you scan it properly
Here's a cauliflower with a few leaves just plucked off folks
I'm cutting past this knotted section and severing it cleanly
Then after cutting that area make sure to spray pesticide there as well to prevent it from spreading to the nearby branches
This tree has been heavily damaged—people have eaten all the outer
bark They've even gnawed into the hard inner core of the trunk
Just like this tree people need to take medication for it to work effectively
Before applying the medication everyone thoroughly scrapes off the affected area at a 90-degree angle then sprays it briefly to disinfect
Be sure to scrape off every last bit of the scab no pieces left behind everyone Now
I'm going to apply the medicine
I'll clean it today and by tomorrow this open wound will be dry
If it doesn't dry properly people scrape off the paste reapply it and repeat this process two or three more times
Once this open wound stops festering then it'll be over
This rotting condition usually clears up after
just one treatment—it dries out and stops spreading
I keep sweeping but the problem just won’t go away—this stubborn issue keeps coming back so everyone should double-check whether the medicine they’re using isn’t counterfeit
Since I need to quarantine after spraying the pesticide please harvest almost all
the greens before I do the spraying—leave only a few leaves on each plant
Once the tree sprouts new leaves you can eat again
Please follow the instructions on the packaging for isolation
I applied a thin even layer all around the open wound
Make sure to sweep around those areas too even where there are
no visible wounds You can also sweep around the base of the tree
For trees with minor external damage people don't use medication but instead apply lime as a substitute
The lime is mixed up thick and sticky just like the medicine
But everyone must use the type of quicklime that's properly heated—don't use cold or improperly processed lime
To prevent the spread of soil-borne diseases and root rot farmers must thoroughly disinfect the soil before planting using lime
And while planting don't water at night—once in the morning is enough
And when planting keep the spacing fairly wide
When sunlight reaches the ground from above your plant receives more exposure to sunlight enabling it to photosynthesize nutrients more effectively
The soil being dry reduces dampness which in turn greatly decreases the occurrence of pathogens
And here are the plant pots—overwatered leaves turned yellow and brown everything completely rotted and ruined
I'll need to spray the plant to treat this issue
The infection has spread from the upper leaves downward and now sweeping it won't help anymore
Spray from the top of the spray nozzle downward The pesticide
we applied earlier is still left over mix it into this bucket of water
Mix the entire contents of this medicine into here with about five cups of water
Then we mix it all together and pour it into the plant pots
If the plant is rotting at the base has burned or yellowed leaves simply water it directly into the soil
Water the leaves water the soil—water the entire country thoroughly
Let it completely eliminate the disease spores within this pot of soil
The clay pot is severely diseased and since the plant can no longer grow people will inevitably have to use medication
If the leaf-burning disease persists even after you've removed the affected leaves everyone should use this medicine—dilute it and spray it on the plants
Spray three times a week about two to three times total
Each session spaced three days apart continue until the condition clears up
When gardening it's better to prevent diseases than to treat them after they occur
As I mentioned earlier to prevent root rot and leaf blight everyone should take preventive measures
I only plant at a sparse density and never water at night
When pruning branches it's best to do so in the early morning
Once exposed to air an open wound will dry up making
it harder for infections to penetrate the wound
About 10 to 15 days later everyone sprays lime water on the garden once to prevent disease
The way to prepare limewater is to mix 100 grams of lime with 20 liters of water
After adding lime to the water stir it thoroughly and let the limewater settle until clear
Once the lime water has settled and become clear people scoop it into spray bottles and use them to spray and water
I spray the leaves to prevent leaf diseases and water the base to prevent root-related issues
The type of lime we're using now has the effect of disinfecting the soil and preventing plant diseases
Lime also supplies calcium to plants raises soil pH and helps reduce soil acidity
There are still a few plants in the garden that have been damaged by insects some even showing signs of being sucked dry or stripped of their pollen
It causes the tree tip to shrink and deform
How to prevent and treat this sucking insect will be covered in another video
This creepy little biting insect isn't easy to deal with so I’ll need some extra time to make a longer video
To help the plant grow quickly I need to eliminate all insects that chew on the leaves and those that cling to the roots
Only when the roots are clean the plant is strong and healthy and free from pests sucking and biting should you fertilize—otherwise the plant won't absorb the nutrients
Now I've completely eliminated all the pests and I've also taken care of the rotting and leaf scorch issues
Now we'll apply fertilizer to help the plants grow quickly
Now that the tree is healthy and free of pests whenever people fertilize it the tree immediately absorbs the nutrients and grows extremely quickly
Applying fertilizer to a sick plant won't do any good folks
The roots are already sick and exhausted feeding them fertilizer only makes the plant more strained
The more fertilizer I apply the worse the plant gets and the faster it dies
To help your plant grow thick and fast feed it chicken manure
Chicken manure has very high nitrogen content which will help your plants grow quickly and become robust
I fermented this chicken manure myself mixing it with grass I cut from my garden
I've been composting this chicken manure for over two months almost three now before it's finally ready to use
Those wanting to use chicken manure should first spend time composting it
You need to let it ferment for about two to three months before using it using it immediately after fermentation isn't possible
I want my garden to be lush and vibrant with plants growing quickly and free from pests and diseases
Fertilizing must go hand in hand with pest and disease control
A healthy plant is able to absorb nutrients effectively
The plants are healthy and properly fertilized so they stay lush and vibrant at all times
These are the cauliflower plants we sprayed with pesticide and applied chicken manure to the other day
It's only been a few days but the plant has grown so much it now spreads out across the entire surface of the pot
The tree has already sprouted new leaves and the new leaves are no longer being eaten by pests This means
my plant is now disease-free and pest-free
Did you see how fast the chicken manure makes these plants grow
I keep my garden looking great by both preventing disease and fertilizing at the same time
And with that I'll conclude this video sharing methods for preventing pests and diseases in the garden
Please forgive any shortcomings in the content creation process
Thank you all for taking the time to watch until the end
See you in the next video
